This build is honestly really solid as a baseline, and I wanted to change some stuff - but keep the bulk of it the same. To explain my alterations:

    • Frostwork is significantly less useful on a Mastermind due to how fragile pets are to begin with. In theory it would help with Assault Bot, but Protector Bots and Battle Drones will still get vaporized by a stiff breeze - I find maintenance drone as an active heal that slowly depletes itself over time more reliable for the given value of mitigation it gives.
    • The Attacks: I personally would value 400% -regen over two proc'd MM attacks. I also feel that the 10% RCH bonuses from Apocalypse and Ragnarok are more impactful because - while most MMs can ignore Recharge, largely - it's actually helpful on Cold.
    • 5 PC prev med in Upgrade Robot: I was blanking on where to put the spare slots. You could probably drop the status/regen unique in the level 6 upgrade to get preventative medicine's six piece RCH bonus.
    • Teleport for Vengeance: LOTG #5 is self-explanatory, Vengeance is also useful in teams.

Edit: Fuck, I didn't notice that you put five LOTGs in already. Build editing without Adderall is pain. Put procs into Protector Bots, maybe. Put explosive strike in there, and the command of the mastermind aura.

Good thoughts.  I hadn't realized Frostwork was changed to not provide absorb, so it's probably good to swap it out.

After ice shields and prot-bot bubbles, pets already are over 45% to melee, ranged, aoe without slotting the Command of Mastermind aura.

I suppose I could add the MM attacks to stack the -regen with Benumb.  Seemed like overkill but who knows.

Having just made a Mercs/FF I'm pretty underwhelmed by Bots.  I thought Bots/Cold would do more damage to Pylons etc.  Maybe Bots are really more AOE-focused.  My Necro/FF also seems stronger.

I havent made a Bots/Cold OP, and Im working atm so I cant give you a solid breakdown of your build and all the bad choices in it, but I looked at this and other than 5 slotting health and 6 slotting stamina (I would not do either of those things, ever, on any toon) this is a build very close to what one I would make would look like and is a solid starting point.

Thanks for feedback. This build  you cited though wasn't mine.

  3. Thanks for the tips!

I think the MM +15% AOE Def IO was left out because (i) it wasn't in the Merc/FF slotting I used for pets, and (ii) I wondered if I could get to >45% Melee / Ranged / AOE def on the pets without it, between Ice Shields, Protector Bot shields, and the 2 x 5% all-defense Pet IOs slotted. I will have to check in-game after building this.

I could pull the Gaussians out of tactics and slot it as Miracle into Health, as you suggested.  I figured Gaussians wouldn't help much and kind of just parked the slot there for now.

On Static Discharge, good point and I can give up the slow-resist set bonus from Superior Frozen Blast and slot instead a +3 Acc/Dmg Nucleous and a +3 Dam/Range D-Sync.  I'll move the slow-resist into SS and the stealth into a sprint.

I didn't take incarnates on this build because IMHO my MMs generally all take the same for Alpha (Musc) and either Degen or Reactive for Interface.  Is there an alpha you think is particularly more effective for Bots/Cold?

  4. Thanks for feedback.  MIDS build-export seems bugged or I'd export it in text.

With Heatloss up most of the time, I don't expect Endurance to be an issue post level 30. I'll carry blues and purples for exemp'd TFs etc.

I think I need one extra PPP power after charged armor to get electrifying fences, so that's why I went with Static Discharge vs. using an MM attack.  I think cold has so much -Regen already in Benumb I didn't think the MM attacks would make much of a difference?

I always found Snow Storm too slow to activate and burdensome to use - never took it on any of my /Cold corrs or Defenders. YMMV.

  5. Thanks, I will try to test next couple of days, work/life permitting. Will report back. Running Assault is likely part of it.

No time to respec yet so here are tests w/o Leadership pool buffs.

    Degen Radial Core
    Support Core slotted not used
    all dmg proc

    --with Serum
    1:32
    1:30

    --without Serum
1:47 - running out of end
    1:48

with Serum and Support Core active and MM attacks/2ndary (FF)
    no Pyronic
    0:53
    0:53

With Support Core no Serum or MM attacks/Secondary
    (+12% dmg to approx. assault)
    1:39
    1:54
    1:39

If you believe support core is a proxy for Assault, the times line up with yours.  I'll try to test leadership next day or two after respec, and i'll try to see what impact puttting the pet uniques for res back in have  (fewer dmg procs).

