  3. Hello! I have many 50s so far mostly all ATs in game but a Corruptor. When i pick a new toon to play i always look into not common power combinations what always leads me to some wierd synergies between primaries/secondaries. With this in mind i decided to approach to build a Corruptor focused mostly in debuffs. I didnt see anyone in game with this two sets combined what kind of surprise me because i believe dark and trick arrow can complement very well creating a -to hit -res -slow lethal combo. 

    So the idea with this character is attack in range (def softcapped) enhancing debuffs with powerboost and team play oriented. I tried to place ATOs where can trigger procs more often but ended to slot SSB ATO in Nightstar because cant find other power to slot it losing ranged softcap. Rech bonus is at +70% + Hasten very decent. I didnt use purple sets because i aimed to get my defense over +40% and im not cray about te get recharge at any cost. 

    Well if you have any advices/inputs... all ideas are welcome. Just keep in mind softcap defense is not negotiable at least for me. From that starting point any improvements on this build and combo are appreciated. Thanks!

  4. Hello! Here is my take regarding your build. 

    Improvements:

    - Softcaped S/L and Ranged Def

    - More effective stamina added 1 slot. Artic Air is a very expensive toggle and besides you will be running Weave/Maneuvers/Frosen Armor/CJ

    - Sleet and Thorn drops are proc sloted with +chance res debuff and chances for damage

    -Switched Superior Ascendancy to Block of ice. You want to spam it so can 3 stack +chance for damage

    -Glacier has +2 mag proc slotted... so boom now you can mag hold an entire group

    -Build Up with +chance for BU. Believe me this will make a huge difference in your dps

    -Hoarfrost with better healing + Numina Proc Reg/Recov

     

    Observations:

    - As you see i didnt touch your powers selection. Personally i wouldnt run Ice without Jackie-O Frost. His damage and holds are too good. He is very handy.

    - Artic Air is somekind of nice to have but if you go that route you will need to think grabbing Cardiac when incarnate. AA is just too end expensive and the utility is not that great

    - Rech is at 87.5% kind of tight but is up to your attention to not lose domination and press button asap

    Other than that... you picked one of the most wierd combos around. I hope you have fun with it and let me know if this build worked for you if you decide to use it.

    The "Good old days" are gone my friend. Mind doms are not LRSF superstars and team wise people want Earth/ Ice/ Fire/ or Plant/ on their teams. Today everything is speed run and kill fast... and Mind doesnt bring great dps compared to the rest. 

     

    Mind got better overall control than the rest but fails on dps badly. Anything Fire/ or Plant/ will kill NPCs faster than Mind. Mind leans on secondary powerset to fill dps hole. Thats why Mind/Fire or Mind/Energy are most common combos. Mind requires a high dps secondary to catch up with the rest. Try to play a Mind/Dark/Rad etc... You will be struggling killing mobs. 

     

    Also not agree with your opinion about Ice. This set got great tools backing up your survavibility maybe less than the other power sets but shines on teams. Ice slick is just too good by itself  shutting down complete NPCs groups and if you add Glacier on the top... boom! Everyone loves a Ice Dominator in their teams. 

     

    Even Dark is better than Mind. 1 targeted AoE Hold 1 AoE Stun 1 Cone Fear + Inmobs and a 3 Pets. You have it all... crowd control, dps, damage mitigation. No mass confuse... well you cant have it all but is not missing considering all the tools you have in this set.

     

    I think everyone got a favorite primary but if we go to the field is not about what you like the most is about what is more effective in terms of control+dps+mitigation etc. I do have Plant/ Mind/ Ice/ Dark/ Elec/ and after playing a lot with all my doms my Plant/MA is way ahead of the rest. He can stomp in 4x8 faster than any of my other doms. Is too good that is boring sometimes.

     

    However you survavility in game today is about reaching defense softcap + permadom.  In an uncontrolled game enviroment, lets say a Tank pullng 3 groups or a team partner aggroing by mistake 1/2 groups, the only thing will keep you standing is your softcap defense.  When teaming i can tell which dominator is softcapped and which not. Generally not softcapped are with the team mates on the back in range close to the healer. The softcapped Doms doesnt wait for the tank or the Brute.... they jump in middle of the NPC´s and shutt everything off.

