  1. I did try PvP.  I was bad at it.  I simply don't have the twitch reflexes.  And that was over a decade ago, when I was more than a decade younger and my powers still worked more or less the same in PvP as in PvE.  Now that you'd have to figure out how your powers work all over again, make an entirely different build to even be able to participate in casual PvP, and for all I know level up an entirely new character because all of the ones I have might have powersets that are completely useless, just to get beaten up repeatedly by people 20 years younger than I am who have spent the last decade of their lives playing PvP games...nah.  Too much effort for zero reward.

I couldnt afford to keep the p2w buffs going all the time on a level 50.  I think thats a rich people problem.  I usually buy 8 hours of all 3 at level 1.  After that only special situations.

Yeah, but once you hit 50 you're only a few levels away from Clarion Destiny.

    No, @cranebump.

    It's Impervium.

Regarding the MediPort system, as I recall from a level 25'ish story arc, it wasn't for almost ten years before a public health care version was being introduced for the general population, and only for those who were at-risk (which, honestly, given Paragon City is . . . well, everyone!  But the arc, if I recall correctly, suggests that they meant those with health issues and the elderly).  Prior to 2012, only registered Heroes were able to use the MediPort system (officially and legally, anyway).

But maybe I'm not remembering correctly.  I tend to know the Redside lore more thoroughly.

You're remembering correctly.  The arc is from Roy Cooling.

I'm not attacking you, Saikochoro, nor anyone else that dislikes VOIP, but I've never understood the hatred that some people have for voice coms.

Can someone explain to me why the dislike for voice communication with your teammates in videogames?

I like to listen to music while I play.  That doesn't go well with voice chat.  I don't like to just listen in either, because I find that when people are using voice chat they tend not to read the in-game chat.

  5. I'd say Scirocco is definitely the least evil of the patrons, although I wouldn't describe him as a Rogue, exactly, more like "oh woe is me, for I am cursed to be evil."  So, Emo alignment.  Black Scorpion's alignment is "dumb as a sack of bricks," Mako's is "total psycho."  Ghost Widow is just a villain, although some of her dialogue suggests that villainy's not doing it for her anymore, but she's kinda stuck with Arachnos, being dead and all.

I would suggest stopping after the second arc, since the third arc for all the patrons has you furthering Operation Destiny and the last has you hand Recluse his head to prove that you're a better villain than him.

As he pointed out, any mission that grants a badge itself, does *NOT* count for Ouroboros challenge badges.

Not quite true.  Some of the newer arcs award badges for completion and still count as arcs for Ouro badge purposes.

In order for an arc to award the Ouro badges, it has to give you a book icon next to the contact if you were to do it the old-fashioned way.  There might be some exceptions but that's the general rule.

I believe the arc in question needs to be one that would award a souvenir and not just a quick badge mission.  They definetly still award their badges, as I use the Atlas Park/Mercy Island intro arcs t farm the 1-15 tiers, and "The Strange Case of Benjamin A. Decker" for the level 50 set.

For future reference, you can get the level 50 badges from the Dark Astoria intro arcs.  No fighting required.

But what happens when you move a toon between servers?  Do all of the alternate universes from the original server get destroyed?  Or does their previous existence get erased?

If you want to get that meta about it, every server would be an alternate multiverse.  So their previous existence still happened in their original multiverse and the alternate universes they destroyed or saved are still destroyed or saved on their original server.

Actually, they ARE heroes and villians... they're just trying to keep their secret identity a secret.   But don't ask me why that's still important.

Because superheroes cause a lot of collateral damage, and they don't want to get their asses sued.  Or because their mom think heroing is too dangerous and they don't want her to worry.  (Said mom has been kidnapped by the CoT twice in the last week, but hey, that's just life in Paragon City.)

  9. If you use one of the brown cave maps, rather than the blue or yellow caves, the escort will be very hard to miss.  Some of those maps are really linear, and they have a big open cave room in the back.  So you could lead the escort to a bilnky in the back, then chain the boss off that, and they'll spawn in the same room, so players can't really ditch the escort after completing the lead-to.

