Titanium_Boy Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Long story short, I have a Win7 PC with more than enough required to run this game (which I did back in the mid-2000's on an older, lesser machine). I get at least 1 crash per hour, usually more, at random times, alone or in/near big groups doesn't seem to matter. No lag, just crash. I've also tried running in WinXP compatibility mode, and it still happens (though it didn't for over an hour right after trying that). Here is the data on the crash; if anyone has an ideas, please let me know and thanks in advance. Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: score.exe Application Version: 1.0.0.1 Application Timestamp: 5cc407ba Fault Module Name: nvoglv32.DLL Fault Module Version: 24.21.14.1170 Fault Module Timestamp: 5baa70f3 Exception Code: 40000015 Exception Offset: 00bda299 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 025a Additional Information 2: 025a758a930592f7807465dc27fc8a05 Additional Information 3: d630 Additional Information 4: d630631c323b4ca6b3e1e2974c2a4afb
The Fifth Horseman Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Fault Module Name: nvoglv32.DLLThat indicates the crash has something to do with DLLs used by Nvidia for OpenGL support. What's your GPU and what's your driver version?
Titanium_Boy Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 I've got a Nvidia GeForce GTX 650. Hmm...a new driver came out on 4/23/19 and I hadn't installed it yet. I will give this a try and go from there. Thank you!
Titanium_Boy Posted May 10, 2019 Author Posted May 10, 2019 I've updated the Nvidia drivers, and some days I don't crash at all, while others it's anywhere from 1 to 4 or 5 times still, with the same error message. Even since the recent patch for the game itself. Getting frustrating not being able to play this older-style game on a newer system.
Titanium_Boy Posted May 10, 2019 Author Posted May 10, 2019 Ok, Nvidia had another driver update today. Before AND after installing it, I got multiple crashes -- both standard ones, and whole system/screen freezes necessitating hard reboots. Why is this happening?!?
The Fifth Horseman Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Is this happening in any other game, or just in COH?
Titanium_Boy Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 Only in CoH. I mean, R6-Siege crashes every once in a while, like 1/week or 2/month, but nothing as repeated and pervasive as this. Tonight it crashed twice, once after just a few minutes logging in, and then after about 1.5 hours. And in that long span, now all kinds of surfaces in the game environment are flashing at me, even character costumes sometimes. The random/excessive crashing is quite disappointing.
Titanium_Boy Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 I've been doing some web research about the file, nvoglv32.dll, and perhaps this forum answer might work. I do have that file on my PC, but it's in the SysWOW64 folder...the System32 folder only has the nvoglv64.dll version of the dll file. Perhaps the Score.exe application is looking for the 32-bit version of this file in the wrong place? Would it hurt to copy the 32 version out of the SysWOW64 folder and simply paste it into the System32 one? https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/479606/geforce-drivers/strange-location-of-nvoglv32-dll-and-nvoglv64-dll-files/
Titanium_Boy Posted May 14, 2019 Author Posted May 14, 2019 I actually placed the copied dll file into the same folder where all of the 'new' CoH files are located (apparently My Documents is where Score decided to default install them), and...so far so good, just a few screen 'burps' now & then, like it was about to crash but kept running fine. *fingers crossed*
Impish Kat Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 I'm assuming you have added the score executable to the NVidia control window for your GForce? I had horrible lag and crashing until we finally figured out that simple fix.
Titanium_Boy Posted May 15, 2019 Author Posted May 15, 2019 Alright, I'll give that a go as well. Fingers crossed again, hehe. Thanks for the advice! (I never had any lag, just random crashing. Both normal (where I could copy & paste the error log data), and whole screen/system freeze-ups where the only option was hard shutdown/reboot.)
Korbian Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 I'm not super computer smart, but when I was having similar issues back when Paragon Chat was new it was because my graphics card was FUBAR.
Titanium_Boy Posted May 19, 2019 Author Posted May 19, 2019 Hmm, well my graphics card works fine on other games. I suspect the end result of all of this will be I'll have to reinstall the whole game/launcher. The crashes today included an entire system freeze-up, screen/keyboard/everything, necessitating a hard Reset/reboot; and 2 of these: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: homecoming.exe Application Version: 1.0.0.1 Application Timestamp: 5cdc92a3 Fault Module Name: nvoglv32.DLL Fault Module Version: 26.21.14.3064 Fault Module Timestamp: 5ccf9a53 Exception Code: 40000015 Exception Offset: 00c597a9 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: ad90 Additional Information 2: ad9030b76576f8551bf9a9ef02e5da9f Additional Information 3: 28b1 Additional Information 4: 28b131ca60c3b0d9c7aa589a7d7314bf
The Fifth Horseman Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 Check the fixes described for OpenGL issues with Win 10 / Intel HD. Sincce you're getting a crasl in OGL DLLs these might be useful for you too.