     

    Primary set is somekind of relevant for your survavility but softcap defense is key in all senses running TFs Teaming Trials etc.

     

  6. Hi! I cheked your build... good job with your ranged Def. You handled to softcap w/o Maneuvers and Epic Def shields.

    So this is what i would do: drop soul drain, grab HoD, 3-4 slott in Life Drain (Gather shadows will increase your heals) and go for any +rech stun set in HoD 5-6 slots.

    Also i added 1 purple set in confue if you can afford it and you can also use other purple set in HoD if you have the inf.

  8. Hi!!! Great build you got there. Just one thing i would modify.... your stamina. I would drop Winter Gift from Combat Jumping place it in stamina and your extra slot in mental blast i would place it there as well or up to you. But at least have 2 Perf shifter there as a minimum. I like to have 3 slots always.

    Other thing you can think about: try to fit in your snipe. Is a great source for your DPS and your highest ranged attack...you will need it.

    Other than that looks like a killer build to me. Good job!

  9. I have Plant/ and Dark/ dominators. My recomnendation if this is going your first Dom...go /Plant. 

    Dark requires a little more management positioning yourself to drop fear / Inmob cones right not adding Stun + Attacks etc 

    Plant just requires you to drop seeds of confusión and then the rest. 

    Watch some videos and you will have an idea what fits for your playstyle.

  10. Hi! I have a Staff/Rad Scrapp Full IOs Lvl 50+. You are correct sadly SF lacks of dps burts. Not having Build Up or something similar hurts the set somehow. 

    Here a few things you can try in order to get some burst or increase dps a little. 

    Slot Decimation chance for build up in Serpents Reach. 

    When hit 50 go alpha incarnate Musculature and Hybrid Assault. 

    Thats would help to get your DPS decent.

     

    You are lvl 27. When you hit 32 and get Skysplitter it will make a difference. 

    Just keep going it will get better after 32.

  11. Hello. First at all the build you requested was somekind of challenging to do. In general when i build a Dominator i always softcap defenses, but with your power choices is not possible to do so.

    What i tried to do with this build below then is to achieve some survavility using Tough+Fire Shield. So is almost softcapped to S/L Res 71%. Thats why i fit Aid Self to help a little considering you will be taking hits and not evading or deflecting.  In order to add more resits i recommend you consider taking Barrier incarnate.

    This build is permadom + permahasten as well. Is not cheap and have not travell power as you requested.

    Hey! I'm interested as well. Reggarding this comment above..  thats great to know. The thing is that not too many Doms use that set because Expedient Reinforcement  offers + Rech + esist Pets unique + Def 6 slotted. 

    With this info you sharing now i can consider to fit SA in some builds.

  14. Ok here is my take with your dark themed dominator . Leaving behind the idea of not softcapping defenses (is imposible with your power selection following your concept) i decided to softcap S/L 75 % resistance. Is not a life saver but is the most common type of damage around. 

    Rech is 107.5% close to permahasten. 

    Last thing.... is going to be crazy expensive. However could have some survivability in melee range and DPS wise should be OK.

  15. Hi! Good thing you picked a Dominator. Is a great AT with lot of fun and some challenging playstyle.

    You are asking for advice and i would give you mine from my personal experience with both sets (got a Dark/Rad and a Mind/Dark) besides strategy/playstyle aproach.

    A few things to consider about Dark as primary: the set invites you to go melee. Why? Heart of Darkness is on the best Stuns and you will need to step in middle of the NPCs yo use it. Shadow field also will put you somehow close as well. Fear cone/Inmob needs to be dropped close not from range.

     

    Dark Assault is great for -To hit inherents and got the best single target heal Life Drain and one of the best "do it all" buttons for Doms: Gathet Shadows . Downside is that this set is not great doing DPS as Fire or Energy etc. 

    Ok now lets go answering your questions and doing some observations.

