Way, Waaaaaaay more "currencies" than we had In The Beginning. Back then it was Inf, and then Prestige. Then came salvage, recipes, and just.....all the merits. It's arguably worse now with threads, aether, etcetera etcetera etcetera.

Yoooo, can we get those electric (and other) teleport options added to the long range teleport power?
-
In one of the sections, it's listed as:
New Powerset: Pyrotechnic Control
New armor set for Controllers and Dominators
Not sure it should be listed as "armor."

I dont think this works as a power pool, but the idea of a super car (or other vehicle, nemesis horse, etc) sliding up to take you somewhere via the long range/team teleport powers (especially the ones that cross zones) is something i could get down on.

As someone who put the Celerity + Stealth in Swift on live on my Scrapper, i can say it did in fact make hostage missions very very difficult. But, could Hurdle perhaps be allowed to take Leaping (but not Leaping & Sprints) sets and Swift take Running (but not Running & Sprints) sets to avoid the Stealth enhancement in Unbounded Leap and Celerity? Might split the difference this way, given there's separate invention set categories for these things now.

Not sure if already asked, but is there any way we can extend the character name limit to more than 20? Maybe to 25ish? Or would that fracture reality as we know it?

I think the new rocket boots option is awesome. Took me a minute to find it, it's under Path Auras, and it gives the option for rocket boot fx coming out of your feet for Fly or Jump.
My only nits to pick with this are: it's a bit tricky to set the color of the jet fx in the tailor/costume creator. I had to select my color, then go up to back details and pick some wings to put me in flight mode to see them to confirm if the color is good. Also, obligatory "Can we get an option that includes BOTH fly and jump like exists with the current rocket boot fx options?"
Outside that, awesome awesome idea. I really like it a lot.

Then you are choosing to find a reason to be offended. Because whether a change is called an adjustment or a correction, the result is always the same, the idea (or other relevant thing being dealt with) was corrected. If a correction wasn't necessary, then the change wasn't either. That correction is not a dig on the idea itself. Neither is that correction a dig on the person that originated the idea. The correction is a change to the idea for whatever reason those seeking that correction have for desiring (or even needing) the change.
No, I believe that I gave a reason why I feel a certain way. And now I'm being told that the way I feel is my own fault, due to a choice I've made?
I think we aren't using the word wrong in the same context. I think you are using the "2 + 2 = 5 is wrong" context, whereas the context I was using was the "Eating babies is wrong wtf is wrong with you" version. I suspect you believe you are educating me and others in a helpful way, but please accept that very, very often the perception is quite the opposite.

You said if someone disagreed with a suggestion, they should be banned for a while. Guess what corrections to an idea are typically taken as. Even when posters say "I like your idea, but this part should be tweaked in this manner", the response from others has too often been that the person saying they like the idea but think it should be changed or improved is just disagreeing.
You also said there are a players that tend to be negative to suggestions, and you have the perception that they are being malicious in intent. So how does that translate or differ?
People have different views on things. And everyone is as entitled to their opinions and the opportunity to express those opinions as anyone else. Not just for the sake of agreeing with someone else, but to disagree or even say "I don't like it". Even if people say "I don't like it" to absolutely everything that could ever be presented, they still have the right to do so just as much as anyone else saying "I like it". And if you don't want to deal with that person any more? Ignore is always an option.
Corrections to an idea.
You know, I can accept "i don't like your idea" and "i dont think your idea will work" and even "have you looked at it thru this lens" but the phrase "correcting an idea" steps right on my goddamn nerves and puts the finger right on the pulse of the experiences some people have on this particular subforum. This statement, to me, implies not that someone thinks an idea is bad, but rather compels me to believe that one thinks that the idea is wrong and both it, and the person who had the idea, require correction.
This is why people might take "corrections to an idea" negatively. I like the idea? Fine. I don't like the idea? Fine. Your idea is good? Fine. Your idea is bad? Ouch, but fine. Your idea needs work? Fine.
But your idea is Wrong? Fuck that.

From a roleplay perspective, I like this idea. One could get a notice or a summons from a mender that something specific (a random story arc) has gone wrong that used to be right, and its up to you to set things back in order. It's a little more urgency than just passively clicking the crystal and trying to figure out what you're gonna do today.
Sort of an Oro based version of a newspaper or radio mission.
Obviously we wouldn't take away any existing mechanisms for Oro missions, just adding an option for some immersion or direction for those into it.

I would definitely like more shoulder pets. A shrunk down Rikti monkey would be appropriate, as would the buff pet fairies. Also, the shoulder pet I've wanted for a long time? The Predator's shoulder cannon 🙂

I would make the following, unaltered, seen in the game when levelling up at level 4 popup true:
Specifically, the "At level 4, you may choose one of the first three powers in any Power Pool set" part. And I don't mean I would edit it to reflect the "Well, we really only mean travel pools" reality. I would make it so the first three powers in any power pool set could be chosen without prerequisites.

