  1. I think so many people have no clue it existed BECAUSE they used macros to convert to a specific TYPE rather than upgrading and never looked at the menu. I'm not saying 2 peoples testimony is law, I'm saying it means there needs to be further investigation and they can't just be written off as wrong. and no, me and the other person in that chat both agree on the key element, we both agree that merging inspirations to the next highest tier was possible and was a feature that was taken out sometime between launch and sunset. He seems to believe it was a feature at the time of Issue 0, I was not around at issue 0 so I have no way to argue, I just have to take his word for it. I was however around in 2006 for whatever issue that was (I forget), Heroes and villains and in that time I also experienced the same effect he is proposing was available earlier. so this is 2 accounts of the same thing. so this is a situation where we need more investigation to know who is right or wrong. I have asked for help, not from the former devs, but from a trustworthy CoX historian. I too will be searching for any reference to the game prior to freedom.. we will unover the answer, even if I have to wade through customer service to try to leave a message and hope positron replies.
  2. actually it is, that's a second account a second witness. it's valid proof in scientific and legal fields. if more than one person can have the same finding or remember the same thing then there's needs to be more investigation into the topic and it cannot simply be dismissed as untrue. you need a witness testimony which can clarify the situation after that point to prove or disprove a prior witness testimony. want to settle this, ask the former devs, they will know. they will confirm it. it stopped being an option around the time of Freedom. sadly no records or wikis on inspiration use can be found from pre-freedom. even titan network's paragon wiki's earliest record on the subject is 2010. I would like earlier records if titan has them, but I don't hold out for it. I know it was a fact. I did it, just because others didn't notice doesn't mean it was never an option. I'm talking 2006 here. I joined when it was heroes and villains special DVD release. the one that came with the pocket D VIP card, which I still have, and the map of paragon city, which I also still have. some of these things also have no record on the internet any more but it doesn't mean they aren't real or weren't real. I guess many people just never really cared to look very hard at the conversion menu. not my fault it could have benefited alot of PvPers and they didn't notice it. also, it's not the kinda thing you could do in the middle of a battle it takes time you'd literally have to set it up ahead of time, which is no different than going to the shops and filling up ahead of time. it's also complicated, you could not do a full table of highest insps without emailing stuff back and forth because you'd run out of slots to convert things in. so that voids that concern. in the time it takes you to convert 2 inspirations to a higher tier, you can be dead in pvp, dead before you can even activate them. thats why it was allowed and was a feature.
  3. it was not widely used, not many people actually cared it was there. as such the titan network crew never covered the topic in thier wiki, but multiple players remember it: we lived it, we experienced it. most of us who used it often were kinda putoff when they removed it.
  4. thats why you can only hold so many insps, and they are time limited (unlike your build, hence insps are extra). the fact is, every player will have the same ability and access to teiring up their insps so it really doesn;t matter. unless you are Nemesis and don't want players to bash through the critters easily. but, then why not get rid of insps all together? (not suggested for any player to attempt to ask for that, too much backlash, besides we all like insps). besides this is why in arenas you can lock off temp powers and insps. because in PvP areas you cannot. set bonuses are permanent, insps wear off in minutes and need to be reobtained to activate again. everyone will have equal ability to make these insps. so no one will lose out unless they don't prepare. it will increase the cost in AH because of PvP as well. everyone will want a quick refill while people are still in zone. Might I also add, that before Freedom, this was the case and people lived and liked it.
  5. first off, inspirations are just extra, typically your build is what matters in PvP and PvE, besides the fact, if this is implemented, everyone will have equal access and ability to the same ability to do this so it will even out. If you are worried about AH prices, don't be, even while this feature was active pre-freedom insps could sell for upwards of 100,000 in the AH. simply because it was quick and convenient for stuff like STFs when you need a bunch of max purples to help tank recluse and you are just about to enter the last mission and forgot them or had to use them ahead of time. people often bought them for speedruns, masters badges, and right before RTR and Hami (accuracy, damage, self res etc.). so there /WILL/ be a continued market. the point is it makes it equally as easy for all players across the board, so there is really no impact on players in our current free server. right before hami and RTR you'd find the AH sold out of most insps. you could make amazing last second price gouging sales for like 1 mil a piece right before the event. also remember a tier 3 would cost 9x a tier 1 to make yourself. that's sufficient. theoretically a tier 4 would cost 27x a tier 1, the price balloons.