  6. Thanks @StrikerFox. Yes I followed your slotting above for Soldiers (with the Soulbound BU) and other procs; the Soulbound in Comando is a +5'd Soulbound DAMAGE IO which I think is even higher than the standard IO +5'd.

I actually replicated your slotting above for testing (all the damage procs) and still couldn't really break <2mins (though I only tested a few times).  So 2:07 with the 2 def IOs seemed a good trade-off vs. 2mins all procs.  Maybe you can test again on the test pylons if you get a chance.  I got better results with Degen than Reactive.

I'll try Lady Gray in the commando for now.

Does using Power Boost do anything for Serum?

(Spamming my MM attacks and FF buffs/debuffs, could get the Pylon down in 57 seconds, I guess that's pretty good)

  7. Hm, tested with all the damage procs in as well as switching from Degen Radial to Reactive Radial, and doesn't seem to make much of a difference on kill time. Degen seems 10+ secs better than Reactive.

Snugging up the Mercs right next to the pylon so the melee it between ranged attacks doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Shrug.   Still like 2:08ish, maybe 2:01 if lucky, even with all the damage procs in place of the res/def procs.

I even tried PowerBoosting Serum which doesn't seem to do much/anything. (Maybe someone knows if PowerBoost affects Serum?)

@StrikerFox any thoughts?  you were getting like 106 secs just with Mercs proc'd out weren't you? Apparently w/o Serum *boggle*. Were you running Assault or something as well?

    image.thumb.png.ef21c98eb41306f0adeaa30caa82d871.png

If I only keep 1 damage proc in Commando, should it make a difference if it's the Lady Gray Negative Dmg or Smashing or Lethal damage, in terms of what attacks he uses that could trigger the proc?  That is, does he use one attack type more than another that has a better chance of triggering the damage proc if it's negative vs. smashing vs. lethal procs?

  8. Pets summoned w/o any FF buffs:

    image.thumb.png.13ae0b6b4580c3600b66837f2abbc7c6.pngimage.thumb.png.31c550648093f60a517d8d1732ca8eab.png

Pets with boosted (PowerBoost) FF bubbles and Disp Bubble active (post fall-off of PB):

    image.thumb.png.5b7bb50a5ca520f3e86e16106f9b5596.pngimage.thumb.png.7d62783a070d304384c59292bd54e58d.png

With PB & Clarion inside Disp. Bubble:

    image.thumb.png.3552252cb75773c4b2dd96a57bbe80ad.pngimage.thumb.png.475451dc27ea4d4dca34ccd38ba4f475.png

Toxic & Psionic def are only 22% though and that includes 10% from the 2 def unique pet IOs.

So the question is, remove the Edict of the Master Pet IO (Def bonus 5%) from Spec Ops for another proc (Shield Breaker Lethal)?

    image.png.5ff83bd8f8e9e7d3644356f6a710049f.png

And/or remove the Call to Arms def proc (5%) from commando, or remove one or both of the Res procs in Commando?  Putting in the explosive strike / shield breaker / lady gray damage procs?

    image.png.13190ef0d8943bd2ca91c56fcd28eaa3.png

With current slotting, only using Pets (no MM powers), it's taking around  2:07 to defeat a Pylon (using Serum as up).  That's a lot longer than @StrikerFox got.  I think he used all procs.

    Thoughts?

The res buff IOs are 10% each so i'd likely take out the def buff IOs and try to get by with 10% lower def on the pets, which should still have them just above the softcap (when standing in Disp Bubble) for M/R/A though I imagine they have poor DDR.

