Please implement a command a user can run to show how much inf each alt they play has.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I asked this yesterday cuz I "misplaced" 150M inf to another alt (and still haven't found it) -- is there a command one can run to see how much inf each of your alts have? That would be REALLY useful.  I polled in Help, and people said no -- consider this an official request.  It would save untold users a LOT of headaches.

Respectfully and with thanks,
@Transcendent Man on Excelsior

The idea was touched upon here.

I am sure that there are other threads as well.

My stance on this sort of thing is generally going to be "Sure.  More information and options are better", but resources are finite so ultimately the amount of work involved has to be weighed against the benefit of the result.

I would like to see every bit of useful information about a character available from the character select screen in some way, shape, or fashion, but how many hours of work would be involved and what else could be done with those work hours?

But in the meantime?
I still, to this day, have a notebook full of whatever information I thought would be useful to me from when I played back in the day.

Keeping a small tablet of paper handy and jotting down where you stashed some influence can save you from searching later if you have so many toons as to make going through them one by one feel impractical (but if you want the influence badly enough...).

Well, the day that happened to me (I found it all), I was running on maybe 3 hrs of sleep.  And that will happen with some people. 🙂 Not enough sleep == vaswtly prone to errors [over the last 2 months, I had a similar day where I was deleting alts with duplicate powersets, transferred 400M to 1...and accidentally nuked him.]

While this won't help you for getting that back and it is nothing against the OP, just e-mail your global the money. If your transferred inf' is just sitting in your global e-mail while you are reviewing and deleting characters, and you don't actually claim it until you are finished, then you won't have to worry about deleting the character after having just transferred your money to him/her/them/it, and it is readily available without need for looking up if you change your mind about who you want that money going to.

(Edit: Though in statement against the OP, a slash command isn't going to be that helpful. I don't think it will be able to access your other characters from the one you are currently logged in as. So just ask for it to be reviewable on the character select screen like @Greycat said.)(Edit again: Especially since if a player has LOTS of alts, a slash command that pulls all their data to show in your chat window will be a nightmare for that poor player to try to review.)

I agree with @Rudra on this. I email all my inf, merits,  emp merits,  and anything else that I'd like to keep track of to my banker toon.

This toon also does all my AH transactions as well just so I know what is comin in and goin out. Once he hits over a billion inf I email that and it sits until I need it.

Sure, it may seem like a ton of work but I know where all my important currencies are. This also includes purp, pvp, and rare recipes.
