Darkity Darkness questions

Because it is Halloween, or because I am a madman I have decided to start a Dark/Dark/Soul Controller alt.  I have run some Dominators in my time, but never a Controller.

 

My first thought is to throw things like Grav Anchors Hold Proc in Living Shadows Immob Cone.  This can help me get to better Hold numbers (possibly?)  Are there any other Hold procs I could be looking at?  Danged controllers have fat AoE patches lol.  Be nice to sweeten them up.

 

I plan to run this very different than most of my "ranged squishies"  Obviously I am not a primary damage dealer.  More like a very powerful yet incredibly squishy tank.  I will be taking the Teleport pool along with Fold Space.  

 

There are some looooong recharge times on these big guns.  Will be interesting learning the rythyms.  I PL'd to 28 and slotted mostly SOs.  I will be running through the Freedom Phalanx Task Forces in order to learn the playstyle, rather than finish farming it out.  

 

Any tricks or treats are appreciated.

 With my dark/dark/soul troller I mainly proc'd out dark grasp and HoD....skipped the immob and slotted the fear with 2 procs for some really nice damage. HoD+void= everything dead when it procs. I've been using this build since I hit 50 and haven't found a reason to change it yet.

The Grav Anchor proc doesn't hit often enough and last long enough to matter that much. It's nice to have but I find the set bonuses more interesting... 

 

If you can PL your toon, do it up to level 32 instead of 28. The added damages of the Umbra beast makes soloing a lot better on a darky dark brooding controller. Soloing is really not that great before that. When I leveled mine, I did it almost exclusively by joining TF and Trials. Soloing was too painfully long and boring.

 

Umbra beast is a good pet overall (despite the fact it is noisy), but remember to heal it from time to time, because it is not as resilient as, say, an animated stone... The added control it brings it a nice bonus. 

 

Unfortunately, a darky dark troller is best played like a good'ol scraptroller because Shadow field and soul absorbtion are Pbaoe and two powers I would definitely recommend. In fact you will have to move a bit in battle to take into consideration the Pbaoe and the cones (fearsome stare and the immobilize power that I forgot the name).
