  1. Hey guys, I have this elec/elec/mu brute that i'm pretty happy with. So I guess i'm asking for for a review of this build but also asking more general question: Is chain induction fine with 2 slots or is it worth 6 slotting over Mu Lightning? When I play with him currently with his 6 slots I don't really feel like its that strong of a power? Maybe iim wrong? My current build highlights are: 90% energy resist 82.5% SL resist Melee soft cap But i'm always tinkering with my builds for better or worse and have made some changes to this one. New build I made differences Mu Lightning 6 slotted, chain induction reduce to 2 slots.   2. Hey guys just sharing this here since it relates to my blaster. So I have a ice/ice/cold blaster that I've shared on the forums but have had no luck on receiving build suggestions. He had 28% S/L defense and Range defense 30% S/L resistance and 54% cold and 40% fire resistance Which isn't great but was what I came out with for a build with no purple sets and none of the AT sets. I decided to "go against popular opinion maybe" and make him cold focused since he is a ice powered superhero. By popular opinion i would say that for blasters the popular opinion is to soft-cap positional defenses or at least range and then use hover to stay out of melee range. Maybe not for all powersets or builds, but I think for most blasters since we are "squishy" thats kinda recommended. So I decided to try something new and changed his sets now to the tune of 75% Cold resistance (soft cap) 52% fire resistance 32% S/L resistance and then 25% S/L defense 19% F/C defense. I think this is against popular opinion because I don't believe most people build blasters to soft-cap type damage types instead of positionals. I made this while even after reading some other posts that mention more enemies in the game do S/L damage then F/C Damage. What I did after respeccing him was ran a duo fire farm with a fire farmer as my teammate on +4x8 settings. And the reason i'm sharing this is I gotta say I found it to be a lot of fun!!!! He would rush in then I would go right in after him and be able to survive the first hits and help take em down! Was a nice change from just staying at range in hover mode. With the Cold soft-cap build i do carry purples to buff my defense and if your rushing in then it is risky but at same time that makes it kinda fun! I would rush in, use ice slick so people start slipping! then i use aim+build up, frost breath which has a -damage resistance debuff proc and then ice storm and blizzard. If the guy pulled too many groups and people attack me then i just hibernate til aggro is gone and my health is back up! Gives more purpose to hibernate which is kinda fun for me at least. Thought i'd share this because I found this very fun even if it is maybe not the "best" way to build a blaster. And if playing non fire or cold enemies then I can just play more defensively and wait for the tanks and then blast at range again! 🙂 At least thats my plan, haven't tested him yet other this this duo farm experience.
  3. Hey guys, so maybe i'm overthinking incarnates with my builds. Or maybe i'm not will see what you think. So i've yet to do the incarnate content but i've heard for defense softcap on incarnate its 59%. I have a DM/SR scrapper that with set bonuses alone i got him to 58% range, 54% Melee, and then like 45% AoE 😞 #fail lol I'm thinking of redoing his build again (because i'm never fully 100% happy. Always feel i can do better by re-working my build but still avoiding the really expensive sets) and had a question. Don't know if this will make sense but i heard theres an incarnate that will raise you defense by like 3-5% i believe? Is there a preference like "build your defense using set bonuses, and then use incarnates for other things?" or vice versa "take the 3% incarnate and mix a few of your defense sets to maybe buff you in another way? Right now my incarnates with him are Alpha - Spiritual total core revamp for perma soul drain or Resilient Boost to increase damage resistance by 20% Interface - Reactive core interface - For damage resistance debuff proc 50% chance to my attacks Werner your familiar with this toon on the forums you've provided me help many times lol i'm just never fully satisfied lol. Even at 54% melee i'm still strugglng on AV's too. But that's for my DM/SR post to discuss hehe. Any advice for this question or in relation to SR scrappers and incarnates is welcome 🙂
  4. Hey guys what set bonuses do you focus on for controllers? i have an elec/rad that is about halfway built but im wondering if i even need to IO him or maybe just use normal enhancements for him since he's a team character only? maybe sell his io's for influence or transfer to my other toons?
  5. Hey guys so i have a level 50 elec/rad controller. I was in rush to have a controller toon done so i just powerelevelled him to 50. Now I joined a eden tf and when i was playing i kinda felt lost on what I was doing. Normally with my blasters or brutes/scrapper i know im doing good damage. With this toon i believe im more just for support to help weaken the enemies with my radiation powers while buffing my team with my heal and Accelerate metabolism. Is that correct? what should my focus be on when i use this elec/rad in teams?
