Creating Control Powers by Modifying Existing Powers

I feel like the Control sets stand out as being a ripe place for new powerset development with a lot of untapped potential.

 

This post isn't an idea in and of itself. I just wanted to make a list of "low hanging fruit" for Control sets where new powers could be created from changing a few attributes of some existing powers. This will hopefully help folks job up a few ideas for their designs. 

 

Feel free to add/contribute to this list.

 

 

Arctic Air or Choking Cloud (PBAoE % chance to control aura) with:

  • Immobilize
  • Terrorize
  • Stun
  • Knockdown
  • Knockup
  • Sleep

 

 

Ice Slick, Static Field or Shadow Field (pulsing, placeable psuedo pet) with

  • Immobilize
  • Stun
  • Terrorize
  • Confuse
  • Knockup

 

 

Spectral Terror (immobile pet with a mezz power) with

  • Confuse
  • Stun
  • Hold
  • Immobilize
  • Knockdown
  • Knockup
  • Sleep

 

 

Synaptic Overload or Jolting Chain (chain mezz) with

  • Immobilize
  • Hold
  • Stun
  • Terrorize
  • Knockup
  • Sleep

 

 

Heart of Darkness or Cinders (clickable PBAoE mezz) with 

  • Confuse
  • Terrorize
  • Immobilize
  • Knockdown
  • Knockup
  • Sleep

 

 

Wormhole with

  • Confuse

Mass Confusion or Mass Hypnosis (clickable ranged radial mezz) with

Almost all of Trick Arrow.  You can look at TA and imagine how it was probably initially a Control set, changed to Support just so it could work with Archery:

 

Entangling Arrow - ST immob 

Ice Arrow - ST Hold

Glue Arrow - AoE immob

Poison Gas Arrow - recurring Sleep patch

Flash Arrow - Smoke clone

Oil Slick Arrow - AoE Knockdown

EMP Arrow - AoE Hold

 

Glue Arrow is the only one in that pack that has an added effect (changing out from aoe slow to aoe immobilize, which is already on theme for the power).

Disruption Arrow probably would've been an aoe confuse and function in place of a pet, with only Acid Arrow really needing dumped for something unique.

I put those powers roughly in the order you would typically see them for a Control set.

 

I would absolutely be fine with Dev taking these powers, removing and/or drastically reducing their secondary attributes and throwing on new power names to create some sort of "Tactical Quiver" control set.