Some of those match ups are hard... how do I pick between grilled cheese and pbj?

edit - I went with pbj and it lost to fried chicken sandwich in the final

You choose the grilled cheese.  You always choose the grilled cheese, no matter what the other options are.

    Things I find odd

Trolls explaining to other Trolls on the street the effects of superadine. I constantly see Trolls in Skyway saying things like "Me have body by superadine!" to a guy whose skin is literally green because he's already hooked on the stuff.

Most trolls' intelligence level is about on par with Beavis and Butthead, so stating and restating the obvious is just par for the course.

    12 hours ago, GastlyGibus said:

Also seeing Outcast lieutenants and bosses struggling with a civilian while trying to steal their purse. Dude, you have super powers! Just give them a quick zap and they'll drop it!

Not everyone with super powers decides to become a hero.  Lots of invincible civilians out there.  The ones who aren't invincible drop the purse and run like any sensible person would when faced with a purse-snatcher who can breathe fire.    There's nothing important in those purses anyway, because unlike in the real world, in Paragon City you can actually fit things into the pockets in women's clothes.

  12. All the gold-side content is required for some of the new badges the HC team added.  So there's your reward for doing that.

As for redside, you're rewarded by getting better-designed arcs that don't drag on forever and send you all over the city.

The endgame doesn't have nearly enough content to earn all the incarnate powers without a lot of repetitive grinding.  Now repeat that for every alt.  This was a terrible design decision by the live devs that the HC team has rectified.  There is nothing stopping you from running trials and Incarnate arcs if you want to.

If you really want the game to be grindy again, you can still make your own grind.  As for the rest of us, as Omega-202 said, we're old farts who like being able to trick out our alts in a reasonable time frame.

  13. You'll get the yellow dot even if you've completed the mission, if you haven't returned to the contact yet.

Fun fact, the mission transporter and team transporter will also take you to a completed mission if it's the first one in your list.  So, uh, make sure you set the mission you want to go to if you don't want to blow a charge.

Ah, ya tricked me. So, let me reword the question, in terms of killspeed, ignoring durability and mezzability, is a Scrapper faster than a Blaster or vice versa? I've never quite figured out which has more overall net-killespeed.

Ignoring TW/Bio because it's broken?  It sure feels like my Blasters kill faster, but they run on lower diff so of course things die faster.  Being able to nuke every other spawn does significantly contribute to kill speed though.

22 minutes ago, Bill Z Bubba said:

Scrappers don't get mezzed and are therefore superior to blasters cuz a faceplanted blaster's DPS = 0.

Clarion Destiny, a Blaster's best friend.

  15. Mission design might be an interesting topic to discuss.  What works, what doesn't, are there too many cutscenes in the Incarnate content (yes, yes there are.)

Zone revamps/updates would also be an interesting one.  Obviously something like Faultline would be beyond the scope of a small volunteer team, but giving some zones the Brickstown or Kings Row treatment might be doable?

Oh, just go down the columns. "Skullcracker SHattershield." "Sable Regis." "Mynx minx." "Minx jinx" "Vixen Hell Lass." "Rose Cracker." (Hmm. Plant/ice or plant/cold...)

... reminds me.I had Rosy of the Ice. It's an anagram. Can you figure out what of? 🙂

Skullcracker Shattershield sounds like  a Diablo boss.

That depends on if you consider the robot character a person or not and if that personhood is more important than the nuts and bolts. But then it gets more complicated when something like Number 5 comes along. Do we recognize this robot as a person with feelings or just a thing that is malfunctioning?

And what about Skynet or Agent Smith? Both deemed humans expendable, but since Agent Smith has a human name and a face do we consider that more of a person than the thing that sent Arnold back in time naked?

Agent Smith doesn't have a human face any more than Neo has a sweet trenchcoat.

What about Optimus Prime?  "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" undoubtedly includes himself.  And Star Trek established that Data is a person, so his superhuman strength would be a natural origin power.

You aren't 'super' at all; your amazing talents come from intense training and innate abilities. You might have been driven to physical excellence by some all-encompassing desire for perfection or revenge, or perhaps you are not human at all, and possess powers natural to your race.

It's right there in the character creator.

So, would a robot character be natural origin, if they use the powers they were built with?
