  1. Regarding Storm you could skip: Gale, Snow Storm, Hurricane and Thunderclap. Storm Summoning is end heavy and 3 of the mentioned powers will not affect greatly your overall defenses/attacks. Gale is a minor Knockback, Snow Storm is an expensive end toggle you will not able to afford and provides just slows on target (you have Freezing Rain for that). Hurricane is other expensive end toggle that will keep foes away from melee range and will apply -to hit. Thunderclap is just a disorient.

With this said i think you will find better choices chosing patron/epic powers that can give you more dps or defenses. In my case i got my /Storm with Soul Mastery where i take the shield + power boost + Fortunata Pet and Sould Drain.

Setamy Mist is a good power for slot LoTG +rech. O2 Boost can be slotted with 6 Numinas for ranged +def  bonus or any heals set for +rech bonus . Freezing Rain can be slotted with Achiles Heel unique. Tornado is a power you want to slot with Force Feedback +rech and Knockback to Knockdown IO.

you want 3 lightning storms and absolute chaos.

And this.... thats the final goal.

In general what i did with my /Storm is aim for +ranged def softcap then +rech and get my endurance "fixed" with Agility/Ageless incarnate.

So fellow players, what're your experiences that can help sway me towards another Dominator?

Hi there! I have many dominators but in regards your question about experience i must say that if i have to choose between Illusion, Fire and Plant... ill go with Plant. The reason is because offers the best AoE control with a good dps. Carrion Creepers is an amazing AoE attack that you can proc and Fly Trap is a very nice ranged pet. Seeds of confusion is the best cone AoE confusion in game with fast animation and also good recharge.  Illusion is great from DPS stand point with it lacks of control in my opinion. However (even you didnt put it like a choice) Dark Control is for me the most fun and best primary for a Dominator. The pets, the control tools and the -to hit inherent is just perfect.

Regarding Secondaries i really enjoyed /Dark. Got decent damage a good heal and the best:  gather shadows that boost everything. Martial is great for AoE and ST damage. Trick Shot is chain AoE attack that you will love in big groups and also animation for the whole set is really great. I would pick Martial because it offers more variations if you want to go solo or in teams.

I hope you find a good combo that this time makes you enjoy Dominators and gives you an smooth ride to Lvl 50.

  3. Illusion/Storm is the strongest combo i played. You can solo any GM/AV/EB in game. There is not anything in game you can tear apart with PA and the continous debuffs from Storm Summonning pseudo-pets.

Add Lore Pets and Incarnate buffs/debuffs and you are in god mode.

  4. My favorite pet is Animated Stone. When this pet got buffs from healing/resist secondary you have your own personal tank. Patron Pets as Fortunata and Mu Pet are great help if you are not a dps archetype. Besides Mu Pet is healer for you and your other pets. Very handy.

Regarding Lore pets in some of my charcaters must fit the theme. I like Ring Mistress from Carnivals. It does a significant amount of damage is fast and stays usually safe in range. I hate Banished and the big red robot for heroes... those are an obstacle for my screen view. I would strongly advice to reduce their size.

As a special mention the doggie pet from Dark Assault/Control is maybe the most effective pet in game. Is a perfect mix of dps/debuff.

Sometimes I take pets. Sometimes not. No one size fits all.

I agree that builds could be in many flavors but if you are talking about a SOLID build, you want to take Phantom for the reasons i mentioned above. Otherwise you are not aiming for the maximum dps that Illusion can provide. But you are right... there is not must... only suggestions.

Not suggesting you dump Elec Affinity if you like it, just some slotting pointers

That Elec/Poison build looks fun to play with. The reason to pick Elec Affinity was not repating sets that already have in other characters. I got a Beam/Poiosn defender which is a monster in TFs. Never tried ELA and i was curious to see if the set provides me enough buffs/debuffs to solo end content. I just got the Gremlins last night and didnt play solo with them yet, i want to see if the buffs from ELA are enough to get the pets to tank and do enough DPS.

Im stealing your build for my next /Poison Troller. Thanks for sharing

I'd find a way to proc slot the hell out of jolting chain at the very least as the chains can proc, and that will help your DPS.

