Gobbledygook Posted September 24 Posted September 24 When I first found out Homecoming was alive, the first character I rolled was a FmInv brute. I haven't played him in years. I know there were changes to both powersets, buffs, I think. I'm thinking of dusting him off. I know I had a bit of a difficult time getting him as tough as I wanted and still able to put out good damage. I don't have access to purples, Winter 'Os, or SHO/HO's but everything else is on the table. I only have his alpha slot unlocked, and I'd prefer to stick to the fire theme with epic powers and incarnate. I'd like to also have breath of fire. For concept reasons... If anyone has any practical advice, I'd love to hear it. If someone wouldn't mind posting a build, that would be cool, too.
Uun Posted September 24 Posted September 24 The changes to Fire Melee were reductions in cast times, changing the damage to 100% fire and adding -def to the sword attacks. The only changes to Invulnerability I'm aware of are the addition of a small amount of psi resist to Unyielding and Resist Energies and a small amount of psi/toxic defense to Invincibility. I don't have a Fire/Inv build, but would be happy to comment on yours if care to post it. Uuniverse
Gobbledygook Posted September 24 Author Posted September 24 I'll work on that as soon as I get home, thanks.

I've found that the key to survival is layering various forms of protection; Invuln offers good def and res, and eventually with IO set bonuses, you can cap some resists and get close to or possibly even exceed the defense soft cap in some areas. Fire melee doesn't offer much in the way of soft mitigation, but if you are intent on being as tough as possible, I'd also suggest looking into melee IO sets that also improve your def/res values. Invuln excels in s/l res, so that'd be a good starting point...
Gobbledygook Posted September 24 Author Posted September 24 I took a crack at it, but confused myself with my own rules for Enhancements. I guess a mid budget build and a no limit budget would be nice, if anyone wants to make any adjustments. |MBD;23557;1452;1936;BASE64;| |GwRcERWcEAAtDnhzLuQFS4VoYHP+Ou7rqBSdHVF6RD5A95k1JVpzU5p2Z3FpKXRMkov| |61CLey0/LN4tOV193sHlVEfczp2LT+ojd2/L8LBT7kog6spHkFj/Uf9z7TtoaO5O2LG| |MRtsm777HWVF23c6mlwH1ZSRVzSD21SVTOYU0hoQ6q6iUWVwvZdsawair8Ivk9GBuDs| |cgxFT2aCpmTMrTFz4IZdxMkP4NylBScRQk+pB0Uo2SWoJ9Tb3Rh0e3qrw6m8zVEXJzz| |TvjuTdT9xqy+EoQoJUfLxXJpJXjPfHskN8SL4IMIeE8NRxeP9P0CEYNcREmZF3E8Yge| |pp/d35IEOlFD4fryZPCtzFTm62+QbxJNuIn3bM3phu8r1rnwgc+0ZtPJOcWM1IjC1Fm| |lNq1ju0upt2v3j0fTEHqbmolskiNXvVmUl5m3PHPL4gIMp662w4ss7Y0oKtNpIBagzp| |o+qLUF1DRY3H1ofQVXW7YbD8jcsHvwLtN1kXAeFOz4v0yRrCrb06FUxNJH8lbnSidja| |XP9ilzPRmMvOxYOeZe0kg2DNuyvlHQaijyEc2Ttj3xPtZvCGEfxzMtwX/BJd50Qbvov| |ktn5RPLZ3KGaO13zIa+wIVk3YLhGTm7ZjxTY6nHUiRmhWFkIjmbdyFQtyi3XI27gtBX| |LUzClcl3hjuQy7iKaqQHFYb2KB52BC2imRnPnsuM9IiTCcebzapank8GDxZzhHdNd+l| |uICG8+xwibVApewS5QAUeWAPo/C4gtChmtE1Bc/oY64hn2H4kHGHjjElWoYh3VRQVi8| |pq/eeYomergDwyPiuo/oG9zW7JPhKO4lUHSzBWAcCRBsDWwVJCRz75ucjuM9O9yF4b1| |7lRWhYsHcNsnhJv9oHOqon2834gu/4ihvmatrjIBLDXGpTQvjFaTkioCzJ9muYAR2m6| |jCnHd/4Gs9cmZFEWagQ1g1+VO+r7Vh+ib9a7jlfjiRWft2Wvod67pVwIVSslBcA67Bm| |8eh7Lat6K3nFQaBB1wHVA9Lnogr1SxQUDrokKyOdwULHQLLrww2lEN1VkzbBZXpnKaH| |lILF3dX9hcelGvxSABPGGD6zAVcqrlTDTwWNgmTpD/JGcAMmDNNJ7XNp2Pr/vfjl5Tk| |6WAxae4bupxsGMJwLeSt6YxmCAdnxcF11jaQ3mFHDIKyzntPkAkn+rEdLBzpgg61hP9| |HIiU/XrarBJaNj4IGhyYXHtmTJXIbGmhduc3RYcvP7cCzfheKPTzEGiuLjc4O8AcaR3| |oA7EJcxkE7vkFrVTkeoVjYBKLab1jI8aLqXfFdorAy6adWUpUkkOLQ+XZUaeo09z5oW| |BpPkMwKp4uRd2sJtajb12uEVgAnD/McRf+RCa8Oir7GTyCUJkHTAGOyZpIKK5MI8K8V| |V3LTFXsANsp0D+wQ0CCV5k3kn6cHJnD4AL4Z9i0je8BBROtL+JakzAW+AtwPF8FG5AK| |NIqRFm2U/9ngGSturGccBQZJGAUjTiX33RQbEvvcq3n7gRvNH+GtgwbC3AaSVPdS0oG| |N7/qNwmMxDMe9QXyTwNEQl8udwW73UzQRE6BAIH9hP2eH03vUHfadsFPhi+bP6r5rDg| |qmeyWWtO8dry4PpecoF1nae0oTFDbTpLcKm6fDqxIbPOdu+6s8aeheJ0tVTjF6IDJlI| |l5A/OPBPyo2eK++r+/SxTW946ltn8tUUQ7Sdf80HvetQk2Ia9pSNgVRLEEGf95xnqUj| |vENA3TkZoC0G1+9W+YKY+aqPDLjwkc2fCSQ8zm/q+dvHdwqXJ7JDeo4iaJ8hOtbJRrx| |NiLsA0HT3G5ymIL6AqXcD+Bd+ckjcrcPkwr8X7y8Wv5BbEyRPHTshRs4PuXND23jC6f| |jgh+WayMcr4jUm13XpJ2vp4GU+cttqmPit+/vO3DtZU50ywWM8BzjKYeaMMO|
Warshades Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Not a budget build, partially procs out some powers like FSC, Fire Ball, and Char. May have endurance problems prior to getting cardiac core alpha (can go with musculature radial if you want more damage). Brute (Fiery Melee - Invulnerability).mbd
Uun Posted September 25 Posted September 25 2 hours ago, Gobbledygook said: I took a crack at it, but confused myself with my own rules for Enhancements. Too many slots in RPD. You want the two +def uniques and that's about it. 4-slotting UG for the melee defense bonus isn't productive. Invulnerability uses typed defense, not positional. Not sure what you're trying to do with Fire Sword and Cremate. Just 5-slot with Mako's or some other set. Split the Superior Brute's Fury set into 2 groups of 3 to double up on the 5% S/L defense bonus. Replace the dmg piece in Fire Sword Circle with Achille's Heel -res. 1 Uuniverse
