Too big for the 1k limit so posting here.

In the News today:

'Electron Volts' has robbed another bank and is still at large. Rogue Island police warn he is armed and should be considered extremely dangerous.

Tossing down the newspaper with a lopsided grin a small Asian man of late teenage years and unimposing stature, spends a moment thinking about where to spend some of his newly acquired wealth, while trying not to think of the dark dreams of the night before.

The dreams always come back. Having tried many treatments, legal or not, meditations and even black magic to stop the nightmarish dreams from coming back.

They always start and end the same. A mysterious figure in a plain white lab coat, his face covered with a mask, looking uninterestedly on as Ramsmei twitches and shrieks in pain. A powerful hum fills the room as giant capacitors and transformers store up and discharge unimaginable voltages into his always hurting body. The only words spoken are "More electron volts" as dials are turned up and the pain increases.

Ramsmei was born a happy child in a large family. A citizen of beautiful Cambodia. A county with lush vegetation and time honed Buddhist traditions. The child of moderately prosperous parents with many siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins by the score.

It wasn't until decades later Raksmei Loun even knew the name, "Khmer Rouge," and the reason his parents sold everything. All that they owned. Gathering the extended family. Wise father and Loving mother gathered the family. All of it. Brother, sister, cousin, aunt and uncle. Bribes were placed and finally a captain with a suitable cargo ship was found who was willing, for a very steep price, to take them all to America. The plan was to seek political asylum.

The captain was a small time smuggler. One of those petty souls who believes the world owes him. The kind of sad person who really would sell his mother for the use of a crack pipe.

The Loun family never knew the man they trusted for their salvation had already sold them all into slavery the day they boarded his ship.

In the Rogue Isles many things are legal, and even flourish, the rest of the world finds disgusting and abhorrent. Slavery is almost mild compared to what is allowed to take place under the rule of Arachnos and Lord Recluse.

Drugged in their sleep the Loun family woke up in a secret lab, funded by Aracnos and run by a twisted mind the term sadistic mad scientists barely describes.

The lucky ones died quickly during the first rounds of 'experimental' injections. With the sole exception of Raksmei, they were all condemned to a painful existence as one of the 'infected' those poor individuals who have been experimented on and dumped in a shanty town to fend for themselves, despite the genetic damage and mutations, or die.

Whatever the twisted chemicals and viral vectors with genetic payloads were supposed to accomplish is not know. The Sadist in charge may have only been testing their toxicity to humans, or how much pain they could inflict. No matter the goal, in Raksmei's very being, in his personal genome something evolved giving him unprecedented abilities to generate, control and discharge electricity.

At first it was only a spark or two, like petting a cat on a dry winter day. It was enough however to get him noticed for further experimentation. Dumped in an insulated cell by night. Only now for the first time in years getting almost decent food to keep the test subject echo-echo-four-one-niner alive. Day time was a decent into the red haze of pain. Strapped to a table, hooked up to generators and transformers designed to power a small factory, ever hearing "More Electron Volts.'

The generators powering Ramsmei's pain and suffering had a finite limit. Day after day, body wracked in pain, he slowly learned to channel and even hold energy within himself. After months of intense torture and pain Ramsmei had learned to smell the voltage and see the amps. A new Synesthesiac sense has developed and electricity had become his life's blood. Reversing the direction of the current and forcing megawatts of energy into equipment designed to give punishment not take it, Ramsmei took his revenge on the staff at the laboratory and made his escape all at once.

With the discarded newspaper on the ground a back page story is showing. The Rogue Island Police are looking for any witness to come forth in a bizarre accident. Mr. John Smith, retired after many years at sea running a small cargo ship, a resident of Cap Au Diablo these past five years was found on the docs last night dead of apparent massive electrical burns.

First:
I absolutely love it- the point of view, the narrative method, and the overall concept.  All very solid.  I'm also a big fan of tragic-past villains... where how the situations of one's life define a person. One could imagine how just a few positive differences could have taken someone a different path.

Second:
I'll put a plug in for fbsa.homecoming.wiki .  this would be a great addition.    Yes, the "concept" is an FBSA database, but there's no wrong format for a character concept or story.   It doesn't need to be written like a dossier for FBSA or anything like that.   It's just a good place to share your creations and their stories and maybe even draw inspiration from others.   PLUS, the character urls are relatively short- easy to include in a character bio.

IMO, the fbsa wiki is very good for this purpose. People can write a very detailed origin story without concern about character limits.

In-game bios should be brief, however, as people often only have limited time to read those things.(Usually while waiting for the rest of the team to show up, queuing for tf, etc)