  6. Hey guys, So with all my toons i kinda focus on softcapping either defense or resistance. then getting as much of the other. Then after that try to get recharge and damage. I rebuilt my ice blaster today he went from 45% defense to 40%. But then after completing his build I realized the 40% is only with Afterburner on! DOH! So without afterburner his defense goes down to like 30%. On offense he has like 19% damage bonus. So I did an AE mission set to +2x4 as well and did surprisingly well even against bosses and EB's. So my question is are defense or resist capping really even needed on blasters unless your looking to be like an AV killer or solo task forces? Feel like if i use him for teaming that somebody else will have the manuevers or leadership stuff to buff my defense little bit. Also seems like most teams of 8 are so strong already that maybe soft-capping isn't as much needed.
  7. Hey guys im curious how you slot lightning field on a brute? my brute is elec/elec/mu and he was my first "farmer" although as you can imagine he was "safe" but not "great" lol. But that's in the past. Now i more use him for normal content which he does just fine. I'm just curious how you would slot lightning field? Right now i have 3 armageddon's in there. I was using that as my Damage aura, but now realizing how low it does of damage i'm wondering if maybe even 3 slots is too much?
  8. Heres my build. Don't know that it'll be much help to you. Looks like we kinda took opposite ideas. Yours is very strong offense, Mine was more focusing on defense. This was actually my first "farm toon" lol. He wasn't fast but was successful on S/L farms. my health never went like less then even 90% on +4x8. Only problem is endurance. basically using power sink everytime its up. Now I use him for normal content with teams. Highlights of this: 90% energy resist 82% S/L resist 65% F/C resist 45% (soft cap) melee defense. 31% S/L defense. More health and regen then yours. Weaknesses in comparison to yours: Not nearly as much damage. Maybe you won't need any defense with the amount of damage your doing. If your on Excelsior you should send me a friend request.   9. Hey everyone, I have a lvl 50 tank character that for thematic reasons im taking Laser Beam Eyes. I know that's really not a great power, again its just thematic reasons. This toon will mainly be duo'ing same level or +1 content pretty much. So even though i assume most skip that power, if you were to take and slot it what wouldyou suggest? In mind I was thinking like 1-2 acc enhancements and then 4 damage procs to try to make it somewhat alright? 6 slotting i understand is not really effective but again this guy won't be used for hard content. So, what would you suggest with slotting that power for 6 slots?
  10. @Werner Hey Werner, I just succeded in solo'ing my first AV!!! Was Battle Maiden but only at lvl 50. So nothing challenging really. I beat her in im gonna guess about 10min. Just wanted to share with you since your av youtube videos were my inspiration for always wanting to be able to do this hehehe. Ya he's not my farmer, and actually not sure if i will take the time and influene to try to get him to be able to solo +4 AV's. I guess i more just want more like this experience wanna be able to take on AV's in general without dying. But it's ok if its +0 or +1 or +2, doesn't have to be +4. As for the farm map I only use that to judge his survivability. cuz ya i figure if can solo survive +4x8, then when he's in teams he'll be plenty fine.
  11. Hey Werner, So until i'm able to afford the more expensive sets Im currently playing as this build. Highlights are: defense: 54% Melee 58% Range 44% AoE S/L resist 40% Regen 284% Health 119.9% What do you think of this one? I had high hopes seeing as his defense is so high but i am little disappointed. Im using the briggs S/L island farm as a way to judge this toons survival. Not sure if thats smart or not. He's does fine on +2x8, but not well on +4x8 which surprised me seeing as his defense is so high. I "assumed" S/L content even at +4x8 that i could be a "tank" with that high of defense and "reasonable" resistance. Maybe 40% isn't reasonable? Also, when i do the +4x8 i don't feel like siphon life does much. is that because my health isn't very high, or the way i have it slotted? maybe both? Any suggestions? I went with the agility spiritual alpha based on another players recommendation of it for perma soul drain.   14. Hey guys, So after my earlier question about running no toggles I tried to make a build. But I just couldn't figure out a way to make it the way my twin is wanting.   15. For a fire blaster is it better to try to focus on defense and then resistance, or resistance first and then get whatever defense you can additionally.?
