  1. I've seen this image as part of a story that there's accusations of using AI to generate art; no idea of that's true though.  This basically reminds me Tod McFarland (sp?) drawing Spiderman's webbing, it's more exciting because it's more detailed!  Meanwhile in the real world: girl, you need to buy a brush.

there's something to be said about making skippable content within a mission, surely you want all of the mission to be engaging?

Many players* now feel that hunting out short cuts to fast and easy rewards is the best and only reasonable way to play, that's why we get threads here like "what's the fastest way to get merits?"  I figure AE farming really set up that sugar rush mentality for them.

But yeah, better mission design all round helps.  My fave example is Summer Block Buster: you're capped to (what is it, 35?), no hiding behind your purples and Incarnates, no speed running around half the arena battles or anything.  You have to know how to play, not snooze your way through.

*who weirdly taking insult when I ever say these things, but I'm used to it by now ha ha.

For example, a Prussian Prince of Automatons is ridiculous. I don't ever want to come up against him or fight his Nemesis dressed in 19th century uniforms, thank you very much. On the other hand, the Skulls or the Hellions are not very ridiculous.

And which one winds hands down for having more visual panache?  I'll take Nems every time.  Also, be4cd5f7730ac89c5c143ec9f737cab7.thumb.jpg.ad376a962914967b66055e1c3302ffca.jpg

Trying to force others to play the way you want is wrong.

I'll still call them wrong for cheating at the game*, mainly because they're missing the fun of it all and will get bored awfully fast.  😃  But I know that's just me.

Agreed on the bit about "mofo" though.

*I mean, the devs didn't design it to be played that way, and speedruns are intended to get the same rewards faster and with less effort, so the term feels applicable.

I just dislike that the changes seem designed to punish fully setted out players at the expense of the rest of us.

Not punish but the evolve up to meet the power creep (that they themselves have encouraged and created).  Although I have sympathy with your stance, I fairly often don't bother to obsessively number-crunch every build, chase every accolade no matter how bored I am of Citadel or whatever... This game used to be more for casual play, and while it still largely is, the creep has crept just a bit more...

  6. OK, "it would seem that the means to accomplish this dissuades Devs from making this a priority, because players have asked for this since before Live shut down."

There's levels of difficuly to be considered.  I probably could fly using tarps and sticks, or at least glide, but the difficulty of achieving it means it's probably not worth it.  Or to put it country simple, "a dog can kill a skunk, but it aint worth it."  I seriously doubt the devs sat around "ya wanna fix the name thing with that server suffix idea?  Nah, let's make some Council guys rez."  Not at all in the same ballpark, unless I guess you want to hold some seething distrust for the Devs.

That would be ideal, but the original devs back before the game was shut down couldn't pull it off because of the way the game is already coded.  I suspect that trying to alter it now would be a nightmare.

Indeed, this idea is very old at this point, I'd think we would have had it by now if we could.

So far, the stories are set in a time/times when the Jedi are deteriorating.  That sets up conflict and upheaval, and is why storytellers focus on those points of time. When the Jedi (or heroes in a larger sense) are at their purest and best, conflict would likely quickly resolve, and the story be rather dull after that point until the next cycle of growing lax resting on laurels, deterioration, conflict, purging, and renewal.

Comic books alone published hundreds and hundreds if not thousands of heroic stories up until what the 1980s?  Superman alone wasn't focuses on the times he got lazy or deteriorating.  There were movie series, westerns, pulps, and you can even go back further to Homer Beowulf... heroes aren't dull.  Only writers are.  That's a failure of current imagination.

  9. "This doesn't make sense" ha ha!

Anyways, cheap shots aside, yeah, tired of "the Jedi were all failures or corrupt or worse," plus the go-to for current pop culture "ooohh, these bad guys are really bad-ass, doesn't that make them interesting?"  No, that makes them bad, not bad-ass.

Heroes are passe these days, which is exactly why we need more of them, not failures and corrupted people.

That aside, the samurai-leaning takes in The Mandalorean were it's best aspects, so that leaning here might work out.  Just please no more CGI rock-fights like Obi-Wan degenerated into.

  10. People run BAF all the time, and I have seen and done a few of the others; I'm not a big fan of them so I don't generally pay much attention for them though.  But yeah, on the flip side, people are using their Incarnate powers everywhere else.  Meanwhile here I am even rarely dropping a Lore outside top level stuff because it feels like cheating to me... like a chump!

  11. @Nostromo21 Even if you make some "mistakes" and you can't hit perma-Dom, the character will very most likely still be quite playable.  Maybe you can't make insane-o runs thru solo TFs at 4/8, but still playable!   My most recent Dom is at Vet Level 30 or so, and she never reached perma, and is still a beast.  I usually PUG, but Doms are about the safest soloists (apply hold, then move in to attack the helpless), apart from Stalkers, but both may be a tad slow for today's cracked-out style of play.

Most of the sets listed above aren't all that pricey TBH either; heck, shoot me a forums-note with your global and I'll send you some Inf.  Early Doms can be rough, but when they start to bloom later, woo boy, the wait is worth it!

So, I open up MiDs and looked at Fortunata.  And, without spending 40 hours 50ing and running this thing it looks to suffer the same issues as Crab.  In effect, I could make my genderless skull a Mind/Psi Dom and run circles around the Fortunata.  Because VEATs and HEATs are shot in the foot from the starting line.

I dunno... I've borrowed a few forum-builds over the years that were pretty OP, and out of all of them, my Fort was the OP-est.  And that was years ago, I bet they're even more OP now.  But I do team, solo I suppose might be different.

  13. I just finished a Dom that has it but I rarly think to use it unless I can see an easy corner directly in front of me to shove them into, too much scrapperlock on the brain I guess.  This idea has now been noted however and I'll be sure to make use of it later.

I only find it overwhelming on rare occasions, like when an all MM TF is loitering with all their pets, and they don't have release_pets macroed up. C'mon guys, you can do it.

Ultimately I agree with you, this is just a minor annoyance caused by inconsiderate players.

But... the idea of knocking them into the void to fall into the pool and be turned into a Rikti monkey (say, until they climb out of the pool) is such a great idea that I don't care!

Are Mayhem missions simply les popular than they were before Sunset?  I'm getting surprisingly little attention from attempts to start one, even when other stuff is getting posted in LFG.

I think it's always been thay way.  I know redside I used to try and skip them; I normally tend to run squishies and wave after wave of ambushing Longbow got tiresome and played tougher than I think was intended.  But yeah, even blue side these days no one wants those.  Radio missions are mostly cake walks, but it's not uncommon to have a death or two in a mayhem and oh dear god why would you expect a modern player to even consider such a horrible, horrible thing you monster?
