Beam/Devices build help

[Vonbears]

Hey all. This is essentially my first 50 character, no real idea what I'm doing when it comes to putting builds together. I'm mostly playing solo, or duo with a friend, trying not to faceplant too much while not sacrificing all my damage.

Put this together as an intro-ish build, trying to keep it from being too pricey. But as my first attempt at a build I'm sure there's tons of mistakes in it. Looking for suggestions on ways to clean it up, or maybe some mid-range upgrades once this is put together.

Just as a stylistic thing, taking some consideration of the posting environment is a good thing -- black text for the power names against the dark blue background is virtually illegible.

Might be a monitor thing, looked fine for me. Changed it to something more generically visible though.

I am on a trip and no access to mind's so I can't really comment without looking at the stats from the set bonuses.
