I think you have a point there.

Incarnate players are already going to want to play these for the salvage needed for T4.

Since there already an incentive for these, there is no need to bog down the WST with them.

And I assume that is why the double merits are there >> so that you will team with others at lower levels.

The incentive is already built-in for TINPEX or APEMAGE + lower level characters can not play it.

I don't see any reason why these should need to be double-merits.

Players make a good amount of loot for adventuring above level 50. Level 50+ can most probably get merits from buying cards packs with inf from running any door mission (or arc) faster than they can from a task force if they are on a full team.

As stated, the advantage of TINPEX/APEMAGE is the T4 incarnate salvage.

Your observations are quite astute and usually on the mark.

But the problem, I am currently experiencing is the ability to get an 8 person team going, say within 20 minutes of waiting. Maybe its the times, I can play that is the problem, but I have found that usually if I need a TF that for whatever reason is a weekly, I can form a group of 8 faster and have less issues with folks just giving up after a long wait. That is why I seek more across the board week events, to assist team forming for whatever objective you may be pursuing.

A lot of people find raids extremely boring.  Some find Hamidon raids boring, others find mothership raids boring, and yet others find both boring.  Personally, mothership raids are my favorite thing to do in the game, but some friends of mine find them extremely boring.  I myself am in the camp of finding Hamidon raids boring.  Once you've done a Hamidon raid with only five people with no temporary powers... meh.  I couldn't bring myself to do another Hamidon raid for over a year after that.

LOL raids are an awesome source of just about everything but salvage, in fact I used to run Hami raids in Everlasting....

    No reason. Apart from:

    - XP

    - Merits

    - Influence, Salvage, Incarnate components if you're 50, and extra Notices if it's a WST

    - Camaraderie and banter with other players

    - Enjoyment of actually playing the game and doing content

But these are reasons often overlooked by players whose only goal is the constant strive to always be advancing their character to the next step on an arbitrary ladder. Grind for more components. Maximize further progression! Get T4 in every slot! Must maximize numbers. Fun? What does that profit me?

Lets take a look at your statement...

I am already an incarnate, so mmm....

The xp for a Positron, its a joke, the influence is a joke, for they are set to reward you as if you were a level 15, and that is not even chump change to a 50.

Outside of TIN APEX, there are no other TF sources for incarnate mats (there are a few DA missions I believe), but if I am all T4d, what is the point?

Camaraderie, etc you got a point, but frankly I would rather do content and stuff that rewards me for my achievement, that is as a t4d Incarnate, not really excited about having camaraderie in a kinder garden mission. If I worked hard to have a DPS that hits like a howitzer, why would I want to play Positron and have the DPS of a sling shot? and not even have half of the powers I worked so hard to develop and slot?

Your last statement does make sense, I mostly see this for one of my weakness, I am an ALT-O-Holic. Giggles, thus as I progress them, I really enjoy having a weekly to assist me with forming groups to do critical TFs towards an accolade, and then get those T4s.... That said, there is nothing to say, I am not enjoying the content, camaraderie, and what not while I progress. As of lately, forming groups in my time zone and when I can actually play, is getting increasingly difficult.

Are players unable to start TFs or Trials that aren't on the WST?

Any player can in the norm start any TF as long as they qualify (in fact this is not a problem), but that is not the issue I am addressing, the problem is the difficulty to form a group of 8 to do the TF you need for instance to satisfy an accolade.

  5. Hi:

When I look at activities under the LFG, one can easily see 3 major categories Trials, Incarnates Trials, and Task Forces.

Usually weekly activities are either TFs or Trials, and nothing for incarnate level players with the exception of Apex and Tin Mage which are dispensed on the same week.

When I look at players, to include myself, you can break us from low level (we are progressing towards 50) and incarnate players (often progressing towards T4 abilities).

From the lower level side, often there is the pursuit for accolades, mainly Task Force Commander; while the incarnate you see a lot of TINPEX or APEMAGE for the salvage needed for T4s. Thus you see folks with drastically different needs at any given time.

