I don’t think it has the same taunt that it has on tanker and brute sets, but I could be wrong. I never notice it creating more agro than normal.

No idea where my posts are ending up (tried posting twice and neither have shown up here), but I really loved your build, Constantine. I think the added capped range defense is well worth the sacrifice to global recharge. I did swap out flight for leaping and went ahead and took acrobatics. I got rid of the slot in aim and a slot in stamina, but not sure where to put them. Currently added one to one of the shields for the +6% accuracy (probably not worth it honestly, but not sure where to put it) and I added a knock back protection to tough. My knock back protection with this additional IO is up in the 20s, which is probably excessive. I was trying to figure out where I could get a 5th LoTG recharge IO, but couldn’t come up with anything. My other two posts I made had the updated build but they for some reason won’t post. I still really want to try Darkir’s build once test comes back up. Thanks again for all the input and discussion, I really appreciate it.

For AoE I still think fire has ice beat due to fire ball. It’s on a short(ish) cool down and does good damage, where blizzard is on a pretty long cool down, but considering it can scourge is pretty awesome. Fire may also catch up in single target damage if you can achieve insta snipe consistently. Someone has probably crunched the numbers.
-
My main was a fire/dark on live. Though very good solo, did not have enough -regen to solo an AV. I got a little tired of tar patch + rain of fire + fire ball repeat. To OPs original question, i wasn’t a huge fan of radiation blast on live, but that was a long time ago. The AE was kinda meh, the big damage single target attack, though it offered nice soft CC with the stun, the range was so short. Because I found the blast set so underwhelming, I would probs all suggest rolling it as a defender for the bigger debuffs and heal (I personally don’t like defenders, but I just prefer scourge). If you aren’t set on rad as your blast choice, maybe consider a different pairing? I hear water is a lot of fun. I am loving the ice/cold I have been leveling and ice would also go nicely with /rad. Sonic/rad is also good, but again probably better on a defender given the -regen from sonic.

Any thoughts on what's not worth taking from /Psionic Assault?
Griffin replied to JnEricsonx's topic in Dominator
I haven’t looked into martial at all, but I just recreated my old plant/psi Dom from live. Haven’t started leveling yet but saves the name and have him sitting. Psi used to be a great attack secondary, but due to the high resistance at the end game that everyone has been talking about, I am starting to wonder if I would be better off going something else. Decisions, decision! -

Can’t you get perma fast snipe with domination? Does that make the snipe worth taking? -
I am traveling so can’t plug this into mids at the moment, but you really don’t need to build for recovery with cold due to heatloss. Hearloss will solve all of your endurance issues and will basically be used off cool down. You can get your recharge high enough to make it perma, or nearly perma, depending on what you prioritize. I would also highly recommend building to some sort of defensive soft cap, or as close as you can get, probably ranged or s/l. There are a lot of people more knowledgeable than me on these boards, but I would prioritize defense, recharge, whatever else you want in your build.
-
Oh man, I can’t wait to look at this one too. I always liked /dark for thematic reasons and I love soul drain, but didn’t think I could get to the defense soft cap without scorpion shield. I also just realized I had sleet slotted for damage, which I never do while leveling, but was after the recharge bonus. I can probably reallocate those slots somewhere else. Thanks for posting!

