  1. Hey people who were around pre-shutdown, remember how pillars used to have finials at the ends? Here's a screenshot from a demorecorded base:

Unfortunately I don't have screenshots of any of the other styles of pillar, just the Ancient(?) ones, but wherever those objects are stored in the .piggs, the other styles are probably stored nearby... Anyway, I'd love to have them back, even if I have to place them by hand instead of having them added automatically to the ends of pillars like they used to!

  2. No, healix, thank YOU (and everyone else who's posted here). You have no idea how much it means to me, seeing actual written responses. Lately I feel a lot like everything I do amounts to just screaming into the void, and every time I see words regarding something I've created, that feeling gets pushed back a little bit, for a little while, enough for me to feel like my life has actual meaning.

  3. Oh, that's a whole bunch of radiation themed characters that have just gone up - here's my hat in the ring, I already posted Geiger Countess several pages ago but here's Schroedinger's Cat, my savage/rad stalker (appropriately difficult to observe!):

Sadly "Schroedinger's Catgirl" is too long a name; I'd have liked that better. Yeah, she's a zombie, how else are you supposed to be simultaneously alive and dead?

  4. Logged in yesterday to find all the mid-level ceilings in my base had reset itself to the default Tech Circles which stood out like a sore thumb next to all the arcane stonework that the rest of the base is made of. Went into editor to change it back, figuring it must have been an unnoticed accident last time thee base was edited, to find that the Mid Ceilings style tab is missing the Arcane Grid texture and all three Ancient textures entirely. High and low ceilings are still fine. Please fix, my base is ugly!

  5. Not a damn clue, the base of my thumb swelled up and turned purple for no apparent reason - looked for all the world like a sprain, but X-rays showed nothing out of place. I couldn't use my right hand almost at all for days, and after that it hurt to exert pressure like with a can opener or hold it in the position I'd need to grip a pencil.

Not neccesarily. You could easily be a mutant who is super fast and strong but lacks enough destructive power to take on higher level villains- and hence has taken up a giant heavy weapon.

Justifies technology, not demands it. Nobody's implying the mutation can't be the more important part of the character even when a piece of technology is key to their MO, like your proposed super-strong Titan Weapon wielder (who might not be able to handle a weapon like that without that mutant strength) or my archer (a tactile-telekinetic; any projectile leaving her hand homes in on its target). However, in both cases, if you felt like it you could justify a technology origin, because without their weapons they'd be very different characters, right?

  7. Hi, teleport concept-main here!

I still get use from Recall Friend. There are two situations in particular where I would definitely NOT want to hit the entire team with it:

    1. If I'm the only support AT on a team or if there's otherwise nobody with a combat-viable rez power, Recall Friend can remove a KO'd teammate from danger where they can pop a wakie and I can de-mez them where they won't immediately faceplant again;

    2. One teammate had to go AFK on a large map, especially a lab with multiple elevators to navigate, and the team is now far away from that player.

That said: Changes to TP Foe, addition of viable attacks to the pool (Animation from Burst Of Speed as seen in the blaster Marital secondary? Ohh yes!), and ESPECIALLY letting me use the animation from Mystic Flight's Translocation for my teleporting would absolutely catch my attention.

  8. Fuzzy line is canonical both by lore history (i. e. calling them the five MODERN origins, and the bit about how 'psychic' used to be considered an origin in its own right) and by, I would argue, game mechanics in the form of dual origin enhancements. In theory you could slot up a low-mid level character with nothing but "relic" style DOs and, imagining that your character is actually making use of things like enchanted earrings and esoteric techniques, a Magic origin would be narratively indistinguishable from a Natural. If there's a new-agey psychic who uses things like crystal foci and divining rods and dreams, can we tell if she's a mutant or a mage, really?

I just want a torch that lays on the floor. Lit or unlit doesn't matter.

A torch like one that you would hold that's been placed on the floor, or like a floor torch that's been knocked over? In both cases, we have those already -

    1. the Carnie torch that Seneschals wield is in the Weapons tab - it's not lit, but as you said, that doesn't matter (presumably you intend to drop a flame FX on it)

    2. Floor torches that we already have can be made lie horizontally by holding Shift-Alt or Ctrl-Alt and dragging to rotate until it's in the desired position.

  10. I witnessed something amazing tonight. The setting:  Roy Cooling's arc, top of Sky Raider seabase. A series of events takes place:

    1. Captain Castillo, the last enemy left (as usual) in the immediate area when his HP is taken down far enough to trigger the script, begins monologuing.

    2. In order to prevent his face being beaten in while he says his lines about how things could be much more dramatic right about now, he switches from enemy con to ally con.

    3. Castillo wonders aloud how things could be made more exciting, as normal.

    4. The Porter that had fled the scene sometime earlier on account of low HP blinks back in.

    5. Castillo, who now cons as an ally, flies up to the porter and DECKS him.

    6. Castillo continues his monologue, and sets everything on fire.

...For almost any other villain I can think of this would be merely an amusing quirk of the AI, but honestly, for Castillo? 100% in character. "GET OUT OF MY SPOTLIGHT, IDIOT -- Okay anyway..."

  11. The only thing I don't like too much about the magic invention tables is that book that I have replacing the computer screen has no back facing as it's an older object meant to be laid flat on a surface, so the tables have to be placed close to a wall to hide that. I know we have newer open book items but the old one is larger and covers the monitor better...
