  1. So Burn mostly sucks on Scrappers.  I've tried it, and although it does boost my survival a bit (since enemies just run when I use it), the damage it ends up doing is minimal.

     

    Is Fiery Aura no good on Scrappers?  Or is it viable, or even actually good, regardless of how bad Burn works?  Would skipping Burn be a good idea, or is /FA w/o Burn just a bad idea?

I'm still relatively new to end-game build making (or build making in general, to be honest), and completely new to both War Mace and Regen, but thought I'd give it a try.  Any help is welcome, all comments, suggestions, and advice will be considered.  About the only thing I'm even close to "married" to is Super Jump as a travel power, but I wouldn't mind changing it for anything else if it helps, at all.

    I considered this, decided to test it out, and no, you don't need to hit anything to get the full benefit.  In fact, even while Afterburner is on, I can use FoT and get the +rec benefit in full.

     

    Nonetheless, certainly your build looks much tankier, although with lower recovery (probably offset by Power Sink, which I didn't take).

     

    I'm not 100% happy with my build (which I've tweaked a bit from what I posted above), it's still a bit of an END hog, and not nearly as survivable as I'd like.  I'll see what I can switch up based on both builds posted here.  Thanks!

  4. Still mostly new to making builds, so I'm sure there are some glaring mistakes here, so I'll appreciate any and all comments.

    I was going for survival (def/res), mixed offense (st ranged, aoe, and blapping; not sure whether that's a good idea, though).  If at all possible, try to keep Hover/Fly/Afterburner in any suggestions. 😃

  5. I'm still working on my build-making skills, and would love some feedback.

     

    I'm trying to go for decent survival (would love softcapped defenses, but not sure whether that's viable) and high recharge, going for a mix of melee/pbaoe and ranged.  Not worrying too much about what the final build will cost, so any suggestions that involve using more expensive enhancements are more than welcome.

  7. I'm very inexperienced making builds, trying to get better.  This is my attempt at a BS/FA Scrapper.  Any and all critiques are welcome.  I'm trying to go for survival w/o sacrificing damage.  Would love softcapped defenses, but this is as good as I managed.  Would like to avoid Hasten if possible (I don't mind a longer attack chain), but if the difference will be huge, I wouldn't mind taking it.

    I also noticed this.  Fooled around with "/settitle" and found that the command won't update the badge immediately, sometimes. So it's not a limitation of, or error in, the BadgeList menu, but rather a limitation of, or error in, the in-game command.  Not sure whether clicking the badge in the built-in Badge menu triggers something else that makes the change occur immediately.

Just came across this (working on my first PB, and was searching regarding Incarnates), and noticed you mention you farm with your PB, due to capped resists.  Opening your build, though, I notice no DEF (but with resists capped with Light Form).  Are you managing to farm on +4/x8 with no DEF and 85% resists?  I usually farm on a 45% def 90% resist brute, so you should be taking 15 times as much damage, by my calculations (5% chance to be hit for 10% chance of the damage, for the Brute, vs 50% chance to be hit for 15% of the damage, for the PB).  I'm not trying to imply you're being anything less than truthful, just wondering whether I'm missing something!  Are you chomping on purple insps to keep DEF up?  Are your healing through the extra damage?

  11. Anybody have, or can come up with, a softcapped build for Sonic/MM?  Would like to try Blapping, if that works with Sonic/MM, but am fine doing standard ranged Blasting if not.  Inf is not an issue.  I could try to work on a build myself, but I have no clue which powers in either set are good and which are skippable, so any info regarding that would work, too!

    Thing is... i don't think we have yet a 32-bit build containing the updates (db + binaries)... It will run fine - at first glance at least - but it won't tell you the architecture don't match, even under Windows.
    However you will notice shenanigans when you try to open a build, super weird errors will appear in this case.
    As Feles said above, your best bet for now is to only update its data.

     

    For checking OS/program architecture:

    - Windows arch: Control Panel/System (keyboard shortcut: WinKey+Pause, since the "old" control panel in Win10 is kinda hidden... sadly)
    - Mids' arch (Windows, when Mids' is running): Open the Task Manager, go to Details tab. Right click one any of the column header, choose "Select columns". Scroll down, almost to the bottom and check "Platform".

     

    - Linux arch: in a terminal, enter uname -a, 64-bit OSes ID string contains "x86_64". Nerds may want to use nerdy stuff like uname -a | grep "x86_64" --color=always 🤪 (i hope memory serves... it's been a while)

    - Mids' arch (Linux): ??? (unknown)

    I'm not sure whether I'm doing something wrong... but I tried that download link, and get "Unable to read data - Bad Format" when trying to open files created by the version I was running (same version number, 2.6.0.7.  I tried with a fresh install, and with an updated DB from bleeding edge (version 20.2605), and got the error both times.

     

    Running in Linux, with wine, if it makes a difference.  (Bear in mind, I can run MIDS fine, it's just the "bleeding edge update! (2020-03-25)" version I have trouble with.

    Regarding the four points you mentioned for making my own build, I was aware of the first three, but didn't know about Moonbean/Zapp.  Frankly, the biggest problem I have when trying to make my own builds is not knowing which powers "work" and which "not so much".  For example, I notice you picked Mental Strike rather than Psi Blade.  I've usually seen the harder-hitting attack picked over the fast-but-weak one (barring special mechanics, like Sentinel Opportunity), I'm guessing because eventually you get enough +recharge to make the hard-hitter fast enough not to matter.  Was that more of a personal choice, a random pick (as in "either would've worked, just picked whichever"), or is there a mechanical reason for the choice?

    There is no reason you couldn't run something else in sprint and move that open slot elsewhere.  

    That build was also posted months ago, and if I were to do it over again I would likely change some things.  So if there are IO placements that don't work for your style, by all means shuffle things around until it works for you.  

    Oh, I didn't mean to criticize your build, was asking out of curiosity; trying to learn the ins and outs of making builds, so I can stop pestering other people for them! ;D

    Ok, checking this out... I see empty slots in Thorny Darts, Flashfire, Kick, Combat Jumping, Health, and Stamina.

     

    I'm assuming you don't use Thorny Darts at all.  Empty Kick slot is not unexpected, since it's there just to get to Tough/Weave.  Flashfire... you don't use it?  If not, why not skip it?  Combat Jumping, Health, and Stamina, I'm assuming you're leaving the slots empty as a way of saying "your choice"?

     

    If PFF from Mace Mastery there just as a LotG mule, or did you find it useful as a power?  If just a LotG mule, I guess you could switch that LotG to Combat Jumping, and free up a power choice (Assault? Tactics? Acrobatics?).

     

    Please don't take any of that as a complaint, I'm honestly curious as to the reasons behind the decisions. 😃

  21. I guess I'd prefer perma-dom, which I guess isn't attainable w/o Hasten (although if it is, I'd probably prefer that). Softcap def would be the next priority. It would be for general play, not fire farming, so balanced defenses would be best, and not just fire def.

     

    In terms of budget, the sky's the limit ;D

     

    Edit: sorry if I seemed vague.  I really don't know enough about Doms yet to really know what I'd need/want, hehe.  As far as I can tell, perma-dom seems to be a huge boost, although to be honest I don't quite get how/why.  Does domination do anything besides make your mezzes better?