Can you boost IOs in sets that do not cap at 50 up to 50? Or if a set that caps at lvl 49 can go to 40+5 or something?
-
I knew someone would finally take pity. I switched from agility because I was able to get to the soft cap for s/l without it, and hasten was within a second of perma, and heatloss was perma (I I remember correctly, don’t have it in front of me). Constantine, I can’t wait to take a look at the build you posted in Pines. I am out of town until Sunday but I am very much looking forward to crunching the numbers. I am not sure how the procs work in rain powers either. I feel like I read they are different than normal powers due the the pseudo pet dealing the damage. Is accuracy not needed in infridge at all, or do you feel it will just not be used often enough to warrant it? That’s the only question I can really come up with looking at the forum post, but I’m sure I’ll have more once I get it in pines. Sorry for any typos, on my phone! Thanks again for the feedback.
-
Thanks for all the responses. What is meant by this? If you are 50, is there reason to use normal, not attuned IOS as opposed to attuned? The way I was understanding it, attuned was the way to go always.
-
I understand it makes them keep their enhancement value regardless off level, but my question is around the level they start as. For example, if I have an IO that can range from level 35-50 and I have a level 30 and gives a, let’s say 34% enhancement to damage. The same IO at level 50 gives a 35% enhancement. If I attune the level 30 IO, what % enhancement does it give? Thanks!
-
Updated the original post to show my latest build, so disregard the one above this. I figure if I just keep posting in this thread someone people will eventually jump on board and start responding, right?
-
Thanks for the input, Hjarki. That said, is s/l still a good way to go for corruptors? this was the standard once upon a time, but a lot has changed and new IO sets have been introduced. I understand positional defenses leave fewer holes in your defense, but I haven’t been able to rebuild for positional defense without sacrificing a lot of global recharge.
-
The build I am toying with this idea I already have 190% global recharge, so hasten is perma. I also just switched some slotting and hit the soft cap after making this post haha.
-
I am wondering what the general consensus is around prioritizing hitting the soft cap for defense or extra damage when making incarnate picks? If you are nearly at the soft cap, let’s say 40-43%, should you go agility or musculature for the extra damage?
-
Thanks for the clarification and details,Obitus. I didn’t know fire blast was different from Blaster to corruptor. I feel I did know it was better on dominator, for some reason. That seems to stand out from lost knowledge back in the day. Did you pull the corruptor vs blaster animation numbers from in game? I got all my info directly out of pines, so it may not have the right cast times in for each AT. I also appreciate the insight on ice bolt be ice blast. I’m pretty sure my build (just posted an updated build on these forums - all, please critique!) has enough recharge to warrant swapping bolt for blast. I have both for leveling but will only have one in my final build.
-
I made some updates. I was told to go Masculature Boost instead of Agility in my Alpha slot, but this means I am not hitting the soft cap. What is more important? The extra damage or hitting the soft cap for s/l? I was also told to try to build to the soft cap for positional defense, but I couldn't get anywhere near the same numbers doing that, not only defense, but also recharge took a big hit. Anyway, still open to suggestions. Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 2.22 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! here are the numbers for ice bolt vs ice blast. Will include Flares vs. Fire Blast as well. Ice Bolt DPA: 35.11 DPS: 8.04 base damage: 41.71 Cast:1.188 Ice Blast DPA:37.01 DPS: 6.95 base damage: 68.4 Cast: 1.848 The values are super close, most give ice bolt the edge due to the much faster recharge, and the DPS number is actually higher. Flares DPA: 35.46 DPS: 12.51 base damage: 42.12 Cast: 1.188 Fire Blast DPA: 38.9 DPS: 10.31 base damage: 56.48 Cast: 1.452 Pretty similar numbers. I just reealized pines had this power stat window, which is pretty nice. Really lets you compare things more grainularly. Do most go off of DPA or DPS? Alos, is DPA is using the activation time, what is DPS using to calculate the value? Does it somehow factor in recharge timee as well?
-
I would have thought the same, but I have started to question that. Using another comparison, on my ice/cold I have taken both ice bolt and ice blast for leveling. I always figured I would keep ice blast, but after digging a little deeper in pines I’ve noticed the DPA, even though both are very fast animations attacks, the actual cast time is ever so slightly longer for ice blast than ice bolt. This puts their DPA nearly the exact same, but ice bolt recharges significantly faster than blast. I am on my cell phone so do not have Pines in front of me but will post the numbers later if anyone is interested.
-
Yep... Trickshooter nailed it. I didn’t treatise the animation was ever shortened. I need to test it out. I’ve been taking fire blast this whole time. The more ya know,,,
-
Did they change the flares animation? Is it not standing there with both arms up anymore? I want to test this when I get off work, I just remember hating the animation.
-
I honestly can’t see how it would be better than fire blast. Is the longer animation needed for the other powers to recharge in time?