    With the current IO sets advantages you can softcap defenses S/L and ranged without sacrifice permadom. Going with not defenses could work if solo and will require you to stay in range. You will no be using full potential of your powers if you don't go at melee. So short answer: think again... You could have defenses and permadom both and stand on your own feet on any instances

    Haunts are good for two reasons: a) Will distract and keep NPCs to not attacking you and wolfie. b) Stacks nicely with Wolfie attacks. DPS is not great but think in utility. Wolfie is a tankie wanna be but drags to much attention from NPCs and die fast if You don't help him. Haunts is a resource to keep your Wolf surviving.

    Not requires. Permadom will bring stamina to you often. However your 1 slotted stamina will get you nowhere. Optimal recommended is 3 slots 1 Perf Shifter End Mod 1 Perf Shifter +Chance + End Mod IO.

    Now lets talk about your power choices. 

    Invis+ Stealth+Phase shit. Why? Not required and will not help with your survability. Drop them and learn how to play without them. 

    Hasten + Tough (as a mule for +Def uniques) Weave + Frost Shield + Mace Shield + Maneuvers. Thats what i pick usually as pool/ancillary choices.

    Read your contradiction. You are slotting healing sets in a great attack power. Not need. Slot attacks IOs and use Gather Shadows before spam LD. That would do the magic.

    Remember this set is not a heavy hitter so attacks must be slotted for damage. Butter and bread on my attack chain: Gather Shadows + LD + Midnight Grasp + Smite + Moonbeam. Confuse ST hold in between. If i have to pick between Gloom or Smite i'll go with Smite that hits harder. You slotted Apoc in Gloom. As a rule of thumb: purple sets slot first on high damage attacks.

    Ok playstyle. On the way you got your build it looks you are planning go ranged and squishy. And it's fine will work in some scenarios. TF / AV / Big NPCs mobs you will need help... Inspirations or friendly healer buffer. Is about you and the way you play. I play to stand in my own and go melee besides Tanks and Scrappers because dominators have great melee options. Thats why i softcap defenses and permadom.

    I like your Dark themed Dom. Is a nice concept. Is challenging building a concept character because sometimes you need to sacrifice effectiveness following your concept. Thats what i did with my Elec/Elec MU sapper Dom. Dropped Def softcap in some build aspects and gamble to end drain NPCs before get hurted. And it worked.

    I might play with your concept in MiDs and comeback to you with my own build if it helps.

    Quick question, tho: why Cimeroran for Lore? Any specific mechanics reason, or you just like the way they look?

    Cimerorans are top DPS lore pets. You have to paths to pick with Cimerorans incarnate. The path i chose is with heals pet besides the DPS pet. Both are great for damage and buffs.

  19. Hi! I used to have one before game shutdown. Was my inf farmer. He was a Dps machine very effective and decent.

    Do you have any preferences about how to approach to your requested build? Want him Def softcap or Permahasten? What about your budget? Can you afford 2-3 purple sets + Dominator Sets? Or want something cheap?

    Im not happy with the inmob skip either but i didnt try it myself yet. Im asumming that whormholing NPCS will put them in range so you can just drop AoE without running after them. However it needs to be tested. Thanks!

    I will say in my build instead of using a lot of set bonuses to get high diff I rely on powers to get me to a soft capped def. Just about every build I look at who tried to soft cap def I notice their end burn is ridiculously high and have powers activated they aren;t going to use in battle together. Like someone making a build with combat jump and hover activated with no end redux in them. Spreadsheet numbers look good until you put them in use,

     

    As far as your dom I think you did fantastic on your build. We teamed together and both held our own. 

    I agree with you... there is not just one way to make it work even we disagree about some def stuff. As i said... there is a "fine tunning" when you finish your builds. Already respected 3 times my Dark/Rad just to adjust some minor holes and after realize is a purely melee dom. I mean everyone will find they own way to succed with their builds. We all agree... permadom is a must. From there you can follow any route as you gain experience with your build.

    We teamed together and both stand in their own feets very well. Thats enough probe for me to not discard any build without def.
