I should have been clearer in the OP and linked the initial thread where this discussion originated, or maybe worded my actual post better, but to sum it up my initial statement could be read as "I don't think farming is bad for the game and I'm curious as to why you don't think it is either."

Good thing I edited it! 🙂

I read it a few times and was wondering, what exactly is he suggesting in his opening post?! So i backed down the rhetoric 😄

Well that might be true for some powers, but if I capped fire resistance with just two SO enhancements, why would you want to use three??

    Slot bonuses from set ios.

If you are running on just SOs, I would have to look at how to wing that. But on stupid cheap set ios, you can get your 45+% fire def, some half decent recharge, and pew pew away.

You could totally frankenslot and still be successful with a build half SO and half ultra cheap set ios...

Learned something new today. Mr. G and the Dean/Leanard missions redside are linked. I was totally surprised when Leanard suddenly showed up on a random Mr. G mission. I have done that mission numerous times before and never saw him show up before.

Does anyone know what triggered that? Something in the Leanard dialogs no doubt. Maybe random?

Are there any other linked missions like this? I saw one where you help your clone and he shows up to help you later.

Any others you are aware of. Is there a full list of these? It is a pretty cool concept.

    Redside noob mish arc.

You can kill off (permanently) contacts in the arc that are also villain types in mishs, and they just wont be there. You can make friends with contacts, and then they will s how up. The (new) noob redside arcs are actually super cool

...BUT...and I hate saying it...quality control.  How on earth would you have that short of constant competitions to build missions and the GMs spending most of their time playing them?  Still, don't ask don't get, so...

The same way that is being done _right now_. You have the playerbase do the dirty work, and when you have something that the playerbase has beaten the author into shape about, THEN you take the largely refined product and pass it to the devs for several passes before a shift out of AE and into the actual game world.

Be aware that A LOT of effort goes into validating, cleaning up, and managing new mishs/arcs into the game world, much of it (hey spelling, spelling, grammar, spelling, moar spelling, possible grammar, duplicate name, duplicate task title, odd characters) which sucks up a lot of time.

  5. IS 50+4 Council Farming in PI an unbalanced method of earning rewards?

No. Come on man. Because (someone) cant or dont want to farm doesnt mean there isnt a million other means by which farming is occurring that you are just ignoring. Shall we list the express route to merits and Emps and ISalvage that is used by people in the know? That is absolutely farming, and it is absolutely a more efficient way to unlock i-all-the-things.

Refer the OP's comment from the willtherebeapatch thread:

The only thing I don't like about Rebirth is their insistence on maintaining "the grind" as part of the core gameplay experience.

If "the grind" is bad, what would make anyone (especially the OP) consider stripping away farming options?

I edited some of the original post, because maybe the OP is not actually against farming and just trying to make a point, or maybe they are, but with the vagueness of language I did not want to cast aspersions when their 1 sentence comment does not clearly state their reason for the question and could be confused as to the intent of the question.

Fold Space failing on +4 bosses depresses me too much.

I just noticed this on a reread through.

It doesn't fail. It just doesnt move them. It absolutely does aggro the heck out of everything affected though, so if you want a massive taunt, itll fill them shoes just fine, movement or not.

I tried that once.  I made it through one mission and respeced back into CJ.  I'm not me without my boingboing.  I like Combat Teleport, but I like bouncing more.

    🐰

It takes time to get used to. It certainly isnt an instant-appreciation. Being able to teleport to and through walls and, well, everything is a major advantage. You dont get stuck on scenery when teleporting around. On any char I have with ct, I have f bound to ct target, which is great since it gets me to mobs or people in danger instantly, and lets me load up on procs and tohit to drop a big nuke/aoe/whatever as needed to try and shift the state of the fight.

I admit, it took me a while to get used to ct, but now I just cant leave it behind! And tt across like, all of echo DA? Yes please to my poor teammates looking to get to adamastor.

  8. Ct/tt/fold space are amazing. Would I trade cj for tt? Proooobably not but maybe? I would probably find something else to trade for tt. This build might look strange to some, but it is highly efficient and uses teleport target _extensively_ as part of its main function. Admittedly it is using tt to move singy around, but the fact that tt is a step to foldspace, and (hopefully) everyone knows how awesome combat teleport is, creative use can be made for the whole of the tp pool excluding teleport it self which is garbage.

Combat teleport is STUPID useful. Way more than cj I think, when you start loading up binds... but you dont snag that lotg.

I agree. I really don't know all the IOs that should be included in such an index. I do think for such an index, the big 3 pvp procs should be included. The absorb proc from preventative medicine, maybe the numina & miracle procs.

The perf shifter +end...in my mind is so commonly used (maybe it's not?) that it should be in every index. But, I've never made an index before. I'd have to do some reading through some old Econ texts. (yawn fest)

See, I am not sure I agree with this... I think that a lot of what you see for market movement (excluding the 3 health +ends) is just people building to an existing standard that doesn't explore other capabilities. It really is possible to build a fully functional build without a lot of these things, including prevent +absorb, pshift +end, oblits, unbreaks, so on so forth. However, we have developed a strong build homogenization through build sharing, which makes people building thing just a LITTLE differently a lot better off for the inf, and possibly not even at a performance loss but a performance gain.

Winteros and ATOs are the massive drift from this though, because omg huge bonuses. But things like purples? Totally possible to work around, and the few bits of +rech difference (1.5%, when lined up with things like prevent that give 8.5?) are not going to break the bank except possibly for a dominator...

tl;dr: some of these are popular because they are present in so many homogenized builds, not because they are inherently better than other possible slotting solutions.

  10. Tells have a very specific advantage: When you throw a lfm out there, you can bring people into the team, first come first served. When whatever-goes-please-broadcast happens, you cannot accurately track the order in which requests come in, so you cannot accurately headcount as you invite.

PST is used for a bunch of very valid reasons, even for purposes of altruism and fairness. Moreover, blabbering all over broadcast is noisy _on everyone in the zone_, which is likely to get some people to just turn the damn channel off. This is certainly true for /z, and ive seen it true for broadcast as well. Food for thought. Your desire for broadcast is definitely impinging your wants over the preferences of others.

People broadcast in the hive and rwz _because thats the only damn reason people go there_. There is no other more effective way to manage it, and everyone in the damn zone is there for a singular purpose.

  11. Ive been working my way through redsideallthethings, but broke with tradition to go rogue long enough to get bloody hands badge from WWD. Once I get the badge and unlock the contact, I plan to make my living breaking things and stealing money.

I would like a story that effects change. The story evolves and some new NPCs and arcs arrive while some old NPCs and arcs go away (maybe to Ouroboros).

This already happens redside. You can flat out kill a contact, and thats it for them. Their phone just rings and rings and rings. I think that is better than removing from the list, as there is a legacy in your contact list that speaks to the killing.
