would. as in, if it was avail.
    ...maybe that'll help?

also, you're missing out, Saint. EnA on Scraps is a great all-rounder set & can be pretty insane with the right build. anything that can softcap or icap on a Scrap with 50%+ DDR is worth playing... but add 40-50% standing Res to SLENFC from sets, loads of +Rech, self +End & End Recov, and a great heal? take another look, man.

  2. not worthless at all. one of the best for durability, esp since it has decent Def Debuff Res and a big Heal with Regen. plus the huge End Reduc, End Recov, +Rech, & Stealth powers add a lot to playability. decent amount of slotting options allow for all the best Uniques w/o need for pools if you don't want extra toggles. only higher DDR and/or positional Def keep it from outclassing everything else.

currently hashing out a Kat/EnA Scrapper to upgrade from my slow Staff/EnA

  3. concern over slotted Acc is def warranted, but (depending on the build) i don't think it's entirely needed. all my ToHit-check type powers seem to be in the upper 90's Acc (at the lowest, some are far higher) just from set bonuses. combined with the usual Kismet + Tactics, they don't miss any more than powers slotted with Acc even if solo against +3/+4. i honestly don't know the exact math, but i do know some of both Acc & ToHit is better than a lot of just one.

  4. long animations.

/Regen is very response-click heavy, so if you're stuck in a long animation & take poorly timed big hits, you can find yourself in a lot of trouble quick, even if cruising along fine till then. not that ya can't be successful still - it's just harder, on a set that is very unforgiving & outclassed by most others to begin with. and that's coming from someone with thousands of hrs on /Regen, with some insanely tough kitchen sink builds.

rolling as a brute helps, just due to the larger HP pool working in favor of regeneration/heals, but the basics remain.

if you still want to roll a scrap, start a build, post it up, & i'll help ya fine tune it. playing an underdog difficult set/pairing has it's rewards.

and of course any squishier is not going to survive at a high saturation point. I have seen a teleporting squishier land on mobs and lock them down then burn them down. Fast. But that is Stalking a group strategy. The endless spawns I am discussing would overwhelm that strategy

eh, there are a decent number of peeps who can/do farm in over-aggro situations just fine on Trollers, Corrs, & Blasters. not as fast or as easy when solo as a spine/fire brute, but successfully.

  6. curious, why "need" SJ if only farming?

bit confused ; Ripper isn't likely to get used much (if at all) in an "epic status" lvl of farming, due to even the lowest amount of +Rech being enough to cycle 4 AoEs + ThrowSpines ...right?  i've only got a sub-$60m build, but beyond higher +Rech for Burn/F.Embrace/B.Up & maybe some modest +Regen/+HP for AFK security, i can't see adding anything worth-while ...esp not another attack (a slow one at that). am i missing somethin? maybe Ripper in-place-of T.Spines due to set bonuses?

T3 Ageless with Consume for the gap was enough, & T4 solved my End issues entirely. you have Def concerns, as-in, you're not softcapped on the $250m build you found?  😮

I do not think this is true. The following linked guide gives a good outline and matches my experience.

hmm... seems like good testing-based info, thx for the correction.

I'm not looking for the perfect build. I just want what will work for me. Just need some suggestions on how to work with what I have.

sounds like you're on a very tight budget? is this for farming? need to know exactly what you're after, but i'm sure we can help. it's gonna take you some time & effort to learn how IOs & the game mechanics can compliment each-other, but i'm down to show ya if you really want to know. if you're not into it & just want a build, that's cool - there are plenty posted here you can follow to the letter & do just fine with.

  9. you get more End from a single L50 enh in Stamina tho. they are the scoops, while the procs are cherries to get around ED.

Never plan to leave 50 now that I have arrived...Clarion is SOOOOO close.....SOOOOO glad.  (Do I need that Aegis in Tough with Clarion?)  As such anything that is not a Purple, a Proc or an ATO will get Boosted to +5.  Which I am sure will lead to some overkill as far as ED is concerned so let me know if there are certain areas I don't need to do that.  (How do I Boost IOs in Mids?  Seem to have forgotten.)

if you slot the ATO Status Proc into a T1 or T2 power, you can fire it while mezzed & pull yourself out most of the time. no need for the Aegis or Clarion.

you can boost Purples, tho i only bother with the End one if my ratio is too tight. right-click the Enh, hover over it in the selection box, tap "+" or "-" on your KB.

