But what are you actually looking for?

That's part of my problem. I don't entirely  know. Doctored Wounds was my first pick because I was just kind of frankenslotting, getting the best enhancement bonuses for the lowest investment of slots, because, while I knew I didn't entirely have enough slots to go around at lower levels, I didn't know which powers I'd need. It's my first time playing regeneration and fiery melee. But as I've gotten to level 43 now, slots aren't quite the sticking point they once were.

I still haven't figured out an attack chain. By this time on most characters, I kind of have an idea of which attacks I use most often, but with fiery melee it just feels like button mashing.

  2. He solos fine and he's one of the few characters I have that can actually get all of his toggles back up before the untouchable portion of Revive wears off, but I don't really have any particular build goals. He's an meta-concept of "I'm going to fail all the missions I can possibly fail" combined with "Well, if I play a character who just makes really bad decisions all the time, maybe I can stomach doing some of the creepy villain arcs.

  3. Yeah, I'll be able to use Temporal bomb right before or after I use poison trap.

Truth be told, when I say "surprise nightstar" I haven't actually been on a BAF yet, I'm only level 38. I've used Trip Mine a bit while trick or treating, but I never remember to lay trip mines and pull enemies to them when I'm soloing. I did get duray to half health just by sitting at his spawn point and laying trip mines and poison traps until the rest of the team had defeated enough turrets

Maybe it's me, but both Gadgetry and Utility Belt seem like they would be tech origin.  I guess it depends on what's in the utility belt, but I always think Batman with utility belts and his is full of gadgets.

A sword is Tech origin. It is a lever. A gun is science, it uses chemical fuel to propel a projectile.

  5. Well, the presence pool did get a rework too, it's just that provoke was left alone.

At launch, the presence pool only had four powers: Challenge, Provoke, Intimidate, and Invoke Panic. The rework dropped Challenge from the Presence Pool and picked up Pacify and Unrelenting. They just didn't really change any of the existing powers during the rework.

Make it not checking Hit checks, like all Taunt powers in melee powersets, and -RANGE to it. Basically give it the same strength as Tanker or Brute taunt (or maybe a bit weaker in Duration/Recharge values). No need to be afraid that players will drop their powersets actual Taunts in a trade to Provoke, because this will mean their choice would be limited to 3 extra Pool powersets instead of 4 (one would be Presence). So for Tankers/Brutes it would be better to take a taunt in their actual powerset anyway.

I'm not sure that most people end up using all four power pools these days.

But I'll agree that Provoke should get another once-over. When it was set to use and accuracy check to taunt, Tanker's taunt didn't have -range. Also Tanker's taunt was still single target so the Provoke pool was just about mandatory for tanks back then. So it got hit pretty hard. Since then, however, Taunt and Confront have improved.

The to-hit check in PvE seems unnecessary, and the -range would be nice, but could be limited just to the target if they're worried about it.

Jetpack's Turbo Boost became Afterburner in the travel power revamp.

I'm almost certain that Afterburner was on the live servers and both Gadgetry and Utility Belt were still in development afterwards.

I think that Gadgetry and Utility Belt are still in development now. I remember a post about the first page 7 test build where Gadgetry was accidentally available for players to select.

  8. With the change from Time Bomb to Temporal bomb, I need to change my build. The question I'm stuck with is "what do I drop to pick up Temporal bomb"

    My options are:

Tactics: This has five slots slots so I wouldn't have to free up any other slots.

Triage Beacon: Also five slots and I don't think I'd notice it missing for probably 95% of play.

Trip Mine: It's fun, but I've only really used it to surprise Duray and Nightstar.

Summon Disruptor: I'm like, 80% sure it's reporting all of my activities to Arachnos.

  9. Well, the problem with the Brute is that you neglected your secondary.

Your mastermind, I don't play masterminds a lot, but seems like you've neglected most of your summons, and I have played Nature I do feel like you shouldn't need Aid Self or Aid Other.

The arachnos soldier, you didn't neglect your defenses, that's good, but you absolutely should not have six slots in combat training: Defense and you have almost no slots in your attacks.

There are also ways to get knock-back protection. On your current build, it'd be easy to throw a Karma: Knockback protection in Combat Training: Defense and a Steadfast Protection: Knockback Protection in Wolf Spider Armour.

Do you remember the contact? Was it Ambassador Kuhr'Rekt? (And yes, Positron is an AV so he will only downgrade to an EB.)

In his teens it wouldn't have been Kuh'Rekt. I can't think of any mission to get Positron in the teens, even if he shows up in a Mayhem Mission, Steel Canyon is 20-25. There is the Shining Stars arc in the teens and I can see confusing Proton for Positron, but I think those guys downgrade to lieutenants.

The New Praetorians have a bunch of missions against the council, so you'd have hit Maestro, the Nosferatu guy whose name I forget at the moment, the woman at the end of Moonfire.

  11. With the "just about all the story line quests ended with fighting these." and level 40, I'm definitely convinced these are all downgraded AVs. Blueside 35-40 is where you start getting these arc ending archvillains. It's where I had to start putting a team together to finish arcs on my Dominator.

    2) Your difficulty settings are set up so the game sees you as being on a team. (Which can happen if your difficulty is set to x2 or higher).

I'm pretty sure I solo'ed the "Nemesis Invades Atlas Park" mission set for "No Bosses" at x8 and got Fake Nemesis Lieutenents still.

Honestly, with the Brute, I'd say you've slotted your offense too heavily and you should have invested some in defense. Regeneration is kind of thought of as the worst Brute secondary and you can't neglect it like that. If you want to neglect a secondary, I'd recommend Bio Armour or Radiation Armour.