So instead of having a monolithic set of weekly events, make it more diverse or encompassing. For example have on each weekly  a trial, an Incarnate Trial ( the salvage type drop is shifted up by one), and three TFs:  1) Always have a weekly that supports the Taskforce Commander accolade, 2) another to support incarnate level, and 3) lastly one that does the rest for variety.

So instead of having 2 weeklies to choose from, one would have 5 to choose from. Please consider that once I have completed my Taskforce Commander badge, I have no reason to do any of the accolade TFs "especially the super boring ones such as Synapse and Citadel" which the only way I would even consider doing them again to help others is by doubling the merits they award, and frankly Synapse is so boring and long, I don't do it even if doubled. But the consideration if you can make the task force commander TFs appealing to do, those players who needs good strong groups to do these TFs will have a chance of getting a good group with very experienced players in it. The trials, tend to be quick, but they merit award is so little, I just don't bother with them, unless I am after a badge, even when doubled, perhaps the rewards for trials should be raised to make it appealing to veteran players to want to play and help the new players. For those working on their incarnates having both Apex and Tin Mage dispensed as weekly in the same week, is just mean, and those players trying to get to their T4s need those who already got them to be willing to do these TFs to have solid groups.

  6. Sweetie:

I can not trivialize the important of the numbers in game, but there is no need to be extreme at it either. For example, I once had my Storm/Dark Defender that was essentially indestructible, but the penalty for it was that she had laughable DPS even for a Defender. So instead of being in the upper 40s and lower 50s in defense and 50% in defense, I decided to drop my defenses to the be about 37% and the toughness to about 35% as well, switched a bunch of winter sets for purples, and in the process: surprise! My accuracy became awesome, and my DPS after the damage augments from the purples and the Procs is now very respectable.

Sure I am no longer indestructible, but I can tell you my character is a lot more fun now that it has a chance to be defeated and is dealing a lot of accurate damage.

The part of the substitute IO set powers, I have mixed emotions on that. I have experienced when balancing a concept versus performance certain arch types are much more difficult than others, and in those situations being able to switch IO effect would be a positive thought. But there is a problem with that. if you can switch IO set effects, you will destroy the Auction House market, why pay so much for a Luck of the Gambler set, when I can buy any cheap set of IOs and change them to Luck of the Gambler IO set abilities?

  7. I appreciate those who said, better team planning is the key. But I feel you folks did not pay close attention to the scenario I described, which does happen. I described the situation where the controller type DCs and does not return or is forced to leave due to real life matters.

In that case, the premise of better planning, simply does not work. I feel giving all a temporary hold power like Reichman is a good compromise or a fail safe in case of Murphy's law coming into play, and of course, once the Hami portion is completed, the temp power goes away. The temp hold power could be attained when we destroy the beacons holding hami for instance.

I believe this is an easier solution than removing the TF lock on recruiting, were the team could recruit a controller mid campaign if needed.

  8. Was thinking of a new set of inspirations, perhaps you all have ideas of your own...

    1) Range, increase the range of an attack. Even melee attacks can be made ranged. the Small/Med/Large adds 20/40/60 ft to an attack.

    2) Duration, increase the duration of effects. Small/Medium/Large adds 1/2/3 minutes to duration

    3) Recharge Rate, inspiration based haste, Small/Med/Large increases recharge by 10/20/30 percent

    4) Magnitude Increase, inspiration status effect booster, Small/Med/Large adds +1/2/3 to mag potency

    what do you all think

  9. Hi:

Could it be possible for the Pv2 vendor to sell a hold power, either or both permanent or temporary. The reason, I am asking for this, was we were on an LGTF and our controller got disconnected and did not combat back, and the rest of us did not have a single hold among us. Thus it would be great, if we could go to the PV2 Vendor, obviously at Pocket D, since we are in a TF, and purchase the hold in order to be able to complete the LGTF mission.