Eh, I see that. I just share the whole builds. Someone else might have a better perspective. And if they take my build and fail with it, when I've succeeded, that's player skill. If they eclipse my performance, either in build or gameplay, I'll ask to learn.

There's little to nothing gained by obfuscating information, but you do you.

of course it's possible that someone can help me improve my posted builds with their feedback, and it's def happened in the past. i appreciated it very much, & said so, but i'd personally rather have a better understanding of the game's mechanics from them so i'm less likely to miss somethin on my next build. w/o all that collective knowledge to pull from & add to, i think people are less likely to stick around... nearly-free L50's with pre-planned builds... all that's left are Enh costs. and what type of teammate do we prefer while they are here... one who understands the mechanics, or a flying Emp/NRG tossin mobs away from your melee Kin, for example? other reasons too (mentioned in other thread), but...eh...

i'm not knockin anyone for posting builds... you're all free to help peeps in the way you feel is best.

    honestly pretty good start there.

i think you can free-up some slots in Stamina (Energize is more than enough with default slot Stamina), & Hasten (never more than 2 Rech), Energize, & even P.Boost... then move the Stealth Proc to Sprint for another free slot... which can all be used towards the small S/L Def gap. that would allow you to go Spiritual (Radial for the synergy with 2ndary effects), add +Rech from another set bonus or two, & break even on Rech to the powers you've Bogarted from.

maybe use a slot for Kismet+ towards fast-snipe? also consider the T1/T2 "break free" effect from ATOs (swap Blaze/Blast slotting, WO set in Blaze, ATO in Blast). just be sure to set Energize to auto or have it bound to your target-next key. might be some other small things, but those are the easy win/win's i saw.

  13. if you're adventurous, you can take /SR all the way up to icap Def levels on all 3 positions (59%+) w/o Agility, & still have great +Rech along with decent +Res & well over 3/1 End Ratio. because mine is Spine/SR, i did take Conserve + Body Mastery to cover the Quills/Tough/Weave toggles, but i didn't add slots & honestly never need Conserve. i added Rune & took Rebirth for the nastiest Incarnate & late-game stuff. everything else in the game is a cakewalk at that point, so you can go Musculature/Spiritual & Assault easily.

    Why hide your enhancements?

from a long history, the short of it is: most peeps don't learn from, nor appreciate, being given a complete build to copy ...horse to water, fishing, & such. posting a ss of my build seems the middle-ground to show i'm being honest (w/o inflating stats via temp clicks / incarn / acco / mob buffs / etc).

  15. i'd say it's fixed for sure on Scraps. /EA can be really tanky if that's what you're after. on mine, i managed over softcap Def to SLENFC, 30-52% Res aside from Psi, and nearly 100% Rech before Hasten ...all w/o any mob buffs or clicks or Incarnates. then it's also got both Meld & Rune as back-up. with 50% -DDR, amazing End management, the heal, & regen... it's sturdy af in nearly any content. my downfall was taking Staff, for theme...

  17. Water/Atom/Mu is the most survivable Blaster i've made. not just the build stats, but also due to the 2ndary effects of both sets. it's fantastic for AoE dmg, but not quite as much as Fire/Fire... and won't keep pace with Fire/EM or Fire/Atom for ST/AV solo'g. it's very toggle-n-go, compared to some of the other durable combos which can be fickle. BetaDecay allows some breathing room to chase other bonuses while still having a ton o +Rech. @Profit has an Arch Blast that has even better durability stats, but i have no idea how it plays in comparison to other combos.

