  1. Bill, I can give you the actual recharge % for the claws rotation of FU - Slash - Focus - Shockwave:

The big one is shockwave (needing 206% recharge total to achieve "gapless", so say 90% recharge slotting + 116% from global sources including hasten). Others can actually run with a bit less than that. Realistically, having say 200% recharge only adds approx .08s delay for future shockwaves, so claws has a very modest level of recharge required for that rotation.

After that, you're mostly adding recharge to boost availability of utility skills (and/or skills like water spout) + decrease cooldown of hasten.

Why the focus on rotating around Shockwave? Is that for single target?  It looks like the other t1/t2's in Claws do more damage.  Thanks.

This is talked about a couple of times back and forth in the thread already. Shockwave still has really good DPA despite being a cone, but the biggest reason is the fact that it can be slotted with a -20% Res Proc which gives the entire chain around it a significant boost. Otherwise the only option for optimal chain is Follow UP > Focus > Slash, and it takes a ridiculous amount of recharge to get there. Either way, Shockwave with the proc is worth it.

It's *only* 313% recharge in Followup for it to work out without a pause.

I did try out the shockwave chain instead but the end suckage was just too damn high.

Best time so far with BZB claws/sr scrapper: 2:30 for around 380 DPS. I'll take it but I think it was an aberration. Looks like I'm averaging around 3 minutes per pylon.

Can someone help me understand these stalker times of under a minute? Is it just assassin's strike doing this?

  2. Just felt the need to hop in and remind everyone of SR's scaling resists. When coupled with tough and the +20% recharge/+movement  from Quickness, it's not quite the one trick pony as everyone describes it.

Mostly, yes, but I even have an SR tank now because of how the set as a whole has performed for me over the years.

  3. Kinda surprised claws was only mentioned in relation to widows so far.

Took my main claws/sr into a burn farm and was surprised when he not only was able to survive by turning insps into sturdies like I normally do for lucks with my spines/fa, but he actually cleared it in about the same time. And that was only with spin and shockwave for AoE.

I suspect that a claws/fa brute running Followup, Spin, Eviscerate, Shockwave, Burn backed by FA and FE would tear some #&$^ up.

  4. Iirc, back during live, Reactive Radial was the best choice when pylon testing. Degenerative Core was second. Interface can only be stacked so many times, and was sort of a waste when every Tom, Dick and Harry; Peter, Paul and Mary had Reactive.

Slotted BZB Scrap's T4 Degenerative (-hp/minor DoT) last night and got my best pylon time yet at 3:12 for 327 DPS. Woot. Now I just have to build a new T4 hybrid assault since I choose the incorrect dbltap +energy T4 instead of the big damage buff.

  5. I have a 50/115 Claws/SR brute on Torch. I have a 50/45 Claws/SR scrapper on Excel.

Yes, they are the same character.

My brute doesn't worry about survival The extra HP and higher damres caps backed by barrier and the better performing scaling resists from the passives, along with access to superior conditioning instead of conserve power, just make him an absolute beast.

My scrapper, on the other hand, is currently dishing out just over 50% more DPS against pylons. Squishier against the +4/x8 spawns of the world, yes, but he's also killing them faster, so it's kind of a wash. To be fair to the brute, I haven't gone back and fixed his incarnate T4 choices based on what I've learned lately but regardless of what I do there, the AT IO buffs are certainly geared heavily in the scrapper's favor.

While I love 'em both, the brute is still more fun for me since his taunt aura means less chasing enemies around. More time is spent just killin.

And killin that bad guys is the joy of the game for me.

  6. 2:17 with a Martial Arts/Fire scrapper PvE Build (not pylon specific).  DPS of ~407

    Tier 3 musculature / tier 3 degen/ tier 3 ageless / tier 3 +dmg hybrid.

Could everyone please state WHICH T3 or T4 you're using?

I just crafted a T3 degen (best time with t4 reactive (75% debuff/25% fire)  is 3:23. Time with t3 degen (75% chance -max hp) is 3:30 on my claws/sr.

Should I have gone the other way on the degen? DoT over -HP?

  7. Just wanted to verify that the claws fu, focus, slash, shockwave chain backed by musculature and the chance for -resistance in both slash and shockwave is apparently the way to go.

Which kinda sucks, honestly. Might as well go build a beam/bio sent at this point.

