As someone who does a lot of AOE melee, I get really annoyed at some knockback.  I was on a couple TFs, one, someone kept using gale and hurricane to break apart groups just as I was getting them together.  Highly annoying.

The other TF, someone was using gale and hurricane to put them in corners to make it easy for AOEs.  Nicely done.

Without resurrecting this age old debate, and staying on topic...Would you put someone on your in-game ignore list in your first example?

I've tried to find some way to set binds that would place a power in a slot on auto, regardless of what power was in that slot, and I've found nothing to suggest that's possible.

There are 2 commands, powexec_slot, which activates a power by slot, but doesn't set it to auto.  And there is powexec_auto, which requires the power_name, not the slot #.  I don't think this is possible

Another question I've been wondering about is the practical difference between binds and macros.

You nailed this.  Binds are tied to mouse/keyboard, and macros are clickable.  There are some nuances in how you can save them and reuse them that are also different, and I've also found somethings just don't work as a macro and they do as binds.

some kind of "interact" action that can be used by a keybind instead of by clicking.

I'm not sure this exists, however, unlike your first query, which I am 90% certain of, this one is more like 50%

if only devs would also fix the market so to reduce the income gap between those who play it and those who don;t (or is trading a more respected profession than farming?)

Let's look at the whole picture here.  Farming doesn't just earn Influence...you are also earning salvage, enhancements, and XP.  Marketeering doesn't earn anything, it just redistributes influence (and granted redistributes much of it into their own hands).  And these aren't separate professions...You can (and many do) farm and marketeer, so it's not like one activity negates the oppty to do the other.

If we really go down this path, then we need to reward the grinders, the badgers, the incarnates, etc...Because isn't playing Incarnate content more respected than farming?  Isn't collected badges more respected than marketeering?

Marketeering, farming, griding, badging, etc...These are activities, not occupations, and each gives their own reward as appropriate to the activity

The basic idea behind increasing INF, by turning off experience, was a form of compensation. How will players be compensated now when experience is switched off ?

This was my initial complaint about this change before I realized it was being used as an exploit.  I'm somewhat on the fence here, because we. as a community (not every individual, mind you), are OK with 2XP boosts, but we fret about the Influence boosts.  As someone who doesn't use extra XP boosts, and frequently turns off XP to not outlevel stuff, I'd like to see some reward to go the other way, for those of us who miss the slower leveling days of yore (a minority to be sure though).

I understand the impact of Influence inflation, and I'm not suggesting we go backwards here, but wondering how we (and maybe the question is IF we even need to) compensate those who aren't burning through XP as fast...

Not true, as has been said people spend like 20 minutes working the market a day and earn a billion a week in influence. However now if I farm 20 minutes a day I likely will barely break 200m, if someone spends time doing 1 TF a day they likely will earn maybe 20 or so million for that TF.

As one of the ebil marketeers on this thread, I want to say it takes a lot more than 20 minutes to make 1 billion influence.  And in fact nowhere as fast as 20 minutes for farming for 200 million.  You have to include the time to buy the converters, the recipes, the salvage, and the time to craft all of that into basic sets. Then the time that it takes to convert and then the time it takes to list all your enhancements on the market.  It probably takes me an hour to make 200 million.  Can others do it faster?  No doubt, but not at 20 minutes for 1 billion.

    1. I'm downloading the game now, but it's moving REALLY slow. Is this normal, and how long does it usually take?

Mine took several hours (like 5) to initially download on one machine, and then my laptop took an hour.

Are there certain days of the week /times of day the servers are busier than others?

    3. Is there anything that differentiates the two regular (non-rp or EU) servers?

The servers are almost never too busy where you see performance issues.  So come one in,  the water is nice.  If you want to team alot, then evenings are good and weekends better.

There are 5 servers.  The everlasting Server is home to a significant Role Play population, and Indomitable has more PvPer's, but you can find some roleplay and pvp on all the servers. Reunion server is for the European Union, but open to everybody.

Do people still run super teams? For example, back in the day, my friends and I all made Radiation Defenders, and would run in teams of 8. We melted anything and everything that got infront of us, and discovered that it was a great way to level toons QUICKLY.

    Yes

How are the servers maintained? Is there no membership cost?

All free, now and forever. They do take up donations one day a month (last Saturday of the month) to cover the maintenance costs, but that is up to you to participate and how much.

Does the game play much differently than it did before?