  10. Hi:

I try to play the different power sets, just to experience what makes them unique and fun to play. So I built an alt with Kinetic as a form of attack. At first, I thought the long animations, the winding , was cute. But then I realized, that I spent a lot of time clowning around with the windings and not doing much for attacking. In fact many times, I would begin my attack, and a team mate gets 2 attacks and kills the mob, and oh yeah, the final insult, the attack goes off on the very dead mob. I also noticed, the character spent a huge amount of time to attack, and the damage, was very unimpressive for the stupid long time it took to go off.

When fighting Battle Maiden, I can hardly get an attack in, and try to get out, before the blue splash gets me, that is ridiculous.

Is what I am experiencing, my own sense of illusion from watching what it feels to be a really long animation?

If not can the animation be, say, halved? or more than double the damage done?

  11. You may want to check the actual "miss rolls"

Periodically, in my case the Random Number Generator (RNG) gets stuck on stupid and can't roll under a 90, and thus the miss rate is simply extraordinary. This infrequent happening, may have occurred to you during your ITF, do note that anything 95+ is an automatic miss, so no matter how much accuracy you stacked-up, you are going to miss and miss, and miss. I am not sure, in an area attack does the system roll for each mob in the area, or a single roll is used and compared to each type of mob in the area.

Hope this gives you some solace..

Hey @MsSmart, I understand what you're saying. I thought of one thing that is doable right away. You could have all your other Chaos United alts wear the Edge of Chaos exploration badge. That way, It tags them in some way that connects them with Chaos United. They aren't officially in the SG as far as the game displays, but they are on the 'edge'. Maybe it's a dumb idea, but I thought I'd toss it out there. 🙂  Maybe you could even talk your CU mates into designating 'Edge of Chaos' as an RP auxiliary team name, for alts in the same circumstance.

    That is awesome! Thank you

It doesn't matter.  90% of the player base is lvl 50.  90% of the players wants to be lvl 50.  At this point, it's academic.  So, what possible negative impact could this change have?

    Answer:  None.

Agreed, it is mostly academic. I just like symmetry (personality disorder), but in Everlasting we do Hami 3 times a day and kill hami twice in each, accumulating emps is easy.

nope i wouldnt wear a specific title just to be identified as being in a specific sg on one or two of my characters, also

why does this idea come from an everlasting SG?

it is completly immersion breaking for RP if an SG would force you to wear a specific title on all your alt toons

It would not be compulsory, it is always an individual's choice. The suggestion is a work around to the limitation and SG has in number of members. Of my 30 alts, only 1 is in Chaos United (CU) and the rest in my own personal SG so they have a place to store stuff, etc. The problem is CU does not have room for my 29 other alts (without booting that many other players to make room for me), and there is no way to display to others that despite they are in my personal SG, they are really members of CU. I used Everlasting, for I am in that server, I avoid making any statements on servers I do not play in, it would be wrong for me to assume that difficulties in Everlasting would be also true in other servers; this does not mean my suggestion can't or should not be done in other servers, but it may not make sense there, and I do not know. The idea incidentally came from me, a player, who is addressing a problem that Chaos United is addressing in Everlasting, so used real experience to base my request, as I said before I do not dare put words on folks on other servers.

I'm not exactly sure how a title would help with this.

If you're curious who's in an SG, you can always click on them and see it. Not everyone's going to use some custom title - and certainly everyone won't want one forced on them.  And that title won't affect alts - I *certainly* wouldn't put the same title on all 100+ alts I have, and if this were implemented (or I were told "As a member of this group/coalition, you must use X title," which, given they change by origin, couldn't happen anyway,) I'd leave the SG with a one-finger explanation.

If there are certain people you like playing with, use the player notes feature, then give them 3-5 stars so you can see who they are. You can add a note of your own, or right click and pick "edit note" and you'll see the other alts they're on.

