Useful Mastermind Pet Macros?

Never thought to make one for goto, I'll definitely use that, thanks!

It's really helpful for melee pets or to simply get them out of chokepoints.  Heck, you can also do a similar bind for a single pet to use them as a sacrificial lamb to take the alpha...

Weirdly enough, when I try to use it as a macro it says that "goto" is an unknown command.

It may be because you need to direct them WHERE to go.  Still, some commands don't work correctly in macros or binds, (i.e. the pet emote command only works in macros, IIRC).

I'm just blind, I forgot to actually give it a name so now it works lol.

I use the following, binds rather than macros because they're the exact same across all masterminds. 

 

/bind Q "Petcom_all aggressive goto"
/bind E "Petcom_all defensive goto"
/bind R "petcom_all defensive follow"
/bind lshift+R "petcom_all aggressive follow"

/bind mbutton "petcom_all attack"

/bind lshift+mbutton "petcom_all stay"

 

Thats everything I need to control pretty much any MM. I've got both aggressive and defensive goto so I can bodyguard or blast away as needed, defensive follow is my reset button after a fight to go to the next group, aggressive follow is for specific situations (like mastermind monday when you really just need to let the pets do their thing)

Middle mouse lets me focus fire on a single target and shift middle mouse makes them stay which lets me control damage patch reactions and keep them from scattering. 

I also keep my pet window set on advanced controls. If I need to flip them into passive, I use that.

Bind breaks it but just typing it into chat to enter it immediately works. Macros you have to enter perfectly the first time, they cannot be corrected without breaking for some reason, so if you get a macro wrong you gotta fix it and try to remake it.

Despite having a full set of fine-control numpad binds, I (still!) find myself using only three keys and two power tray macros the vast majority of the time:


B "petcom_all defensive follow" [Bodyguard mode]
G "petcom_all aggressive" [aGgressive]
H "petcom_all passive follow" [Heel]
and usually also a Variable key which sets most pets to Bodyguard mode and leaves one alone (to instantly give me some survivability but let one pet continue to attack etc) e.g.
V "petcom_pow 'Battle Drones'follow defensive$$petcom_pow 'Protector Bots' follow defensive"

PowerTray #1 is set to "Attack this target" ("petcom_all attack" mostly, sometimes altered so just one pet attacks) and PowerTray #2 is set to "Go here" ("petcom_all goto").
On most maps I can enter a mission, press G then V and then amble around instructing my little engines of destruction to "go here" quite a lot. 

Don't switch modes too often unless you need to - shifting from Passive into Defensive or Aggressive will reduce your kill speed as pets take about 5-10 seconds to reacquire targets before they'll start shooting again.

An important thing to have though is a method of quickly resetting your pet AI whenever they're misbehaving - especially on teams. Setting pets to PASSIVE FOLLOW then immediately to DEFENSIVE FOLLOW (tapping H then B in my above examples) will clear their aggro list and force them to instantly start running back towards you... however if you just spam DEFENSIVE FOLLOW or DEFENSIVE GOTO then they will very likely just keep trying to chase whatever is currently shooting at them.

Switching to defensive seems to do the targeting reset. Like if you switch to defensive it takes 5 seconds before they will aquire targets even if you switch back to aggressive. However, if they've been in defensive for 10 seconds, you can then switch to aggressive and they will immediately aquire targets if targets are in range. So like, defensive follow after a group to reset, and then by the time you get to the next group you can aggressive or defensive goto to start that group depending on if youre taking an alpha or not. 

Theres almost no reason to ever use passive in a combat situation. Repeated defensive goto/follow commands will override other actions to recall pets and do so without breaking bodyguard.

Issuing the "Defensive" command unfortunately does not completely clear your henchmens' internal record of already engaged foes, instead it just alters their targeting preferences for any subsequently engaged foes.

Likewise, issuing the "Goto" or "Follow" commands just instructs your Henchmen to move to a specific location - it does not reset their existing aggro list. This is admittedly much less of an issue for Ranged pets these days ever since the AI changes in issue 26 pages 4 and 5 (which tethered Henchmen much more strictly than before to the general area that they have been told to "stay" or "goto") ...but "Henchman Scrapperlock" can definitely still happen occasionally, particularly with the melee primaries.

 

Issuing the "Passive" command will clear the list completely however; therefore quickly tapping "passive follow" (or "passive goto") before immediately swapping to "defensive" can still be a very useful tool to force the stubborn little blighters to behave themselves and LISTEN DAMMIT... 😠 📢 🙉 🙉 🙉

See, I like not resetting their aggro list so that if there's a runner they take off after him once the nearbys are dead
