  1. I found a build for bots/time so I sorta have an idea on how to slot the pets but when it comes to trick arrow I have no idea. I've never tried it before. My general plan was to use the group fly method but I've never really done robots before so I'm not sure how well that works. I've seen a few posts saying it works pretty well though with the pet AI improvements.
  2. Hm, I've never done much with a scrapper. Way back before Villains released on live I made a Wolverine clone that lived for all of five levels lol. What makes axe/nin work better as a scrapper vs a brute? FF... Force Feedback? Not sure if that's the right set but if it is wouldn't that make the knockback worse? I've actually never done anything with regen. I've always liked the idea of regen but how well does it scale when doing lower level content? Edit - I didnt realize Force Feedback had the recharge proc in the set. That could be handy. I've been playing off an on since before villains came out and i still know nothing about all the sets or how to build lol. Do you by chance have an axe/regen build i could look at?
  3. I've played a Huntsmen to 50 and I think I did most of the incarnate stuff on it but I've never done a crabbermind and I always wanted to. But how do they play? Is it similar to the MM? I mean I know the pets have long cool downs that need to be reduced a ton and we cant control the pets. But are they more or less durable then the MM pets? Do the pet defense aura enhancements work for them? I love the idea of the mastermind but I've just never been able to get into them much because I feel like I spend 90% of my play time micro managing pets and the rest just standing there not doing anything. So if Crabermind plays a bit more like a dps with a gaggle of pets, that could be pretty neat. Another question is, can they be set up to be more melee then range? I don't think I've ever seen a melee crab (probably for good reason.)
  4. I took axe/stone to 25 and yea I just cant keep the end in stock. I was over slotting the Crystal Armor and Stamina and I would still run out before I could kill a pack of even level mobs in a mission. So I'm going to take a look at radiation armor. I've never taken it very far before so it'll be worth it to see the powers. I just wish it had a minimal effects setting. Make a cool costume, now cover it in fluffy radio active spell effects.
  5. I've heard great things about rad armor but I've never been able to get past how it looks. If it had a minimal fx like some of the others, I'd be all for it. But i found the revamp notes for stone armor and and couple posts that may have been around the time of the revamp and it sounds like it would be pretty neat. Sounds like it can be built to avoid Granit and I like how the minimal fx look. I tried it out on a stalker the other day and it seemed pretty neat. I've never leveled stone armor through all my years of CoH because I always thought you had to take Granit. So I think ill give axe/stone a try. New question: Do brutes normally take Tough and Weave? I assume I'd probably need to if I'm not taking Granit. Generally my goals are to be able to tank if needed but if not be able to dish out damage. Generally i group more then solo but i also like to solo from time to time. However i dont farm.
  6. I messed around with a brute when Homecoming started up but I knew nothing about builds then. For that matter I know almost nothing about builds now. So figured I'd like to give the brute a go again, and play with the new revamped axe set at the same time. From looking through the forums I saw that it's really end hungry so it needs a secondary with some good recovery. Just to try it out and make sure I like the axe I rolled up a temporary axe/willpower to mess around with. So far axe is awesome and I don't mind willpower but it sounds like there are better choices. I just don't know what they'd be. I assume Bio would be good but I've done bio a number of times and would like to try something else. The thing that drew me to Willpower initially was that it's recovery is a toggle rather then a click. I've always liked more hands off secondary sets but if one of the others has a couple click powers that'd be fine too. Edit- So the wiki says that the Brute/Tanker version of Stone Armor doesn't have end recovery tied to Crystal Armor but the in game description says it does. Is the wiki just out of date? If so would a stone armor brute need to take Granite Armor? I've always hated that power. Otherwise, would a Axe/Stone Brute work well?
  7. Cool thanks. Looks like slotting is pretty close to what I've been going for. I'll need a respec at 50 either way though. I've also been thinking I may end up taking single shot just for the single target rotation to feel better. I'll have to see how it is after putting in the sets. Right now I have most of the gambler sets in but don't have any of the attack sets in yet. (Attuned) So far though it honestly feels like I'm cheating. Nice damage and packs of mobs just miss constantly, granted it's not 4x8 or anything but it feels powerful. The only downfall at the moment is End. I run out pretty fast, hoping the attack sets will help with that. I set up my Stamina and Enduring to match your build and so far the end issues are gone, as long as I'm not fighting clockwork or freaks. So now the only downside is the beam sound effects. I use a mod that changes the sounds and they're great but hearing the same four or five sounds over and over is starting wear on me. Might have to look into just muting those. But all in all I feel like this is something I've been looking for. Good ranged damage but also durable, I always enjoyed melee solo but hated it in groups. So with Sent I feel like it solves the issues I had with melee.
  8. But she's not sure on which archetype and powers to pick besides the dual pistol (but open to others too.) The issue is she also wants to use Biotics, which to me sounds like energy blast but you cant really do energy and dual pistols. Anyone have any ideas? Even if it's through the use of epic power pools. When it comes to the epic pools, I'm not really sure what's all available for each archetype.
