So what now?

I'd find out what program is shutting down CoH.   According to the game log, it starts, but then exits.

Running Windows 7, so it's no longer supported by MS.   We're definitely in the "It's something Windows is doing" territory at this point.

So how would I go about that?

Bear in mind that as of last Friday. everything worked as normal - then on Saturday, it was like this.

I do not recall doing anything to change my computer in the interim...and the fact that MS is no longer supporting it should also mean it's no longer screwing with it, so it should at least be stable; weird.

If you have Windows Restore active, with viable restore points before the issue began, I would try running Restore to one of those restore points. If that doesn't do it I would just do a fresh install to a new folder on your hard drive, making sure it is NOT in program files or any other Windows controlled folder, such as creating a Games folder directly on your 😄 drive.

Cross your fingers...

OK! So I tried Windows Restore, first to 1 week ago - the anniversary of this problem! - then to 2 weeks ago:

1 week ago: I got an error. Windows Restore failed due to an "error". BUT...!

2 weeks ago: Windows Restore worked. BUT...!

Launcher still doesn't.

So I've moved onto trying to uninstall, BUT...!

I can't find the Launcher to uninstall it!

Is it possible that that, and/or the aforementioned Restore anomaly, are hints???

To find Launcher, right click on desk top Shortcut, select Properties. Target field will show install location.

It may be easier to use the add/remove programs tool in Control Panel to do the Uninstall.

That's what I tried; it didn't show up on the roster....

*poke*

I'm still in the same jam.

I was actually wondering, since we've been informed about Thursday, if there was any chance in hell the next update/maintenance might somehow fix it.

I'd doubt it.   Still need to find out the error message for why the program gets shutdown which would be in a system log (I think)

Did I not do that yet? You must not be talking about the thing I already shared.

You did not.  Like I mentioned, I'm not a Windows user.  You supplied the game log which showed the game starting and exiting.   System log might give us more of a clue.

On your Hard drive, locate game folder. You can find it's location by right clicking on desktop shortcut, target field is it's location. Go there and delete the folder ( should be C:Games ).

Go back to hard drive and create a folder called Games, download the Launcher and install it there.

This pic shows where to look.

OK!

After all that, you know what FINALLY made it work???

Switching from 64-bit to 32-bit.

Go figure.