  9. FWIW i ended up going Mercs/FF as I've never played /Pain and I couldn't convince myself it would be better than stacking PB'd/Clarioned FF shields on top of Mercs.  I also am not sure if PB affects Serum.  Here's the build.  I did some pylon tests w/o using MM attacks or anything besides the Pets and I'm coming in several seconds longer than @StrikerFox tests. so maybe the pets aren't slotted in the optimal way.mercs-ff.mbd

(I also don't love web envelope, i was just chasing +rchrg from the purple sets but I could give it up. I non-proc'd M30 Grenade for a purple set for the same reason (the procs are in Force Bomb which seems to have a higher proc chance)

Definitely; and that's why I had that "other than specific boss fights" caveat in the parent post.
An /Elec MM that is constantly on the move also at least still has healing and other buffs such as Empowering Circuit to fall back on.
However it doesn't change the fact that /Elec's performance still suffers a lot whenever a team is highly mobile; which is (for better or worse) the current meta.
And as I mentioned in an earlier post, other powersets like /Thermal can provide a very similar benefit to /Elec regardless of how quickly the team is moving.

It's a rather powerful powerset; but it unfortunately comes with some annoying limitiations - reduced mobility on teams; and an inability to leverage its capstone (Amp Up) when solo. Still perfectly playable though even if it's not exactly mechanically optimal + a small price to pay if you're in love with the theme/flavour!

    @Maelwys Do you happen to have a up-to-date Mercs/Thermal or /Thermal build?

  11. Thanks for the feedback. I could try /elec but I've always been put off by it not having a -res power (I think)?  Is thermal good still?  Felt old school.  Thanks again for tips.  Would welcome any build examples (will go search).

  12. Toying with a Mercs/Pain build, never played either.  Have Necro/FF, Demons/Dark, Beast/Kin, Thugs/Time.

Using I think @StrikerFox Mercs shell but don't really know how to slot /Pain (except to go for a lot of recharge to keep WoP perma etc) and what else to take, esp. post Epic-pool changes.  Anyone got advice?  Not a ton of /Pain builds recently on here nor pairings that looked meta with Mercs.

  13. So over the past weekend, for whatever reason, the person(s) maintaining the bid floors on yellows apparently went on vacation or ran out of bids, and yellow prices dropped down to 5K or lower at points. Now the bids are back setting a floor at 10,005.  I applaud the dedication and effort.

Im seeing rare salvage down from 500k to 225kish

There better be outrage because if something going for 1k to 15k is bad, something going from 500k to 225k means something bigger is happening

I think this is a holiday dip that affected demand more than supply, would be my guess.  Has been going on around Xmas/NY.  Let's see if it sticks.

  15. This person / persons have steadily upped their standing bids over the last couple of months -- it was at like 12,002 for a while and then 15,002 etc. and lately up to 20,002.  I really don't know why they're doing it, but they are steadily driving the market higher.  It does just irk me that yellows used to go for 1000-2000 and now I pay 20,500 each - sure on an enhance I sell for 7MM it doesn't make that much of a difference, but it is irksome.

Instead of thinking of a single expense increasing 10x, think of actual margins decreasing less than 1% (assuming a prior profit of 1.3M* would now be 1.29M).

*I made up 1.3M as some sort net profit after crafting and AH fees, if someone wants to tell me they get more per sale, I don't care.  If they want to tell me they get less, I don't care, it's just for an example.

True. At 10k-11k per yellow it's less about the absolute margin impact and more about the principle of the thing.  At 40k-50k it still doesn't really hurt that much, just stings from an annoyance perspective.  I guess props to whomever's behind this tho, they must be raking it in.

  17. Someone definitely has been trying to keep a price floor, bidding stacks of yellows at 10,666 or thereabouts.  This week, they've gone up to 11,666.  Just stacks being filled at that price.  I'm surprised the market is bearing it, who knows.  Unless something has really happened to slow the supply of yellows to the market, or to massively increase their demand (ToT?), kinda feels like manip but who knows?  Hurts my margins a bit for crafting when yellows are 5x+ more expensive than they were (or 10x).  But not the end of the world, just annoying.

Same! I’m gonna try to use RoF in other sets now because I like having one chain rather than the alternating you do with most snipe chains.

I think this is also more fun than the “god chain”. Pushing 1>2>3>2>1 was so boring IMO. It’s nice to have a ranged attack to use against runners. And this one doesn’t require ridiculous recharge.

If you get bored can you try the same chain on a DB/Stone/Blaze scrapper?

I have a DB/Stone/Mu and I run BF-AS-SS-AS with the proc'd out snipe subbed in after BF when it's up (BF has the crit-strikes proc).  I wasn't getting 49 second times.  So I'm wondering how much of that is really Bio on top of the DB chain.
