  1. Generally speaking, yes, but those powersets are heavily weighted towards Ranged powers with a handful of Melee powers thrown into the mix. Whereas this is more akin to Spines, Claws, and Kinetic Melee where it is predominantly a Melee with a few Ranged attacks.

  6. So, I had an idea that I'm sure many others have wanted: a hybrid melee/ranged powerset using a sword and pistol. This set would be primarily used by melee ATs (Scrappers, Brutes, Stalkers, Tanks) but also available as a Secondary for Dominators. The idea is that the melee sword strikes are light and quick, whereas the ranged pistol attacks are slower and heavier. Tier 1: Flick A quick flick across the eyes with the sword Single Target - Melee Damage: Light Recharge: Very Fast -Acc, -Def(All) Tier 2: Opening Shot Stand up straight and turn sideways, extend arm to take aim, and fire Single Target - Ranged Range: 30ft Damage: Moderate Recharge: Moderate -Acc, -Recharge Tier 3: Rake Duck and make a back-handed slash at belly-level in a wide arc Melee Cone Damage: High + Minor DoT Recharge: Moderate -Def(All), -Dmg, grants Audacity Tier 4: Flourish Perform a flourish with your sword, Recharge: Long +Dmg(Self), +Acc(Self), grants Audacity Tier 5: Riposte A quick thrust to the heart with the sword Single Target - Melee Damage: Moderate Recharge: Moderate -Def(All), +Def(Melee, Lethal)(Self), grants Audacity Tier 6: Point Blank Shot Same animation as Dual Pistol's Executioner's Shot Single Target - Melee Damage: Superior Recharge: Moderate Mag 2 Knockdown, Mag 2 Stun, requires Audacity Tier 7: Moulinet Spinning strike with sword coupled with a few shots from the pistol in a 360 arc PBAoE Damage: Moderate + Moderate DoT Recharge: Moderate -Def(All), -Dmg Tier 8: Gut Shot Elbow in close to the body, as if jamming the muzzle of the pistol into target's belly and firing Single Target - Close Damage: Moderate + High DoT Recharge: Slow Mag 4 Stun, -Regen, -Dmg, requires Audacity Tier 9: Execution Backhanded slash flowing into a heart thrust, withdraw sword and extend arm to fire pistol into target's face Single Target - Melee Damage: Extreme Recharge: Slow -Def(All), Mag 4 Knockdown, slow wind-up unless Audacity is active -------------------------------------------------------------------------- So this is my first attempt at actually creating a powerset, so please be gentle with feedback, haha. As far as the disabling powers, I wanted something practical and useful, whereas some melee debuffs inflict -Speed, which I guess is really only useful for chasing down runners, but otherwise pointless. What do you think?
  7. I see a lot of commentary about Gambler's Cut being better than Sting of the Wasp in every way, but nobody ever explains WHY it's better. Once you get past the lower levels where you need the extra attack, does it not make more sense to take the harder-hitting attack power?
  8. I would set up a Discord server to aid communication and hammer out specifics. That said, I'd like a group to play with regularly, perhaps a few hours, every other night, and a bit on weekends. We're working adults, so obviously I don't expect people to make this their life or job, but I -would- like this group to meet and play regularly. Especially since I'd like to have specific roles for people. On a small crew, every person is important. The pilot, the mechanic, the enforcer, everybody's got an important job on the ship, so I'd prefer this -not- be a group for an alt that'll get shelved after a few levels.
  9. So, I'm wanting to put together an RP VG themed around being space pirates. It's a general concept, yeah, but could be a fun one, I think, with the right crew. The feel I'm going for is sort of a Serenity/Firefly crew. I'd like to have specific roles for members as well, such as Captain, First Mate, Mechanic/Engineer, Pilot, etc. I would like to keep the crew small, as I don't want it to become one of those VGs that has a bunch of members who are never online. A small, tight-knit crew would be the goal here. I'd like to run regular things together in-game, including weekly TFs, powerleveling, farms, RP arcs in AE in the flavor of piratey stuff like treasure hunts and heists. Helps to be on Mountain Time in the US, as I'm in Arizona.
  10. So, I've looked around the forums and I can't find any Staff/Rad builds. Staff, in general, doesn't seem all that popular, but I've only heard good things from friends about it, so I'm wondering if it just it getting lost behind the popularity of OP sets like TW and Rad Melee. As such, I wanted to come here and ask the build gurus what would be a good lvl 50 build for Staff/Rad. Sky's the limit on expensive sets, let's go for the strongest possible.

  12. Fun fact: I don't actually know anything about end-game builds! Whee! As such, I have no idea what sets I should aim for. I don't know how to reach the Def cap. From Savage Melee, I have everything except Taunt and Hemorrhage, and I have everything from Rad Armor. I took Super Jump as my travel power. I have Tough (currently 3-slotted with Unbreakable Guard) and Weave (currently has EndRdx and LotG: +Recharge) For my Epic pool, I took Energy Mastery and have Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection, although I was thinking of taking Arctic Mastery to get Block of Ice, Shiver, and Ice Storm...more for thematic reasons. Any help from our resident build gurus would be greatly appreciated!
  13. After some more playtesting, I think it's just that TW isn't for me. It's too slow to activate and I don't enjoy the jarring slowdown in my rampage. I'd like to give Rad Armor another go, as I know it has the potential to be powerful, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. I'm thinking of trying out Psi Melee as my primary, as I've read good things about Psi/Rad. Or would you guys recommend another secondary to go with Psi? I wish Savage Melee's animations weren't so...animalistic. I love the mechanics of the set, but it's hard to make it work for a high-tech character concept lol
  14. Yeah, Defensive Sweep. It's the first attack power for TW and I have that. Much like DA, I use it as my opener, but since it's so slow to activate, by the time it fires and the buff applies (assuming I don't whiff), I've already taken a lot of hits. As for enemy groups, I find I've had the hardest time with Vahzilok, Circle of Thorns (when there are lots of ghosts), and Sky Raiders (I've had to keep Tazer Dart on my bar just to stop the Engineers from summoning the FFGenerators).
