BigHeavy Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 A suggestion : If your character is idle in a zone for a short period (half of AFK?), and you have a defeat badge for one of the groups that spawn in that zone, they will send a group-size-appropriate ambush out for revenge.
TemporalVileTerror Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 I do like the idea of enemy groups having grudges against player characters, and dispatching ambushes from time to time, but I don't think it should happen while idle / AFK. Sometimes real-life emergencies come up, and people have to drop the game. It would be salt on the wounds to come back to find that some NPCs came and defeated the player-character in what would have otherwise been a safe-enough spot. So, alternatively: Launch the ambushes right after the player defeats half of an outdoor mob of enemies. That way we can assume the player is still engaged with the game, and will theoretically be standing in roughly the same spot for a little while longer, giving the ambush time to catch up and start their attack run. 3

I can see the argument for not penalizing the truly AFK. Perhaps - half a group (as you suggest) or exit a mission doorway or arrive at the tram? Catches those not street sweeping but using the zone for missions too.
Black Zot Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 It needs to be something you can toggle off. Ambushes are annoying to begin with (and an active hazard to other players), having even more of them just to punish someone for collecting a badge is ... pretty dickish, at best. 1
TemporalVileTerror Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Agreed, @Black Zot. Perhaps either in the form of a class of Missions which VERY BOLDLY WARN THE PLAYER OF IMPENDING AMBUSHES, or as an optional Notoriety toggle in the difficulty settings.
