I’ve noticed a lot of builds with flares as well and don’t know the reasoning. The animation is awful in my opinion. I always go fire blast.

I would go radiation, but I have never played time. The ice animations are awesome! So quick and sweet.

Thanks for the clarification, omega. Hjarki also makes a good point about the slow resists at higher levels. People will just run out of your tarpatch and smack you around. People have also been clamoring lately about all of the psi resistance at high levels. Not all enemies will have psi resistance, but when they do it is pretty high. I have never used /time (it looks super fun) but my favorite secondaries are by far /rad and /cold. Kin is fun too but very busy and I prefer debuffing as opposed to buffing. Play around with some different combos and find one you like. If you roll a /cold just know it is super late blooming.If it is pure damage you want fire and ice are probably your best bets for primaries, but like others have said pretty much everything is viable.

Fire/kin would be the obvious choice with fulcrum shift. Any fire primary with soul drain could also pump out some big numbers. You will probably never be quite where a blaster is, given they have higher damage buff caps, but that’s what I would suggest. Side note, corruptors are not meant to be blasters. I always think of my secondary power set as my primary set because it should be used before you start attacking (I.e. “corrupt” your target with debuffs or buff yourself, then start blasting). If you are looking for pure damage your probably better off just playing a blaster.

Posted this in the broad sword/shield thread the other day but never got a response. Would it be worth slotting 4 procs into parry to boost the damage if it i am snapping it as a filler attack, or is the short cooldown make it not worth it?

I used to run a dark/cold corruptor on live that was pretty mean, but the damage ice does is hard to get away from. Outside of the heal you get from /dark, I like /cold more as a secondary. dark/ has a lot of mitigation built in, and the damage will be even better now if you can get moonbeam (the snipe) to fire instantly. This is just a suggestion. Like others have mentioned ice/dark can do just fine so play hat you enjoy.

Finally sat down and tried to make a build. I really appreciate you guys getting me started. Botzoman, I really liked your build as a starting point, so here is what I came up with. Corruptors, especially /cold, you want to build for +Recharge, followed by defense. I wasn't getting close on my own,partly because I don't remember the sets anymore and how to get what I want quite yet, so just having something I could look to build on was nice. Anyway, let me know what you think. I have no idea what incarnate powers to get - I stopped playing on live around the time that came out. Edit: realized I only posted the data link. Trying again. Also, I got rid of some of the procs for -resistance and +chance for hold in favor of more recharge. I also was trying very hard to get AIM 6 slotted with the +chance for build up. I am not sure if I am sacrificing too much and should leave some of the recharge for my Alpha slot. All advice welcome - thanks! I have read that ice is not a good melee set. I personally really like sets that give you something to manage in addition to your powers, so I would say savage even though I have not played it. If you can’t find what you’re looking for on these forums I would check reddit - I usually peruse both to see what I can find.

Would it make sense to slot 4 procs into parry? I am leveling my bs/shield and I’m currently around PvP 35. Thinking of slotting 4 procs into parry but idk if it will fire enoigh given how low the recharge is. Thoughts?

I am using the one linked in Mez's youtube video. It wouldn't open the builds he had linked though, which is weird. I will try one of these and see if it works any better. Just to note, it is opening old builds I had from 2012 no problem haha. I can open things no problem with the import text, but if there is only a download link I get that message.

When I try to download builds from forums or other sources, I get an error saying "Unable to read data - index was outside the bounds of the array." Any idea what this is caused by or how I can fix it?

Been traveling for work but will take a look at this over the weekend - that’s me for posting. A few initial questions: - why not bitter freeze ray? - why no ice storm? City of Jedi, I’m not a fan of frost breath (or fire breath for hat matter) due to the long animation. It is ok AOE for early stages, though. You don’t get your storms until much later so leveling can be a little rough at times. I have been thinking of skipping the shields all together tbh. I feel like at 50+ everyone is apexes our and they don’t do that much anyway. Just maximize your own damage and defenses/resistance.

I’m just getting back into the game. It seems there is a decent-ish pvp population on a few servers. I like playing corruptors, but last time i played my build was useless due to all the different rule changes. What is it like now? Does flares still hit harder than most of the other fire attacks due to the long animation? Is ice viable? I am wanting to recreate my old ice/cold corruptor but I don’t know if it is worth it. For reference, the last time I played pvp had weird movement, where your movement was basically stopped as soon as you started attacking. Attacks had their damage scaled based on animation length, so a powerful attack in PvE was useless in PvP and vice versa (the flares comment earlier). Anyway, I am just looking for a little guidance on what is viable and what the “rule” set is in PvP these days.