I experience toxic positivity at work, hence my slogan above.
The definition I generally adhere to is:
While the first part is arguable both in intent and in observation, I can absolutely vouch for the effects of the second part. Not necessarily in CoH per se, but generally.

Oh, that's certainly part of it, also, but I don't mind that part because those builds were always theoretically possible. You just had to be really rich.
The power restriction changes, though, have made builds that were not possible on Live possible on Homecoming.
As one example, you can make a character on HC without taking your Secondary T1. It wasn't always that way. That opens up a power slot, potentially. Little things like that add up to make it possible to make builds that were once impossible. And that's what I'm talking about when I talk about power creep.
A little bit of it was fine. Fun, even. But too much of a good thing stops being good.
I guess I'm looking at it through the view of the lens that asks "Would it make it more fun" combined with "We survived getting 3-4 Powers back when they made Fitness inherent, so what's the big deal?"
I see and respect your point though, and thanks for giving specific examples.

If a single relaxation of power restrictions happens in a vacuum, it doesn't seem like much.
The thing is, there have already been many relaxations of power restrictions. And they add up. This is why characters on Homecoming are on the whole quite a lot stronger than they ever were on Live.
Up to a certain point, that's OK. I personally felt like the restrictions were a little too tight on live, and I've enjoyed having them relaxed somewhat.
The problem is, we're past that point already, in my opinion. Which means each additional relaxation of the restrictions is another step too far. And it really isn't needed, given how very much easier it is to put together any sort of build you might want compared to what it was like on Live.
I personally felt like the (far easier to get on HC) Incarnate system, combined with the (far easier to get on HC) fully "purpled out" builds are what tipped the scale more than the power relaxations. I remember having to farm council missions on +4x8 to save up >2 billion inf for an enhancement I had to buy from a player, not on the market, that I can now get for 10-20 million or a hundred merits (also easier to get o HC) today. I'm pretty sure it was a Gladiator's Armor Teleportation/Def PVP IO back when you could only get those in PVP zones. Blah blah blah, get off my lawn, etc, I know. But anyway, that's how I feel, anecdotally, about what let the horses out of the barn balance wise.
Edit: which means I basically agree with your last point about the ease of making a build I guess.

I kinda sorta incredibly like the idea of the first three powers in any pools (Power, Travel, Epic, Ancillary, Patron whatever) being available at T-1. Hell, extend it to Primary and Secondary, since we already got a choice to take either t-1 or t2 in the secondary recently (Being forced to take Thunder Kick on my Tanker annoyed me greatly, so thanks to whoever fixed that). First because I like the idea, second because I hate taking powers that don't even make it into my toolbar (Looking at you, Boxing), and third because think of all the people who'd shut the fuck up about it if we got it. We could end the war and save thousands of lives lol.
I get the balance concern. I get the power creep concern. I get both these things as a general conceptual idea, however, in my specific application, not having to take a power, that I will never use, that i will not be getting a slot back for, to take another one-slot wonder like Fly or Warrior's Challenge doesn't seem to tip the scales, balance wise. All it would mean is that I could fly without spending inf on a jetpack (maybe, I'd have to count my power pools), or taunt a single target running away instead of shooting them in the back with one of my epic/patron powers.
I'm not saying it couldn't be unbalanced by people more clever than I, I'm just not seeing it in my specific application, which is probably why I am so much in favor of it. YMMV.

All's forgiven. Thank you.
Sorry for the intensity of the response. That's a bit of a raw nerve for me based on past experience, so I tend to overreact to it.
We all have bad days. We all have strong beliefs, and we all want what's best for the game. Thank you for your grace. See you around the city.

Homogenation - Should all powersets be the same numbers wise?
in General Discussion
Posted
Honestly, I'd prefer it if they performed all the same. With melee, Same number of st vs cone vs aoe. T1, T2, etc damage is the same across all sets, with the differences being damage type and additional effect. (Martial arts does smashing and stun, ice does cold and slow, fire does fire and fire dot, etc). Then you could tune the differences between archetypes with the non damaging powers. Example, stalkers get placate, scrappers get confront, tanks get taunt, and brutes get ...nerfed probably. Kidding! But maybe Brutes could get something different that suits them better. Same with build up. It could do to hit plus damage/fear mag and duration on stalker, to hit plus damage/whatever on scrapper, to hit plus damage/ mez duration/magnitude on tanks, hell why not give rage to all brute sets to make the at different in that way instead of confining it to super strength alone.
But I'm a numbery spreadsheet-fu kind of guy at heart. Your mileage and preference may vary.
