Sulhythal Posted January 5 Posted January 5 ignore thematics for a moment, do they work together fairly well? Pros/Cons? I've been away from City for a while and never really tried out Marine. Playing with a friend with a marine Defender(only level 9 so far) they look really fun.
Warshades Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Marine is a new powerset and is the best secondary powerset that MMs can pick. Slotting for a lot of global recharge to make PotD near perma basically makes your MM and pets nearly unkillable when in defensive mode thanks to the large HP boost and regen. It will work well with all primaries. Right now however, I think Beasts are by far the weakest MM primary available. It will still work and play well together because marine is so strong, but don't expect it to perform as well as Mercs, Demons, Necro, Bots, Ninjas, or Thugs. 2 1
Force Redux Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I have a Beast/Marine. I think they go together like peanut butter and jelly. Beasts all clump up in melee and Marine likes melee. Beast may not be as competitive, but they are chainsaws on single Target. And they're fast. I say keep at it! @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds
TheSpiritFox Posted Tuesday at 10:06 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:06 AM Its a strong contender. Your aoe will still be shit, but your single target damage will be hilariously high when youre not using fortify pack, and you and your pets will become nigh unkillable when you are. The only real caveat is youre gonna be *busy*. Marine has a fair amount to keep track of, and beasts require you to be attacking alongside to help build pack mentality, its not like bots where two attacks every 30 seconds keeps your regen debuffs going. Youre gonna need a shitload of recharge too. Limits slotting options, even with Perma hasten my power of the depths is 6 seconds shy of perma, and while Marine is pretty solid in the endurance department, you're gonna need alot of endurance or you're gonna need to drop two +5 end reduction ios into your attacks or something to keep it all balanced.
Riverdusk Posted Tuesday at 10:29 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:29 PM (edited) Should be a solid combo and it is what I'd go with if I wanted to play beasts currently, although my beast/cold also isn't bad. Beasts may be considered the 'weakest' now, but I don't think they are that bad. The gap between best and worst mastermind primary isn't nearly as big as it used to be compared to back in the day when mercs were just pitiful and that gulf was huge.