  9. The more I play around with Beam/SR leveling the more I am wondering about some of the choices in the build. I didn't even realize they didn't tank Lancer Shot until I read your post. I played a beam a long time ago and don't remember a whole lot, and I've never done SR past say level 30. I did read something a while back about it being a set that didn't require a lot of slots though. Do you by chance have a better build that would work for a Beam/SR Sent?
  10. I found this build on the forums posted back in April. I'm curious if it would need updating for the recent changes.
  11. While trying to get ideas for a costume I stumbled onto a comment posted by @Attache and it got me wondering what we could do for costumes that at least less humanoid. My plan would be to make a Seismic / Elec corruptor and aim for a small (using the mini particle costume thingie) creature, earth sprite thing. Kind of like a gremlin or goblin that's aspected towards earth. I'm pretty terrible with costume creation so I don't know how much of this is really doable. Attache's critter for reference. (Side note: It seems the detail #1 skull mask isn't available for female characters.) Other references - I would prefer it to be female if its possible.
  12. Would you mind sharing your build? I have a beast/nature sitting at 49 that I've wanted to get 50 and do a build with. She was made around when homecoming first launched and I knew next to nothing about builds in general, let alone how to build an MM. Now i know next to next to nothing about builds lol. I really enjoyed the combo though and always felt like they were meant to be played together. Always felt the same about Necro/Dark too.
  13. I dont mind being in melee range. I've been messing around a bit with the 45 warshade i have and it's easier then i remember. Could see it being pretty neat with a good build.
  14. Anyone have a build for beam/rad? I've tried to look through other builds for /rad but i never was any good at building builds so I'm not sure which of the ones I saw would be a good choice to look through. The goals of the character would be mostly teaming but also exemping down to lower level TFs. Preferably ones that are above +0. I've been finding that playing a support class on a +0 team is just boring. The other big thing is I'd prefer it if the character used Speed of Sound or Super Speed. For theme reasons, and just because I really dislike flight. (Super jump kinda feels like flight with extra steps lol)
  15. I have a WS at 45 but honestly I don't even remember leveling it. So I'd like to start a kheld fresh and try to take it to 50 and hopefully figure out how to play it as I go. I always enjoyed VEATs since i first unlocked them on live and always wanted to really give the hero epics a good go but the archetype has eluded me. Bad ass looking, but so complex. I know I don't like form shifting so it'd either have to be a bi or human only form. Human only is my preference. My goal for the character would be to be able to solo well but also group. Typically I enjoy tanks but lately I've found I really dislike melee on other classes because of mobs always being slightly out of range. Where on a tank they're trying to get to me so I don't have to move around to get close enough to hit, if that makes sense. As I understand it, both WS and PB are a mix of ranged and melee. Are there effective builds where you can go just ranged? If not do they have the issue I mentioned above? Or do they have a taunt aura like tankers do? Would the taunt skill fix that? I doubt I explained that very well. Also if the better choice for human form is PB, how do people get around the knockback when grouping? Having tanked for groups with energy blast, I know how annoying it is when you're about to hit a nice aoe and then the pack of mobs flies away. Do PBs just load up on KB to KD enhances? Would that make the already slot starved build even worse? Anyway definitely curious to give one a go.
  16. So far it seems pretty neat. I do wish savage melee had a lil more up front damage but otherwise, the speed makes up for it. SR seems pretty cool too, although i have no idea how to slot it. I'm level 21 now after running posi and dfb and i've only died a couple times. Mostly due to toxic damage. I imagine at higher levels with correct sets and slotting it'll be pretty neat.
  17. After the last big tanker update I've started to really enjoy the archetype. I also really enjoyed street justice (on multiple archetypes) so I wanted to try out the other melee that (I think came out around the same time?) savage melee. It has some pretty neat animations and particle effects. I've also read those that enjoy it, really enjoy it. The other one I'm curious about is SR, I've dabbled with it a bit on a Sentinel and while I have no real experience with pure defense set it seemed interesting. From my forum searching it seems to be well liked on tank. So with the semi new / distant changes to tank, how does the combo work out now?
  18. I was actually just looking at SR. It sounds like it could be fun to play with. I've never really used any pure defense sets before, so it's something new to play around with. I did think about stone, I think I remember reading that they changed the slow movement thing but I think I'd want to avoid stone for now at least.
  19. I've had a bit of a love hate relationship with Sent. On the one hand I like what they could do but I'd always get bored before I could ever get to incarnate abilities. However the revamp sounds pretty neat and even way back in live i always wanted a ranged stone set so that could be pretty neat. But when it comes to secondaries I have no idea. I have the most experience with bio, but I'd like to do something different this time around. I do enjoy soloing at higher difficulty and I also enjoy groups that do the same thing (even if it's just a couple points up.) So something that helps keep me up would be handy... Does the game have Viagra as a secondary set?
