Am I the Only one Annoyed by this?

I've always been big in creating teams.  Every once in a while I'll get someone who says "you should increase the difficulty level.  I usually run it +2 or higher. I get annoyed by some players who have to say something expressing their dissatisfaction with the difficulty of a mission. I must say I enjoy helping others. If it's to help a player clear an older mission i find joy in helping them knock it out. Sometimes I'll have a player who'd 2 or 3 levels below me.  If their mission is in the same zone we are currently in I offer to help them clear it knowing its a little lower than me. If there are others on the team I'll ask if everyone's on board. 99 percent of the time people are cool with it. There's always that one guy who has to say something. And in some of those instances they live.  I'll admit I am relieved when they do.

Gonna play devil's advocate to a certain extent in this response.

Perhaps Im not reading what you wrote clearly but why some one suggesting to increase the difficulty level is such a negative thing?  Is it because they suggest it and it isn't what you, as the seeming team leader, wanted to do per your beliefs on the matter?

If making it higher would be of benefice to everyone, do you think that still would be unreasonable?

Are you ensuring that your help is being subordinate to the needs of the members of the team?

Playing CoH/V shortly after release (and through to the official servers shutting down) taught me a lot of good lessons in my early 20s about teamwork and team dynamics. The way I saw it, if I was joining someone else's team, it wasn't about what I needed; it was about making things easier for the team leader and the group. If I wanted something for myself, I played solo. Otherwise there's nothing wrong with making polite suggestions about increasing difficulty, mob sizes, elite bosses, etc., but to openly express dissatisfaction about team orientation, difficulty, etc. is counter-productive. If you don't like it, leave the team. Otherwise be part of the solution.

I understand and increasing difficulty does lead to better Rewards. I just get tired of seeing people complain about the difficulty in some of the missions sometimes I'm so tempted to make the difficulty on Impossible if I could and let them take point. I guess I'm just a different kind of player I'm playing the staff fun and also try to succeed but I just find it funny how one person has to constantly bring it up.

But that sounds less like being helpful and more about being passive aggressive when someone disagrees with the way you want to do something, whether you're potentially right or not.

I think the evidence is compelling that if one wants to be a good leader, that they work with the group to best determine what works best for them.  Sure if all give it a go and it flounders, then a good team adjusts from there and moves on.

Will there be negative neds n nelly's sure but its better to mitigate their cynicism than to passive aggressively feed into it.

That's when you really start to be more of a "hero" because you're not only helping to contribute to making the team better but the game experience for everyone in involved too.

Never try to impose "help" on others.  Its not help then. Its a hindrance.

The problem is this is not always 100% true.

Rewards over time are more important than rewards per mob. I can't tell you how many times I've been in a team steam rolling +2/3 mobs for fantastic XP/minute. Then someone suggests we bring it up to +4 for Maximum XPage!!.

The end results? We no longer steam roll. Each group takes 5 minutes to defeat. This is especially true of Freaks and their boss tanks. The XP per mob does not make up for the difference in kill speed. This happens a lot if the leader is the highest level. Suddenly the rest of the group is fighting +5 level mobs and the purple-patch rears its ugly head.

Also kill speed leads to more drop potential. As (afaik) level difference does not increase recipe nor salvage drop rate.

When this happens I tend to politely back out of the team after the mission as fighting the same group for 5 minutes is not my idea of fun.

I mean, honestly, for teaming, anything less than +2 is less efficient than soloing...