Thats what i thought as well. However if i do so with my current build ill be losing softcap defense. Maybe ill sacrifice some + rech bonus from the holds and use 6 set Lockdown to replace +def im losing from jolting chain. Ill comeback later with an alternative build. Thanks for the suggestion.

It's a mixed bag. I would drop Amp Up for the GS if not another power. Your main sapping is coming from CF and CA. CA is properly slotted for the task, CF isn't IMO.

Thanks a lot. This is a helpful advice. Ill move ATO to other place and re-slott CF. Thanks!

  9. 5 hours ago, Zect said:

Right now, the only good sapping power in this so-called "sapping" build is power sink, which means your sapping power will be weak until fairly late

Ok you are wrong here. Electric Conntrol/Assault got -end inherents all accross the powerset. Im lvl 32 and without Powersink i can keep all npcs drained already.

    5 hours ago, Zect said:

This build also has lackluster damage potential, due to a lack of damage procs and poor slot-efficiency

I would like to see your "efficient" build for this combo and see your goals. Im assuming you played these sets? Let us see what you got so we can learn. Then we can compare your totals vs mine.  Just critique without any constructive feedback and proposal doesnt help.

  10. Here is my build. As i said before the goal was to softcap ranged defense (+/-45%) and also get all the recharge bonuss i can. Regarding pets i aimed to get Mu pet over Galvanic Sentinel because i found better utillity with his heals, dps and endurance drain.

Doms have a pretty hard time keeping pets alive compared to trollers

Sorry i disagree. Phantom is a big part of your DPS for skipping due the reason you mentioned which is also questionable.  Controllers may keep pets healing due secondary, but dominators have better  tools to suppress incoming damage as sleeps. holds, inmobs etc with permadom.

So you can "keep your pets alive" if you do your permadom control job right.

In my opinion to have Illusion control without Phantom is big mistake.

  12. Hey Everyone! I just started with an Elec/Elec troller yesterday and already got planned on MIDs a decent build (i believe) mostly focused to softcapp ranged defenses and recharge.

I´d been checking Corruptors and Defenders builds in order to pick or discard some powers for Electrical Affinity. So my question is: how necessary is to pick Galvanic Sentinel? In terms of pets already got 2 Gremlins from Electric Control and also i will be picking Mu Pet as well. It looks unnecessary or not critical to pick Galvanic Sentinel also considering some comments i read regarding this pet being stuck or killed easyly by npcs.

Does anyone have a different opinion or experience with this pet that makes me reconsider to pick it as part of my build?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I'm always on the lookout for new sent combos to try - could you elaborate upon this one a bit?

Sadly i dont have the mids file to share my build. The idea to mix Psi/Dark was to have enough +rech to have psychic wall up as soon as possible. On the /Dark side was to softcap resist and S/L defense and also get Obscure Sustenance +end +regen  (dark is very end heavy) available with Ageless on the background as back up. Also picked Psi Mastery due Link Mind wich is perma giving me more +def bonus.

We all know end contet is Psi damage mostly and Dark with Willpower are good sets to counter that.

Also i wanted a demon themed character.

Here is a video doing 54 x 8 Councils with the build glimpse. Sorry for the slow going while playing but i didnt play with this sentinel for a long time.

    4. Will 4 pts. knockback protection from Blessing of Zephyr be enough? I took acrobatics because I felt like that was a free slot and I could use some more protection.

Oh i forgot! This is an unnecesary concern. You will live in permadom and KB protection is not required at all. Cheers!

  15. Hey Sleepy! I checked your build and you did a good job balancing between + rech and +def ranged.

However im not a fan of Ice Mastery and my reason is that Ice Armor provides S/L defense only and  doesnt provide +res to stack with tough. +Res is not a minor thing for me... even if you are softcapped in range you still will recieve hits and whenever they go through your defense you will need a "secong layer" to absorb the impacts.

For these reasons i would rather pick Psionic Mastery. So i put together an alternative build for you with Psionic Mastery with the next highlights:

    - 185 % rech (+3% more than yours)

    - Perma Link Minds which provides +46% def ranged

    -58% S/L Resist (+20% more than yours)

    - Fky Trap 6 slot with resist bonus

-Roots with Fiery Orb (is better to have the orb there you can keep spamm and increase the chances)

    - Better +regen and +recovery thyan yours

With this build you will gain better survavility and stand by your own on any TF or end content.