  6. OK, Hi Devs, you may or may not know about this topic from the discord chat, I have brought it up twice and am no longer the only one who remembers it. It was a feature in COX which was taken out during the CoX freedom release. it allowed any player to merge 3 of the same color same tier inspiration into the same color inspiration of the next higher tier. It was removed from the game prior to the paragon shop and prior to Super inspirations. as we are no longer a shop profit based game it would stand to reason there is no reason not to re-include this feature (even upto super if possible). the code function responsible would most likely be either commented or removed entirely in the source code, who knows they may have left a reason in comments. So I am hereby making a request for the revival of this pre-Freedom feature. currently the feature has been replaced with a grayed out selection for the same level and same type of inspiration. in example if you combine 3 luck, there will be a greyed out selection to combine to "luck" formerly before city of heroes freedom, it would not have been greyed out and would not have been for "luck" but rather "Good Luck", if combining 3 "Good Luck" you could select "Phenomenal Luck". this is as high as it went in the live game pre-freedom. The feature did not work at all /ever/ on special inspirations such as ambrosia, essence of the earth, strength of will, present etc. as they have no higher tier form. restrictions, players can only combine to the next highest tier of the same color/type. (otherwise the conversion menu would be too long). Fix: in the code for the inspiration combination menu, there should be something like "send message to server : exchange [3, tier, type, grant: type, tier]" and there should be one of these which does not match "Display insp [type, tier]" I have no idea how it's listed in the code, but one of the listings will be different than the others, from there you should be able to copy one of the other listings in the menu and do [tier+1, type] instead of [tier, type]. as well as the subsequent server response and player inventory database changes. It sounds very simple when I say it, but finding it in the client and or server code may be a much harder job. and changing it may be no walk in the park like I propose. If you feel uninterested making changes but know where it might be in the code, let me know and I can attempt to propose changes. if you have no idea where it will be I can search for it (theres alot of potential hiding places in the code, hopefully they left a comment named "insp" to mark it at least) again, I am below novice in C languages, it all looks like a big page of definitions to me with no actions. so I would appreciate help on this. please!. if you would take your time to do this, I would really appreciate it! it's going to be faster and better in your hands anyways!
  7. Another Idea!: SG Base Exteriors! where SG leaders or members with the privilege can modify an exterior building to suit towards their SG's tastes, complete with stuff like exterior protections such as forcefields and turrets etc. as the players desire and can afford. These buildings should exist in their own SG map much as the bases already do. and can stand as an additional protection against raids.
  8. I am no expert on the subject, and we can only go on what they have said already, and what they have said is indeed as you point out. So we will have to assume they will never charge anything as stated. I just assumed they were talking about game subscription and possible shop items(micropay), when they mentioned "never charge for anything" as in players can get all content without paying. I suppose one way to do it would be models and such could be supplied for free, and have them listed in a thread with donation links (for if people feel like it's really worth it) so people can donate what they feel it's worth. Maybe with some total cap set by the devs and/or agreed to by sub-devs (I'm thinking different max donations for different things, non-rigged things per poly are cheaper than rigged per poly, textures alone are cheaper than models (varying based on complexity) in example. but yeah, if it comes down to completely volunteering, I might supply some things as I'm inspired to do so. for that we should have a requests thread and a fulfillment thread I guess.
  9. yeah , I figured as much. thanks for the note of the thread, I added my stuff in there. I'm really interested in making new content. new content would be possible to separate out from the main game. while they can;t charge for the main game or get a patreon for it or whathaveyou. They can charge for player made stuffs as such assets are not under any license they don't own. but they'd have to make it clear legally to NCSoft and any respective authority circles in various governments that the content they charge for is entirely fan made. As stated, I'm interested in making monsters, scenery and textures, maybe some costume pieces on request. in example, I've gotten pretty good at it: naturally it's a bit high on memory but I can make a lower poly version somewhere around 30 polygons.
  10. I do realize this is a wonderful restoration of our game by a devoted fan community and that we are not completely legitimate yet (no official ok from NCSoft). Thank you for your hard efforts on all grounds! I want to ask, if or when we do get to be legitimate, will there be open positions in the development area? (for new models, textures etc.) I probably have no chance at getting such a position if it's available but a guy can hope and ask. I'm more than happy to model other peoples requests, and would like to do it full time (yes, that means I'd need to have earnings cause I'm poor lol). However all that aside, is this sort of position foreseen as something that might be available at some point if we get legitimate? I fully understand if it would be a fan supplied "free assets" situation instead, or if no new assets will be used at all. Just thought I'd ask.
