If so, can you please share your build? I thought of making one because,:

1. Even though a great many people have maxed defense these days, most don't have maxed resistance.

2. -Resistance would (In theory anyway) prove useful against a giant monster or AV (or am I wrong about that?)

I had a Sonic/Sonic defender on live, right after the sets were released in I5. While Sonic Attack was recently updated, Sonic Resonance has largely been untouched since release (other than making application of the ally shields AoE). Other than applying the shields every 4 minutes, firing Liquefy when it's up (5 minute recharge) and applying Sonic Siphon, there's nothing for you to do but use your secondary. It's a fairly boring set to play. If you're looking to buff ally resistance, Thermal is a more versatile set. If you're looking to debuff foe resistance, Poison or Cold are superior.

Several of its powers are worthless (Sonic Cage and Sonic Repulsion) and most of the others have few slotting options. Sonic Siphon, Disruption Field and Clarity take no IO sets at all and don't require more than an accuracy or end reduction in the base slot. Sonic Barrier, Haven and Dispersion only take Resist Damage sets. Liquefy takes several sets but is probably best with a To Hit Debuff set.

1)  True you are less likely to find characters with capped resistances than defenses in end game (outside melee/armor ATs) especially across multiple types.  Though I also think you're more likely to run into resistance buff support characters these days as well than previously.

2) resistance debuffs are resisted by the targets resistances to the damage type.  Between this and the Purple Patch a high level AV will end up potentially resisting a whole lot of a resistance debuff (but that's true of debuffs in general).  The positive side is from the teaming pov that debuff applies for everyone attacking that target -> allies, pets, lore pets etc.

This has been the main character I've played since Live, going through majority of the content solo. It does shine better having a partner to hold the Dispersion Field for the extra damage resist. Recently ran into another Sonic Defender with Sonic Repulsion, didn't realize the knockback could be negated to knockdown so that was added to the mix. Basically a walking Ice Patch, though it is endurance heavy (and loud), so that's something to watch out for.

For fighting mobs grouped up, I cycle through Shockwave > Howl > Siren's Song then repeat the process again. Otherwise, Amplify > Liquefy > Dreadful Wail to Nuke groups that are bunched up.

Teleport can be swapped for a different travel set, I just used it to make thematic to the character I was playing. Same for Mu Mastery, mainly to grab Charged Armor as early as possible. Used to have Medicine since it's been mentioned there's not many active support powers once you're done buffing.
