  1. This is a really weird thread.

Sure. Someone who never fires a shot in a PUG is a little weird, but that's the most extreme case. The line "there's no holy trinity" gets thrown out there to disguise another prejudice, THERE IS ONLY EVER DPS. There is only ever "are you maximally contributing to the speed things die without getting yourself or us dead."

Play whatever you want, especially if you're having fun. Only a jerk will kick you from a team or criticize you for playing a certain build.

However, at the same time, don't get upset by other people's opinions. I personally think tanks and empaths are relatively useless compared to other AT's and power sets, especially in level 50 content. If I had may way, every team would be made up of a /fire Brute and 7 Corruptor's, but I realize everyone's idea of fun is different.

I regularly run a bunch of level 50 task forces throughout the week and usually need to fill in a couple spots. People frequently ask me what to bring and I always reply, "whatever you want." I've had stone tanks join my speedy TF's and while it's something I would never play, it's completely fine if that's what they enjoy playing.

  2. Statesman/Ms. Liberty - 23:04

I call hax. Aeon's cutscene is at least twice that long.

It's unbearably long. That's when the team tends to grab a drink, take a bathroom break, make a sandwich or read an entire Dostoevsky novel.

  3. Exactly - the amount of builds I see who still need to depend on purples is kind of ridiculous. Turning them off and being capped makes life way easier.

It really all depends on what you're sacrificing to get that defense. I'd take recharge and damage procs in a farming build over anything else.

  4. Think the key there is "trio". I had synapse down solo on live to about 1:20 no Babs. Haven't gotten it back down to that, but then again i've only run it once since invader is so much easier than TF commander now and merits aren't at such a premium. If you have two pimped out people with it memorized dragging a third I could see 30-45.

I've only done Synapse once since coming back, but I don't remember how fast it was completed. It was done while leveling a character, so definitely not optimal for speed.

Here's another quick TF we did last night, ITF in 12:09.

  5. I decided I would start this thread for people to post their best speed task force times. Below is a list of recorded times so far, I will update this post with the latest times, along with the global/forum name of the person who submitted the time. Please don't hesitate to PM me if I miss a post.

  6. I've seen a lot of people asking for farm builds, which I posted one in another thread. This is a Fiery Enforcer approved farming build, so I figured I would put it here alongside my regular PvE build.

  7. I would do something like this for a pure farming build. It has perma hasten with +133.8% global recharge.  You really don't need to build for fire defense, that's more of a luxury than anything else. Surviving isn't an issue on my low fire defense, general purpose SS/Fire that I also use for farming.

Your priority is to put out as much AoE damage as possible, that's why I find the lack of damage procs in these builds to be a crime. I've put double procs in almost every AoE power, you definitely want that Armageddon in Foot Stomp. Inspiration macros should keep you close to the damage cap or at least over 500%.

  8. I concur, Fiery Embrace is a must have power. Seriously, don't skip it.

Not only does it add a damage bonus to all of your fire based attacks, it adds a fire damage component to every other attack. Think of it as a 100% chance of fire damage proc while that portion is active. It's even better since the added fire damage works off of the damage bonus of the attack.

It really shines when you have a kin on your team since it doesn't become useless after you reach the damage cap.

  9. Maybe, maybe not.  I saw a couple players say that their max budget Rad/Fire significantly outperformed their max budget SS/Fire.  Again, I don't have the personal experience to judge.

Sounds like one of their builds is more optimal than the other.  I went on test server, put my best builds side by side.  Both with perma hasten and a constant attack chain of AOE goodness.  No inspirations and on the same map 5 runs each.  My worst time with SS was better than my best time with Rad.  Not saying Rad is bad, for the vast majority of the game it is better.  But you simply cannot beat double rage being perma and adding to every attack. +160% for 50 out of 60 seconds is simply better than +50% every 10 out of 25 seconds even when that other 10 out of 60 seconds is time doing no damage.

I would like to test this out and now that you mention it, the test server is the perfect place. Has anyone tried using Hero Stats? It didn't work for me when I tried, but I didn't do any troubleshooting.

As far as SS/Fire goes, I personally don't double stack Rage and back on live I didn't even use Rage at all. 10 seconds of no damage really hurts your DPS. You should be munching on red inspirations and converting everything that drops to them.

The 15' radius on Foot Stomp is the differentiator. It's really good and the FF +rech proc goes off almost every time if you're hitting the target cap.

  10. Honestly, there's not another secondary that can compete with /Fire. The added damage from Blazing Aura, Burn and Fiery Embrace makes the set.

Super Strength is still a really good primary for farming. Foot Stomp with the FF proc is just that good.

  11. This is my SS/Fire build for everything PvE, it's mainly built for recharge and S/L defense. It puts out great ST and AoE damage and is good for TF's, farming, incarnate trials and everything else.

  12. Spines/Fire should be a fine general purpose PvE build. ST damage may be lacking, but you can grab Gloom from Soul Mastery to help with that.  Although, since it's been so long since I've played, I'm not sure how much of an issue redraw will be.

  13. The great thing about this game is you don't need any specific build to play the vast majority of the content. Except Corruptors, you should always bring a Corruptor. Your entire team should be all Corruptors for that matter.

Seriously though, I have the same feeling about Tanks. People would always ask for a Tank back in the day. I would laugh and bring a Permadom instead.