  20. It has now grown so big that I can only test half at a time. The larger size seemed to have helped a lot though. Before she was around 5 by 7 inches and the eyes were all weird. Now she is around 11 by 8. You cant see it here but the skin has two different shades. Definitely need to fix some of the gaps between shading and other parts. Fingers especially. The look a bit odd now lol. Once I can afford to buy the thread shades, the shirt and coat will be different shades too. At the moment all I have is 3 shades of gray. Silver, medium and dark. But I suppose it's getting there.
  21. Something like this is what I'd like to do. But... Each of those color blocks would the max size of my embroidery hoop. So I'd have to line up 6 different hoops and and get all that seamless. Don't think that'll be practical. I've been trying to find something about designing embroidery for jackets but I just cant find anything. Plenty on sewing patterns to make a jacket but nothing on what's good or bad for embroidery design. So until I figure that out, I'm bored enough to try this with normal fabric and see how it looks.
  22. Here's how she's looking so far. (Screenshot from my design program.) Added the eye liner and nose shadow and mouth. Also changed the shirt to be shades of gray instead of brown. Kinda blends in with the coat but I can only take so much brown in clothes. I was looking at red but there just isn't any good dark reds for some reason. They have dark of every other color but red is just missing. Most of the ones i was looking were way too bright and vibrant. Made her look like she had Raggedy Ann hair. I could do an auburn hair color. Never used the color so not sure what it looks like stitched. On the bright side, my mom has a massive selection of madeira thread colors so i could borrow most of these to test the colors. I suppose the other option would be to stay black and try to add some dark blue between each "strand" of black hair like you said.
  23. This is a commission of a character from pre shutdown. And this is my first attempt to design it as embroidery. It's definitely not far off but it needs tweaking, lots of tweaking. One of my biggest issues is I don't have enough color shades to do it all. Had to reuse a few. I normally made and sell vector type logos and what not so I've never needed to have more a couple shades for each color. (In the final design, I'm going to make the whole sword blade one color rather then having that light blue section.) Hair attempt #1 It came out fairly well. Each strand needs to be thicker though. By a boat load I'd say. Might go with a lighter color on the hair too. Black on black fabric is kinda hard to see. This is pretty close to how the hair should look once I get it nailed down. Minus the color obviously. If I ever get this to look good, I'm going to try and embroider it on a bomber jacket or something. Although I feel like it'll need something to ground the image, not sure what yet. Maybe like swirling red energy coming from the tip of the sword. Not sure if that would look good though.
  24. So way back when the game shut down I set out to write a novel inspired by the game but set in my own semi futuristic world, where things have gone to a bit of an extreme. But as time went on I soon discovered I don't really have the patience for novel writing, even though I hear my writing was pretty good. I'm just more of a visual person. So instead I set it aside for years. Now I have much more time and instead of writing a novel that I know I'd never finish. I decided, why not make an RPG instead? Of course it's not as easy as snapping your fingers but oddly enough it's not that complicated either. Most of the systems needed are either already in Unity or are user made plug ins. Granted most aren't free but generally they work really well and have had years of development plus great support. So what would I need help with? Let me explain. After talking with my girlfriend for a bit about different systems I'd want to use. We came up with the idea of "Relic Items" some would be wearable, some would just be silly trash items. But they'd all unlock a codex entry detailing something about the original owner, how the item was lost and so on. For example, "So and So's Lost Tooth. Lost in a fight with So and So." Kinda generic at the moment but you get the idea. I hate coming up with character names. I really hate it. So I figured, why not ask the CoH fans if anyone wants to donate some character names. For that purpose, I created a google spread sheet. Anyone that's willing can add their character name, but you can also add other info, such as Archetype, Alignment, a short backstory (I stress the short. I don't know if I'd be able to do much with pages of backstory lol) Power Sets, even Requests for a specific type of item that would unlock your characters codex entry. Note: There is no restriction on character names, other then no gibberish. Link: Google Sheet Also as a side note, if anyone is good with art or animation or even audio and wants to donate their time in that way. Definitely comment or send me a message. Those assets are hard to come by. I thought about ripping out of CoH but I have no idea how or if it'd even work. Plus I think I'd like a more cel shaded art style, brighter colors anyway. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. Talking about the game helps me straighten out things in my brain too. Second note before I space it out: Do I plan to release this game for people to buy? I'd like to keep the option open. Keep everything different enough from CoH that there'd be no copy right issues but whether I'd list it on steam for sale... I'm not sure yet. Right now I'm leaning towards setting it up as a free / donation game. Also this is a single player game, no online systems at all. And now that I've thrown this wall of text at you all, I'm off. Thanks for reading. Looking forward to seeing all your names plus all the other info.
  25. I've been trying to decide between street and energy melee now that they've made some changes to it. I've played street to 50 on a stalker once before and enjoyed it but i'd like to try something different. Energy melee seems fun the little i messed with it and i havn't tried it since the early days of live. But i'm stumped on the secondary choice. I've done shield a lot, and bio, don't like how rad effects look, and i like the idea of SR but i feel kinda squishy. So i'm curious about thoughts people have. I don't play melee that often so most of the sets are a mystery to me. I suppose if all else fails, i could just do willpower. Or shield, i like the set but not a fan of the shields looks. Wish we had a way to turn off the shield.
