So, I have an arc set during WW2.  Each mission is its own thing, and they're not really related.  The arc starts in North Africa, then goes to Sicily, then to Europe, Berlin, and then finally Guadalcanal in the Pacific.  The problem is, I just don't like that last mission, and I can't think of what to do with it.

Right now, the "story" of the last mission is that you're being sent to Guadalcanal to locate the Stalwart Star, an American super-soldier you met in an earlier mission.  He's gone missing, and you need to find him.  What has happened is that he stumbled into a temporal incursion by Ouroboros, who has come back in time to stop the Rikti from giving alien technology to the Japanese.  So, you need to find the Mender in the zone, then go around and destroy the Rikti tech.  Simple enough... but it just feels tedious.

So, I've come here to see if anyone has any suggestions, what might I do with a story in the Pacific.  Ideally, there should be SOME kind of super-badguy for the hero to face off with, there's been at least one in each of the other missions.

One thing that might help is a map that has a cave system in it.  That is, ideally, the map would be like a jungle, but with a door somewhere that leads to tunnels.  I seem to remember there being such a map that goes from a wooded area into ordinary caves, but that turn into Rikti tech.  A map like that might be ideal for the mission I described above, but I can't find which map it was, or if there IS any similar map.  Any suggestions?

The only near-jungle maps that I can think of are the outdoor Nerva maps, but I don't think any of them transition to anything else.  You might consider splitting the mission into two parts, "part one outside, then part two inside the caves" but... you're out of chapters by then.  😕

Tim "Black Scorpion" Sweeney: Matt (Posi) used to say that players would find the shortest path to the rewards even if it was a completely terrible play experience that would push them away from the game...

Ya, it's a frustration.  I could use the Winter Lord map, it's a Croatoa map with the Winter Lord cave... but it's snowy.  Guadalcanal wasn't known for its arctic weather...

I don't know if you're already aware of him, but The Lord of Frosts may be of interest to you. He's Japanese and the leader of the Imperial Wind, Japan's superpowered strike force in the Pacific during WWII. He's also the Winter Lord's primary avatar, so he'd be more than capable of creating unnatural snow and ice. You could add further complications in the form of Captain Volcano, his American rival from the 1st Hero Brigade, (avatar of the Summer Lord) or having to handle other members of the Imperial Wind (who have no other named members, to my knowledge) allying themselves with the Rikti.

THAT could work.  Good call!