Not substantially no. It looks and feels like city of heroes that you remember. But there are some improvements:  all content can be played solo, there is a new AT, a couple new missions, new power sets, and other improvements that you can see under the patch notes on the website.

Forgot to say the most important thing, “welcome home. “

That's not to say they must. Or that they're of inferior character if they don't. It's to say if you want to play well, you're kidding yourself if you think you are without making the most of your opportunities.

This is really well said, and I can get on board with it.  However, there is a bit of a process to go through with Min/Maxing, and the process requires domain knowledge, time and tools.  So for many casual players, the playstyle is "playing well enough".  And if some choices are easier to digest, despite being sub-optimal, then they are good choices, and the trade off is fair.

This of course is my opinion, and i am not suggesting it is fact.  Feel free to disagree

Arrow succeeded I think because Stephen Amell connected and continues to connect with the fans.

I agree that Stephem Amell was an amazing choice, and that he brought a lot of comic book passion to the project.  I think that's also what helped it succeed - it was really willing to pay homage to it's comic roots without falling into the trap of either trying to move everything from the comics directly to the screen, but also not just grabbing a name for a name's sake.  Except for Jean Loring.  Not sure why they used her name in the show given the baggage the name carries.

    Trust me

This is the internet.  I wouldn't trust my own mom if she posted it on the internet...

Just so I am clear, a small subset of farmers lost an exploit that netted them extra influence, and in order to make up for that loss they are going to buy influence in the Real World?  And a small % of that small subset are going to bog down Developer time policing it?  And a smaller portion of those that get caught are going to lose all the influence they just bought (because when they get caught, they don't keep the influence, and they don't get their money back), but then are going to go out and create a new account and buy even more than they bought the first time they got banned?  And of those few, it's going to be so much influence that it upsets the economy.  That's a lot of if's for a small group of people.  I say the risk is super small...

I think you are over thinking this...trust me...

This is a very simple one map mission full of custom mobs with one unique feature: all of the author-defined text, including mission dialogs, mob descriptions, and everything else are entirely in Latin.  The CoH cstume creator makes astoundingly good fauns and satyrs.

For consistency's sake, the whole game interface needs to be translated into Latin.  If somebody is going to get on the stick on that, I will help.

You're missing the point. It's not in a chat window; it's the message that flashes across the middle of your screen, unconnected to anything that appears in a chat tab.

Sorry @srmalloyand @Chalkarts, I get it now.  To my knowledge there is no way to turn off the the messages that appear in the main window unless they are prompts with an interactive window.

Hello all! I hope you're having a fantastic day.

I was hoping to have people's opinions/advice on costumes.

When making characters, I make a costume that fits that character, but I often run into issues coming up with alternative costume ideas, or reasons to switch to these alternate costumes.

My character is currently level 35, and I have done the lvl 20 and 30 tailor missions for additional outfit slots, but... What kind of costume should I make with all these outfit slots? I'm just running the original costume slot right now.

Please offer me some advice/opinions on what types of costumes to make. I seem to have missed the day they were handing out creative genes...

    Thank you!

I struggle with creativity every single day.  I feel like I too missed out on those genes.

As for alt slots, some ideas are secret ID, civilian attire for day jobs, specialized suits for fighting in sewers, shadowshard, etc, costume variant (think Batman with the black bat on his chest, and then it was framed in a yellow oval).

My 2 cents from an already creatively deprived hero!

  13. That's the reward channel in chat.  Right click the chat tab that you see the message in.  On the pop-up window, select "Reward" on the left side, and then click "Remove" (top middle button).  Click OK.  Repeat as needed for any tabs that have it.

I really would like to see this whole mess fixed right once and for all. From what I've been reading in these forums, the whole community is divided now on the subject of nerfing influence.  I myself have hardly logged any game time since the patch release, instead I sit in the forums looking, waiting for answers. Where are we headed? How can we fix this so everyone can have fun again?   Putting bicycle tires on a Ferrari will slow it down, but then all you end up with is a fancy looking Prius.

    What's your suggestion?

FWIW, I don't think the whole community is now, or even been fully represented by these boards.  40+ pages of posts doesn't mean everyone is posting, but rather I wager, a few people posting quite a bit.  It has clearly irritated some people.  Others are just fine with it.  However, I strongly doubt that this has impacted anyone's fun to the degree that they aren't going to play anymore.  I hope it hasn't had that effect on you...

BTW - I'd take a fancy looking Prius over my car anyday...I'd modify my Ferrari for bicycle tires, but, alas, it's only a Matchbox Ferrari.
