As long as you have the pet window enabled and they are living, they should appear in that window. They don't do massive knockback, you might be thinking of PB's seeker drones. DE's attacks can do a little knockback, but it's KB chances are similar to your own Dark Nova Blast and will only occasionally do some light single target KB which really isn't a big deal.
