  1. I'm enjoying my Beam/Time a lot so far. I haven't gotten him high enough to comment on how well the sets work together, though I'm definitely looking forward to the Recharge boost. What I can say, though, is that the sound design of the two sets go together very well so far. I had a Eng/Time that didn't work for me because of how jarring those sets sounded together, but with my Beam/Time it sounds very cohesive, especially with the draw sound effect. Time Wall -> Charged Shot -> Single Shot sounds great, and perfect for a character in tech armor.
  2. Scratch that - it's not in Pine's yet, but there's a Knockback set with a KB->KD, Sudden Acceleration, which seems to work in Lightning Clap. Stackable AoE stuns with some KD to keep them in my DS? Sounds like one heck of a synergy to me!
  3. I mostly did pick-up RP blue-side, but I was usually on Bonnes, Mr. Montreal, or Tyrangelis. Red-side, I had a lot of fun with the Dread Aces as the one-and-only Gloomgeist. I haven't convinced him to play, yet, but Kivuli is a real-life friend of mine. If any of the Maggie's Rock old-timers want to send him a message, I'll happily pass it along. It feels so good to be back! :D
  4. Yeah, this character is much more about the RP and concept than it is about powerset synergy. Alas, if only I could put the KB->KD IO in Lightning Clap, then I could do wonders with that and Oppressive Gloom! If I were doing this as a Brute, at least I could use Electric Fences first, but I suspect I'll have plenty of fun as it is. :D Also, FWIW, I did some more digging, and I found a video of /Dark that both used CoD and was zoomed-in enough that I could clearly see that I couldn't see the actual model in combat. My plan is sound!
  5. Saikochoro asked about what favors Brutes, we both answered, and were thus both on-topic. As the eternal question of Scrapper vs. Brute pops up over and over again, just like it used to, this thread will be clicked on many times, and Saikochoro's question and both of our answers will continue to be helpful and relevant.
  6. I don't have much experience with them myself, but Fury-buffed damage auras, like Death Shroud and Lightning Field, are said to be things of beauty.
  7. Some sets and combos strongly favor one AT over the other, and Elec/Shield is probably the one that leans the furthest. It's not obvious, but the way Elec/'s Lightning Rod and /Shield's Shield Charge work is by summoning pseudopets, and those are what deliver the effect while you're teleporting. The thing is that their damage is based on your base damage, which is way higher for Scrappers than for Brutes. Brutes' low base damage is offset by Fury, but that doesn't come into play with these abilities.
  8. Indeed. I'll need to put some thought into Enhancement Boosters and what set bonuses I want to keep at what levels, but I think this'll be my starting point. 60.19% To-Hit, 40% End Level 14: Tactics (A) Gaussian's Synchronized Fire-Control - To Hit Buff: Level 25 (15) Gaussian's Synchronized Fire-Control - To Hit Buff/Endurance: Level 25 (15) Adjusted Targeting - To Hit Buff: Level 25 (17) Adjusted Targeting - To Hit Buff/Endurance: Level 25 (17) To Hit Buff IO: Level 50 Set Bonuses: Gaussian's Synchronized Fire-Control (Tactics) 7.5% SpeedJumping, 7.5% JumpHeight, 7.5% SpeedFlying, 7.5% SpeedRunning Adjusted Targeting (Tactics) 2% DamageBuff(All)
  9. I was wrong about my assumption that E3 wouldn't have consistent access to fast Zapp. As it says in https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,1294.0.html, Blaster Tactics is now at 10%, so with a Kismet and a five-slotted Tactics, non-/Dev Blasters can all have fastsnipes all the time.
  10. Yeah, when I mentioned fastsnipes earlier, I had forgotten that Blaster Tactics was boosted from 7% to 10%, so I thought that Zapp would only be fast when I had Aim up. A Kismet in CJ and a well-slotted Tactics were already going to be in my E3B build, so with a slightly different slotting I'll indeed have a zippy Zapp. Sentinel's still compelling due to Tesla Cage, Static Shield, and Lightning Reflexes, but definitely less so if Zapping Bolt isn't such a big deal.
  11. I used to have an Elec/Dark Brute that I was excited to start playing, but then The Snap Announcement happened. I'm remaking him, but I think I'll do so as a Scrapper. A stronger LR sounds more fun than a stronger DS, and I like the freedom of pausing during play. My Stone/Elec can stay Brute for SMASH and tanking, and my Claws/WP is meant for gogogo play, so Brute it shall stay. In any case, does Elec/Dark sound better on a Scrapper to you all? Also, before I really get going, it's worth asking all you /Dark vets the most important question about this character. The idea with this character is that between his featureless black model, the thunderhead aura, Elec/, Dark Embrace, Murky Cloud (with noir customization), and Cloak of Darkness, he'll look like a vaguely humanoid-shaped evil cloud that occasionally spews red lightning. Is that what I'll get, or does CoD stop obfuscating your model when you attack?
  12. It's immensely satisfying that you were the one to post this thread, Zombie Man.
  13. This thread makes me feel warm and fuzzy - hey, guys! :D As for the topic, anything /Shield is good, but BS/Shield is especially satisfying to me. Frankly, it's the most satisfying sword and board experience I've had in any computer game. DB/SR is another combo I particularly enjoy, especially with /SR's recharge bonus nearly making BF-AV available all on its own (with 3 SOs-worth of recharge in BF, you're just under 15% global recharge away).
  14. I want to make a character with Electrical Blast, and the classic E3 Blaster seems like the obvious choice, but I'm starting to wonder if he might work better as a Sentinel. If I recall correctly, the conventional wisdom is that the E3 is somewhat lacking in ST damage, but can drain a group's endurance as long as they can survive SC+PS. Also, there's a hold in each of the Elecs, which seems very handy. Fastsnipes are now a thing, but not consistently available to an E3. At the end of the day, it may be a bit underpowered in ST performance, but it has some neat tricks and looks and feels awesome. It can also be a bit dangerous, but one of main Blasters BITD was Fire/Fire/Fire, so I'm *very* familiar with the consequences of jumping into melee. :P As a Sentinel, my blasts would be weaker... but I get Zapping Bolt (which seems amazing) over Zapp, and a version of Tesla Cage that does significant damage. Zapping Bolt looks better than several other Sent "snipes" given its one-second activation time, and, while Fire/ already has Blaze and Eng/ has Power Burst, Elec/ doesn't have a T3 blast, so ZB can fill that role. I don't know about any differences between the two ATs' version of VS. From my secondary I get resist shields (though I doubt their usefulness), mez protection (I do not doubt its usefulness), and +20% recharge. End-draining capacity seems intact, but I lose Build-Up and a second Hold. I also lose the punches, but having an Elec melee character already, I'm not particularly married to the blaps. I wonder whether, while other blast sets are weaker on Sentinel, Elec/ might actually be *stronger* on a Sentinel. Even if that isn't the case, surely Elec/ loses less than most. I'm happy to play an E3B, but the case for an E3S seems awfully compelling. From the Sentinel point of view, is there anything I'm overlooking?