    Here is my take.

I'd probably drop LS and EA entirely. Pick up arcane bolt, and a blast/aoe from fire/ice/earth etc. Then plan on taking agility to fill in some defense/recharge. Containment should make your personal dmg decent

Thanks for the suggestion! i liked that Ice Mastery build option. Ill check it and probably test it.

If i were you i'd drop the pet for soul drain and find a way to fit in arcane bolt or just switch epics for 1 with a good fast recharging single target attack.

Well one thing i noted is that Animated Stone is a decent Pet but is too ST focused. The idea behind to grab a second pet was to gain some extra DPS without expending my own resources when attacking. I can keep locking/debuffing NPCs while these 2 pets do their job. Also tested both with GM Ghost Srappyard and i can keep them alive easy with my current set up. Animated Stone + Fortunata  becomes very tankie with Wild Overgrowth + Wild Bastion.  The reason to pick Souls Mastery was also to get Dark Obliration as a AoE ranged attack. That helped a lot with the lack of AoE DPS with this combo.

However your suggestion is interesting and ill give it a shot to find a secondary build as per your suggestions. Thanks!

The ST hold of any controller should generally be 6x damage procced. Neuronic shutdown, GW embrace, gladiator's net, unbreakable constraint, gladiator's javelin, apoc. It does really good DPS. And that's all I got, because my eyes gave up.

Thanks but ill rather would keep the +rech bonus from BG. Besides I dont think there is a rule about how to slot a ST hold for controllers.

  18. After watching a Nature Affinity MM when teaming running radios i was surprised about how much incidence Nature can have on teams. So decided to give it a try regardless healer roll is not my thing in this game.  I was so wrong... this was not only about heals.

Earth / Nature combo got so much sinergy due positional AoE powers on Earth and also positional heals/buffs in Nature. Going solo at the beginning is hard until you get your pet. In my opinion one pet wasnt enough, Animate Stone is too ST and it takes long time to kill stuff if you are soloing against a large NPC group. So i decided to pick a Soul Mastery pet in order to help with dps and also went with Dark Obliration to push more damage.

The build below was created mostly to solo any end content and also team for any TF. The goal was softcap +def ranged (its close 41%) also get PP pet perma (accomplished) and get as much +Rech to have Overgrowth, Wild Bastion and Wild Overgrowth up as quick as possible.  Perma Hasten achieved.

In order to test my builds always tend to solo Ghost of Scrappyard. So far with Incarnates in T2-3 i got a tie... we cant kill each other but im expecting to kill Ghost when i reach T4 incarnate. Just dropped half of the life bar on him so far and still need more dps /debuffs.

If you have any advice for improvements that will be great.

Feel like I'm going to have to frankenbuild something based on two other builds; not ideal but wouldn't be the first time.

A good start point as a build goals would be: S/L resist cap and also +Def (at leas ranged) softcap. Then i would go for +rech mostly to get your heal back as soon as possible. The only achilles heel of Electric armor is the slow recahrge for healing in my opinion.  My TA/Elec Scrapper was built with the goals mentioned above and can run any end content without issues.

  20. My main was MA/Ninj before the game shutdown. MA is a ST oriented power set mostly with the disorient inherent in some powers. Many people will recommend you not to play it beacause the set is a Smash/lethal damage the more resisted in game and add that you Stalker MA version doesnt have Dragon Tail (AoE sweep) as a crowd control.

However MA is very powerfull for stalkers. DPS is high coming from hide and you will not have issues soloing +4 bosses by your own. The knockback in Crane Kick will provide you some "control" if you are overwhelmed by any NPCs and you were correct Eagle Claw has a chance to disorient besides the extreme damage.

The set is fun and has some good tools built in to enjoy the game. Is not the best or most OP set for stalkers but still very enjoyable.  My next character will be a MA/Fire Scrapper.

  21. Well i spent the whole morning gathering IOs and stuff and finally came out with a build for my Scrapper. Handled to cap resists and softcap M/R/A defenses with a decent +rech. This build requires to spam Defensive Sweep in order to keep melee defense softcapped. So far  my scrapper is doing good in 54 x 8. Of course im open to any suggestions.
