Is reporting inappropriate posting discouraged?

I reported a post, and now I am in a nanny state, where-by MY posts need approval. 

 

A system is only as good as it's enforcers. If a person using the correct method is, themselves punitively admonished, it seems disingenuous, at best.

 

The multi-million dollar website I help moderate ( since 2009 ) has weekly meetings about policy and policing. All actions taken are reviewed.  I hope, that is the case here as this makes little sense to me.

I'm not in any position to say why, but I have reported posts and never had that happen.  (Mostly spam posts though)

 

The powers that be won't discuss the actions here, but I hope they clarify why for you.

If you are talking about your post that got removed, I removed it manually. No automation involved. It wasn't you though, it was something else.

I'm not sure why your post required approval. 

 

My guess is that you somehow triggered one of our firewalls that initially blocks spam for Gummies, Travel, etc.  You might see Spam posts like that pop up occasionally before they get taken down.

 

While I am not 100% sure what keystrokes got your post flagged, I am 100% sure that it had nothing to do with any posts you may have reported.  Even if I did know the precise word or phrase that triggered putting your post up for review prior to publication, it would be a mistake to list that word or phrase to help others find work arounds for the firewalls.

Thank you for the reply. I was actually responding in my own thread with an update to my build. It included mids, and several screenshots. I've never encountered issues posting builds and the explanations before, however if certain phrases trigger a hold, it would make sense. It may be that I'm so loquacious I'm viewed as spam 🙂

No, and I agree that they should have been removed as they were not germain to the thread. Thank you for that.

Your post was filtered because the Mids data chunk contained a word that is on the list of spam words that required it to be manually approved.  I Approved the post  as I was filtering out spam.