  18. lots of good suggestions here already (+Def > +Res for squshies, BoneSmasher, Blaze, etc), and i only want to emphasize how much one of them can make a difference - PowerBoost.

for a single power that only needs 1 additional slot, it can dramatically boost your Def, Heal, Stuns, ToHit, EndMods and even movement speeds & status protection. with moderate +Rech, it can have almost no downtime. it's the best power in EM, imo. here's an example of how much it effects Def alone (1st pic PB=off, 2nd PB=on ...5% over icap for S/L )

Extra HP does nothing unless you are being 1-3 shot by mobs and have no time to heal or you have so much that you can run a whole map without healing at all, this is different in pvp, but otherwise all that matters is mitigation, so defense, resistance, heals, knockdown/controls/etc. and killing things.

It is impossible for me to know if you are setup in mids correctly to make sure that stealth is only adding in combat defense and not the double out of combat bonus because you have hidden your build and not posted it (odd choice btw considering your post is about trying to get the fastest times and I've openly shared mine, maybe collaboration would make both builds better?). I also can't tell if you are using greater fire sword as a slot mule or in your attack chain, I hope the former as it has terrible dps and dpa. Flares also has more dps than fire blast, but this is not a lot of people's preference, but if we are talking pure min/max dps then flares is better.

My fastest cave time with another brute on comic con cave map is 26:36, please note that this is the one in the hall of fame and it has no EBs.

I would not even try to duo the asteroid map against two brutes, I know they will win. The map is short enough they can just keep popping reds to keep themselves at or near the dmg cap, negating the advantage of having a fire/kin corruptor. They have to load much more though and buy the reds. In the end I am not sure which one is the absolute fastest farming duo. I can confidently say that 3 brutes and 1 corr will easily beat 4 brutes at farming money on exemplared maps, but this is really making sure the corr has the advantage., the more team members there are, the more value the corruptor has. It is only the longer maps and maps with EBs where I can beat a brute duo with another brute.

i look at HP similar to higher Res, as you take hits for a smaller % of your total. it's not much here, esp after adding Acco to both builds, and only noted to show where our builds differ.

GFS & F.Blast are mules. could tell you knew Stealth was providing half standard (or you had adjusted your database) just because you had Agility. 🙂

good points about map type. i forget peeps run so many different ones, which would slant the benefits/drawbacks.

i've decided not to post my builds anymore, & only share em with close friends (whom i know are brilliant & knowledgeable of CoH) to get fresh eyes that'll catch things i may have overlooked. it's not that i don't want to help peeps, or improve. for a long time, i reworked builds... or ported my similar one to their preferred sets/AT... or just posted mine for them to copy entirely... & i saw others do the same to "help" peeps. overwhelmingly, the result has been that peeps didn't learn anything about the game mechanics & build choices, & didn't show any appreciation or give credit to those who "helped" em. they'd post, get builds handed to them, & never reply back to the thread with anything they came-up with or learned, or even say "thanks". i've seen my builds (quite obviously) being passed off as their own to others.
...posting a ss of my build seems the middle-ground to show i'm being honest (w/o inflating stats via temp clicks / incarn / acco / mob buffs / etc), & not claiming wild "capped Res to all!", while failing to mention Rune + Melee Core. lol

  20. great build. the -Res Proc & Repel are nice touches.

i had one for duo like this before Corrs got Fire Shield, but reworked it for the last 17% Res... softcap Def & hardcap Res now. it's down about 25pts Rech from yours, but i'm able to run Musculature or Spiritual instead of Agility with the extra Stealth toggle. ToHit is similar, as is Dmg Proc use. i was able to find about 125HP extra. have you tried Degen as well as Reactive?...i find the -HP helps a lot with the slowest targets (Bosses & EBs), while Minions/LTs melt regardless.

curious if you've timed a few solid runs to avg out some hard figures between Brute+Brute vs Brute+Corr... i have my suspicions after many farms with some of the fastest (timed) guys, & have advocated for the Brute+Corr duo. but it's not somethin these guys i really respect are convinced of, & we have never timed ourselves to prove one way or the other. i'm interested in putting this up for science, kinda akin to Pylon test times. i do however believe a single Brute on the map solo (not PL'g) is the fastest $/min earner, & have doubts adding a Corr is enough to offset the loss of $/kill split between 2 chars.
