Dual

long ago i played a game called Marvel ultimate alliance

The premise was nick fury gathered random heroes to save the day

the game played a lot like diablo and was fun if you like that kind of game.

 

One day on a dare

I decided to play and beat the game solo with nick fury himself

proving that a hero wasn't actually needed to "save the day"

this would invalidate the premise of the game 

I don't remember the exact details of the bet

but I did win.

 

In an attempt to rekindle that sentimental nostalgia

I rolled a AR/Ninja blaster

Took no travel powers

And proceeded to do as much of the game as I could solo

 

I discovered some interesting things about this combo

It was not very strong

or very fast

or very durable

or very accurate

but it was/is crazy amounts of fun

 

one gun

one blade

wonderful

 

As the Altitus kicks in I wonder if I can keep the flame alive

heres my request

 

a secondary set for blasters

Something like "samurai Training"

but instead of 1 blade and stealth + crowd control

dual blades with a dash attack or a damage aura?

I'm really bad at balancing game mechanics

I'm hoping yall can flesh this idea out

Cause a Dual pistols/Dual blade char would be cool as heck

Its easy to criticize a suggestion but can you suggest an alternative?

I get what you're after, but I don't think dual blades would work as-is.  At the very least, you'd need the typical "maintain" power.  Maybe drop the combo mechanic and just utilize some of the DB powers as stand-alone's, with a few control-esque powers mixed in.  This is very rough, but perhaps something like:

 

1. Stare-down:  Ranged, single target fear that also applies a tohit debuff and greatly reduces the target's movement speed.

 

2. Power slice:  As per the dual blades power.

 

3. Ablating strike:  As per the DB power.

 

4. Build up

 

5. Typhoon's edge:  As per the DB power.

 

6. Warrior's spirit:  Toggle, self +acc, +recovery, absorb, resist fear & knockback.

 

7. Sweeping strike:  As per the DB power.

 

8. Intimidating challenge:  Works kind of like a scrapper's challenge power, only it also deals some psychic damage and applies a tohit debuff.

 

9. One thousand cuts:  Per the DB power.

 

Perhaps, instead of a combo system, this set could apply a special effect if an enemy has been stared down or intimidated, (like a -res effect or an added chance to knock the target down).