On a happier note, I still greatly enjoy ripping up +4/x8 spawns with my venerable claws/sr brute and scrapper. Brute still seems a bit more on the fun and sturdy side.

  8. 4:19 with T3 musculature vs 4:13 with T4 spiritual. Just notating for later.

Welcome back Bill! Interesting to see a familiar name when so many have decided to use different ones this go-around.

Want to toss some food-for-thought your way since I was just testing Claws with a different Secondary. We had looked at FU > Focus > Slash as being the "best" we could get back on Live, and I still believe that when it comes to maximized recharge, that can be up there, but with the changes to PPM and the ability to access another -Res proc with Shockwave, it looks like a T4 Musculature Core with a FU > Focus > Slash > SW (-20%'ers in Slash/SW) is a solid choice, maybe even the optimal choice if there's not other reasons you'd be chasing Recharge with Spiritual.

If your Follow Up's recharge (without Spiritual) is over 3.3/s, and you have Shockwave with a Recharge at 4/s or less, then I'd say shoot for the Musculature route with Shockwave, and put a -20% Res in it (the Annihilation one so you have two different effect sources, Achilles -20 in Slash).

The chasing of +recharge may very well be nothing but a holdover from the old days. I lost all my DPS spreadsheets and just don't have the energy these days to recreate them from scratch. You may very well be absolutely correct on the Musc + fu, focus, slash, sw chain with 2 -res debuff.

It's just... not as pretty. Ya know?

But you can probably answer this: does the recharge buff from spiritual affect the recharge rate of the other incarnate powers?

  9. Wow. This thread blew up. Good reading. Amazed at some of the times I'm seeing.

Rebuilt my main Claws/SR back to his scrapper origin.

    Followup, focus, slash, repeat.

    Alpha Spiritual T4

Interface Reactive T4 75% DR debuff/25% fire dot

    Hybrid Assault dbltap energy

    Achilles' in slash

Both AT +crit IOs are slotted, the proc in followup

Focus has Javelin's chance for toxic.

    280 DPS.

Guess I'm gonna have to look at BIO armor.

Are my incarnate picks just plain wrong? I have to go spiritual for the fu, focus, slash chain to be pauseless.

  10. Being unhappy with my bruts 203 DPS, I tweaked a fewthings and got him up to 209.

Since I had another claws/sr for a different server, I spent the time to get him to 50 and mostly tricked out and ran a test before getting any incarnate powers. 208. Compared to the brute's fully T4 build. Not bad.

Got alpha spiritual, interface reactive up to T3 and ran again, plus a couple IOs I missed, new DPS 248.

So the AT IOs... you can take the scrapper +3/+6 crit chance and stick it in a throw-away attack, because it's not a proc. The proc one I stuck in followup.

Brutes, unfortunately, are both procs. And I can't fit both in my build so I went with the +regen/+recovery.

Now here's the funny part, that 248 DPS run on my scrapper was for a 5:19 time. Last night I add T1 hybrid assault and ran another test... 5:51 was the time. Wut?

Obviously the need for multiple runs to get a proper average is a necessity.

I am interested in what his final time will be after getting reactive and assault to T4.

  11. Just checked and pylons have 30677 HP. Attempting to figure out how to determine the regen rate. Ah, Power Analyzer from P2W vendor.

    102.26hp/sec for pylons in I-25.

    Resistances are still at 20%.

    First run took 504 seconds.

Claws/SR brute. Followup, Focus, Slash, repeat.

So with the equation above and the new values:

    ((30677+(102.26*504))/504)/(.8)) = 203.9 DPS

  12. Back in the old days, I had a silence.ogg file that I could use to replace specific annoying looping sounds like the peacebringer high pitched whine or the thrumming noise from energy melee or superspeed.

However, I've lost that file and all the sound file names and it appears that score isn't using a data directory for such fixes.

Does anyone know how to silence specific sounds with this configuration of CoH/V? Thanks much.

  13. Wow, the actual BillZ back online. . . BillZ you wouldn't remember me but you were the first person I met ingame right after I joined (right after the GDN).

You dropped some influence on my first character - Reigning Darke - and mentored me along the way.

Thanks for all you have done and hope to see you back in game!

Awesome. Glad I helped make it a good experience like so many did for me when I first showed up.