Not that I can't tell if you are in SG or not and which one. The problem is that I have for instance 30 alts, Chaos United does not have 30 slots just for me to have, so I have a single alt in CU, and 29 in my own SG so I can store stuff and craft, etc. While we have our own chat channel, which allows all 30 of my alts to communicate as if they were in CU, I can not display my true colors as a CU  member with all my alts. So I was hoping that instead of saying Super Sue, "The Heroic", I could substitute Heroic with Chaos United, and thus other players would know my affiliation and if I misbehave for instance, they know what SG leader to complain to, or if they like how I support in play, to get them to join CU. The real problem, and this is frankly a work around, is the limitations of how many members you can have in an SG.

  16. I like the idea, simply for symmetry purposes alone.

If you go under empyrean conversion, you can convert 1 empyrean into 20 threads, so conversely you should be able to revert it at the same rate.

Truly it is only a convenience, not an exploit.

Since 1 Empyrean could break down into 20 reward merits, I would like to see the same reverse such as 20 reward merits becomes 1 empyrean. That rate is also observed in Hami raids for instance you either get 80 reward merits or 4 empyreans.

  17. In Everlasting I am a member of Chaos United,, we are a huge SG with 3 Chaos United groups CU, CU1, CU2...

But we have so many players, that we only tend to have a single alt in the CU SG proper, we created a special chat channel to let all the alts communicate with CU and coalition.

What I am after, is for a way to identify the many alts we all have as members of CU in my case, same truth would be so for other mega-SGs. It occurs to me, as you can select from pre-determined titles, if you could actually write your own, you could then you could write, like in my case, Chaos United.

Just a suggestion, I have no idea how easy or difficult it would be

  19. PvP mmm....

I love PvP, but for it to be fun, it truly needs to be sporting, and for that, it requires a true balance among the classes or arch types. The Arch type balance by design are awfully unbalanced from an individual perspective, for the concept of group interaction versus PvE is central to the design. Notice that the PvE engine does not have the AI to know to ignore the melee and suck it to the support, especially any healers. As a result the game works, you can play the defender with not even near the protections the melee has and still be a successful team member.

The problem with PvP, is that the other team, knows the rule that when the opposition's support is down, the rest will follow. That means if you are defender, for instance, the bulls eye is on you, and the class is no way even close to be able to handle that, since their protections are sadly deficient. So when it goes to PvP it takes a real special type of player to want to play such an under dog class.

If you going to give PvP a real boost, it would require a no kidding normalization between all the arch-types; which is a step beyond and most players would be so totally against for they like the status quo the enjoy. Think of a balance between dps and protection, the more dps the less protection; if enforced you approach arch-type balance. So for example a scraper has tremendous dps and very good protections; which by the dps versus protection rule it is out of balance.

In my opinion, PvP is as good as it gets, without a major rebalance and design of the game, who most folks just don't want

  20. This is just a QoL request, not a game breaker thing...

How many times, you see a character go about, and you think, I been looking for those gloves, top, or whatever like forever and can't quite stumble on it...

Would be nice, if I could click on that character, and then go to options and then click "identify costume"; afterwards it saves a costume file, named ident_001 for example. Later you can go to Icons, and go to the tailor and load the saved file, and then go thru the parts so you can learn how to get to them, and what was the name!

After you can back-out and fix the costume they way you want.

  21. Knockback and knockdown each has its uses.

A soloing support class, would rather have knockback and keep the mobs away!

While Melee types would rather knock them down, rather than chase them all over the map!

So at the end, it should be an option, in the options menu to have the effect to knockdown and knockback. In real life, we can make such a choice when strike something by choosing the direction on how we hit something, so this is not like magic, just a courtesy from the devs to players.

  22. I like the proposal

The reprograming of a portal, should not be too hard, its technology, just think how long it takes to load an app on your phone. Lets be honest about this, in the old days, the need to have time sinks were a primary objective of developers. The need for such time sinks, is no longer valid, and that is why developers have worked so hard with the transportation system to make the inter travel between missions less boring. So having the same portal for all missions, is not much of a leap of faith here.
