find contact fails with montague castanella

this started out as a bug report on closed beta, but i am moving to live because i replicated on live too. 

 

ok, on the closed beta server, i logged into a level 27 hero alt and used the find contact window to get TPed to Montague for an introduction. when i hit TP to contact, the TP failed and closed the window, and i had an error that said " [17:01] An error has occurred with the Contact Finder. No contacts could be found for your level, alignment, and universe." i could not reopen the find contact window. i log out and when i come back, the find contact window was accessible again, except this time i got the same error message when i went to the Montague window, not even touching the TP to contact button and the TP would fail.

 

i relogged again, this time i tried another contact and i was able to TP to them. then i tried montague again and i was able to successfully TP to him.

 

but, when i tried on several other alts that had not been introduced, contact finder failed on all 4-5 different alts with the same error message. with exception of one alt, where it worked. when i asked on CB chat if anyone else could reproduce this, one or two tried and were sucessful in TPing to Montague via the find contact window with no problem.

 

i am guessing that on all the alts that i have tried to see if it works that this was the first contact that i have tried to teleport to. the one sucessful TP was one where i had used find contact TP to contact already.

 

 

now, i have also sucessfully reproduced this on a level 10 alt that had not run any contacts, and the same error and failure to TP. i also got the same error message, but was able to TP to Montague, probably since they had already used the find contact TP once. 

 

 

any ideas? i have not seen this reported. it was reported for another contact in 2019. can anyone else reproduce this?

This happens to me occasionally on live as well, and it's not restricted to Monty.  I've had failures reaching Sam Wilcott, the angry young man in Faultline as well.  I have not been able to establish a pattern, but it seems to happen about 10-15% of the time.

there must be a file error somewhere, since it was cross server. for me it was only monty on closed and live. apparently, if you change zones it will reset something and you can use it again. never had it happen to me before...
