MiniMega
I haven't been able to play the game since the latest update. I log in, I get the terms of service thing and hit accept, I click on a server, and after a while of waiting, it says "can't connect to DBserver" and kicks me back to login. One time I got in long enough to make a new character and join a DFB, but when we tried to go, it did that thing where your view points up from the ground with no UI like it did that first weekend when the servers couldn't handle the number of players. I had to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to make it close. Since then, once or twice I got into the character select, but when I tried to log in it would say "no mapserver connection" and kick me back to login again. I'm on pc, I'm using tequila, the game is up to date, and it is set as an exception on my antivirus. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong or how I could fix it? goblinite
I would start by reinstalling the program in a new folder.
Korbian
Why is everyone always in such a hurry to reinstall the program? The first step if it's giving you issues is to go into options and hit re-validate. There is almost NEVER a need to delete every CoH file and re-download it. Re-validating scans the files and if anything is amiss it downloads only what it needs to repair. At most you might have to delete Tequila.exe and re-download it, but don't reinstall the whole game for every little issue. DBServer suggests to me that it's an external issue, not one with your computer, MiniMega. Especially since so many people were having the same issue around the same time. If you managed to get in and play for awhile it's definitely not something that requires a reinstall. If you need to move it to a new folder as suggested, you can, so long as you point Tequila to the new location. I'm not sure why that would make a difference though. MiniMega
I tried revalidating multiple times. I tried to uninstall tequila but it's not in my computer's list of programs when I'm in the "uninstall programs" window. I opened a folder and had it search the whole computer for tequila and deleted what I could, a lot of it said it couldn't be deleted but this did allow me to reinstall tequila and got it to reinstall the game, but still it had no effect. This has been ongoing for several days, although I have not yet tried today. Yesterday I was able to consistently get into the character select, but it would always give me "no mapserver connection" when I tried to get in, then I could only get to character select again if I exited the game and started over. Edit: I just tried. Couldn't reach character select, it's back to the DBserver error.
Nechevo
I had this problem for a few days. It went away it after I rebooted my router.
The Fifth Horseman
Why is everyone always in such a hurry to reinstall the program?Because in the absence of a clue it's SOP for your average armchair IT. And that's terrible.
Wildsauce
I have this exact same issue I just installed the game today and have re-validated, restarted my router, and none of it seems to work
MechaTronX
I have the same issue and tried all the recommended solutions other than rebooting the router. Will try that and let you guys know.
MiniMega
After several days, I finally googled the error message (why didn't I try that sooner?) and the top result was a post on the CoH subreddit, whose top answer was... restart the router. I'm annoyed that the answer was that simple and that it took me that long to find it, but it did indeed let me log into the game. Trouble is, it didn't actually eliminate the problem. It's kind of a band-aid solution, as I now have to restart my router literally every single day in order to play. Every day I still get the "can't connect to DBserver" error until I restart the router. At least I can get in, which is good, but it's kinda driving me bonkers. (I figured this out like 4 days before making this comment, I just procrastinated that long on coming back to the forum.)
Healix
I heard some people say that running it as administrator solved it for them. Forever grateful to be back in my city!