  11. most existing powersets are somewhat balanced, but if I had the raw numbers and battle calcs i might be able to suggest some fine-tuning. updating old content? I like the old content, we can have new content as well. Enhancements: you may think they are useless but you'd be arguing a point that others would disagree with. TO's when you first start a toon, you are likely to have no inf to put into it, to be honest it'd be an expensive task to pay the upkeep cost of it as it levels. also keep in mind there are no sets at such levels. anytime below level 10 TO's are the difference between being good and being great. DO's are less expensive than SOs and for a toon below level 20 DO's are going to be the most cost effective thing to upgrade every 3 levels as, even in most content these levels go fast. you wouldn't want to dish out for SOs every 3 levels till you can earn enough to slot everything with it, that monitary ability comes a bit later. SO's, do remember that while IOs are available at most levels, making, buying or even collecting the things to craft them and the inf necessary is kinda rough. the average price at Lv 20 to LV30 when they will make the most difference is about 30k each. you might think that having it stable and not decreasing with level makes the difference, but you also need to factor in that the enhancement value increases with the level of the enhancement. so slotting Lv20s is just not gonna cut it at 25 and Lv20s is gonna be like wearing paper armor at 30, while that may be a valid function at a comic convention, yeah you will need to buy more IOs and replace them every few levels anyways. at this point every 3 levels you should be able to slot a full selection of +3 SOs which can make or break. around 30+ I start doing IOs that's where I can start affording them and also where their enhancement rates start being whats necessary to deal with the foes at any significant difficulty. around 40 I suggest starting with sets and a good build. In summary each type of enhancement was designed with a specific mission difficulty and level in mind. they are all necessary. and by the way, they can help you afford those nifty sets. when you no longer need something sell it in WW/BM quick sale style for 1 inf each, you will get more than that most of the time. In fact you'll get more than the store price in most cases. Anything that you have that there are 0 bids for, just take it to an origin store and sell it, sell everything you don't need after every few missions or arc or whenever you fill up. if all the enhancements were awesome, no one would ever want to sell them. Zones, graphics upgrades could be possible, new contacts might be good, but completely recreating a zone might not be the best. the zones are rather themed. but yes new themed zones are always fun.
  12. more: I'm remembering all the good ones; I remember people have also requested: 1: an underwater zone. 2: a Turok hidden valley/sir arthur connan doyle's the lost world style "hot spot" zone where dinosaurs are still alive and in abundance and various formerly human mutated monstrosities roam free. (maybe accessible through oranbega?) and lets not forget the reanimated dinosaur bones trope.
  13. I couldn't agree more! one thing I was thinking was there'd have to be elemental considerations for some summons, dragon for instance can be ice/water, fire, air/storm, earth/steel, and dark(element buttons pop up when summon is clicked before the summon location is chosen). I think the benefits of [Dragon] should be that it's a pet that can withstand AV damage when buffed and enhanced and so long as you keep healing it, it should have a natively high Res[85% to all, except lethal[75%], this pet only] and Def [90% all] extreme HP [5000?] for itself, maybe it's slow but has [flight], [extreme element AOE] (though only fires once every few minutes (uses claws and bite[high Lethal], tail whip [high smashing] at other times)) should also consider it should have a chance to Confuse in [cone] (looking into a dragon's eyes an lead to being enchanted). [summon recharge: Very Long, 20 minutes+?] Benefits of element attack after initial AoE: Fire: High DoT Ice/Water: Low DoT, High Hold Air/Storm/electric: High Stun, -to hit, -end(sapper) Earth/Steel: moderate earth hold + moderate stun. Dark: -to hit, -regen Skins should include chinese dragon and medieval style dragon skins. [Basilisk] weak to damage of any type[no self protections low HP], but especially weak to other pets (even when buffed other pets 1-shot it). Extreme damage DoT to anything it touches and anything that touches it's trail till killed DoT and trail linger after defeat for x time (30 seconds?)(more like a trap than a pet). [Pheonix] should be a summon that auto re-summons itself after X time of defeat. can fly, [high fire damage] with DoT, can be told to resurrect anything even other pets (then it dies and will need to be resummoned by the player) moderate HP.
  14. You really want this? fine, I could give you a wide and extensive list of things I'd like to see "to come" Pet customization. (pet designer) Mythical creatures mastermind set, with [Summon Dragon] as one of the big final power choices and [Basilisk] somewhere in there pet with -Regen + Pure Toxic DoT [Extreme?] + Hold. Weapon Customization (Weapon builder) Weapon graphics allowed in non-weapon sets. Custom firing points for ranged attacks, (so you can shoot fire from a sword or your mouth, (or even your bum) rather than your fists for example) Player AE TF/SF higher AE rewards but required to finish x number of missions at a set diff. Player Zone Maps (Origin place map, maps related to player specific stories, not necessarily in Paragon or such.), like SG builder but to build own maps (indoor and outdoor) can be in AE and or allow each player to have their own actual zone that can be accessed with permission etc.
  15. Leandro and codewalker rock, if they are not the same person. I'm not really bothered by him having kept this secret as long as he did. after all we did have to wait and see how NCSoft would react to Paragon Chat didn't we? in the end the reaction was a lack of any reaction which means that NCSoft pretty much doesn't want to bother with it. For that I even Salute them, if they are willing to let us do what we please so long as we don't bother them, then great!
