Beam Rifle/Mental Blaster???

Most of my toons have been Brutes or Scrappers, sprinkle in a Dominator/Controller here and there. Trying a blaster for the first time and seeing the primary powers Beam Rifle is ridiculous with 6 different powers with High to Extreme damage output !!!INSANE!!! Would MM work well with BR or are there more suitable secondary's? Or we could go outside the box and get recommendations on a better build for an airborne, AOE blaster?

You want to stay ranged.... So Drain Psyche, the sustain in Mental is very good.  For a Melee Blaster.  It is a PBAoE requiring targets to ...drain.   I use Temporal as a secondary for my Beam Rifle.  Very good sustain that requires....nothing.


Here is the build I am using to run Incarnate SG badge runs.  It does ONE job.  Ranged damage.  Very good ST, okay AoE.

I have a few different Beam Rifle characters and I find that I enjoy the powerset most when I am able to concentrate on just shooting things and working out the best attack chain to deal optimum damage. It's just a busy powerset that doesn't like to be interrupted. My current Beam Rifle character is a Force Field / Beam Rifle Defender.
