  1. Thank you all for clearing this up for me. I now have 5x Global Recharge LotG slotted throughout 5 powers, and I'm seeing the 37.5% recharge.
  2. Ohhhhh... for some reason, (I'm stupid?), I thought that I could only have one of the LotG that specifically says "Global." Ok, time to putter around a bit more. Thank you all very much.
  3. I only show 7.5% Global recharge whether I only have the Global LotG, or that and other LotGs. If I slot just the Global one I show 7.5%... if I slot 5x other than the one that specifically says "Global," but not that specific one, Combat Attributes doesn't show any recharge. The power timer that I have set to count down each power, on Footstomp for example, starts counting down from 13 seconds... the detailed info shows 14 seconds... so there's no additional recharge happening. Maybe these are bugged on test?
  4. Hello, folks, So, I've been dinking around on the test server, (which as an aside has helped me tremendously by taking various build/concepts to insta-Lv 50, running a few normal, not farm, AE missions, and just seeing if I find them to be enjoyable and worth pursuing or not... I've found some to not play out as fun in actual gameplay as in my head, and some I wasn't sure of, that turned out to be more enjoyable than I had expected), and I just don't understand LotG. I've put 5x recharge ones into Def powers, (always being sure to use the Global one and I understand the Law of 5). I've put 4 or 5, all in one power, spread out over multiple powers, and everything in between. When I then check the recharge times on attacks there is NO change. WTFudge? Under Combat Attributes I see Global recharge of 7.5%, but as mentioned, unlike when putting a recharge enhancement into an attack power... which does reflect the new recharge time... the times don't change in the detailed info of the attack. Even the Global one by itself shows no change to attack recharge times. Also, I thought the recharge was "perma," and that the power, i.e. Hover, didn't have to be turned on? I've put some into "auto" Def powers, such as Tough Hide, but those aren't being reflected in either Combat Attributes or detailed info on the attack itself. What am I missing? Thank you for your time and help.
  5. Scuse me, pardon me. Pardon me, scuse me. No, please, you go ahead. I wouldn't think of it, you can go. Oh, allow me. Why thank you, you're most kind. On and on, lol.
  6. Funny, actually at the lower levels, I've been doing the opposite by shoring up the weaknesses. Been building for dmg first on Tanker, and defenses first on Scrappers, lol.
  7. You really lack reading comprehension skills. I simply asked if what I was told was true, nothing more, nothing less. I expressly said, TWICE now, that it didn't really make any difference to me one way or the other... other than maybe I wouldn't bother kitting out a team build. I said I mostly solo. I said true or not doesn't dissuade me from playing this character, and more specifically, building it for my enjoyment. Not having any experience with something rather precludes the ability to analyze and critically think about something. You want to discuss builds, classes, gear, skills, and endgame in Elder Scrolls Online... you want to posit a theory, have me break it down, critically analyze it, and support or deny your assertion? Bring it... I've played, still do, that game for years, since it's Beta actually. I have 8x Max, (CP 810) characters, all crafting professions maxed, all content, including raids at Vet levels completed, and more money than I know what to do with. I know enough to speak intelligently about that game, break apart, analyze, and critically think about anything you could say, posit as fact, or ask about it. Here... I don’t know enough to critically analyze on my own... so I'm forced to gather opinions/facts from those who do... THEN form my own opinion.
  8. Uh... am I not doing exactly that? Asking other opinions? He never said, nor did I say that he said, to play something else. Who is he? All I'll say is that he's a Lv 50, fully incarnated Brute who gave me some power leveling, and then offered me 100,000,000 Inf, (which I did NOT accept... Yomo's 20 mil Inf gift was enough), because he was at the Inf cap, and needed to get rid of some. A) I'd say someone like that probably has enough game experience to know something. B) Again, he never tried to dissuade me from playing a Tank, just said that in today's endgame world, they aren't needed, or particularly desirable because other ATs outperform them in damage, and damage is king. B.2) Many here have agreed that NO AT is really needed at the maxed out level... some saying Tankers are more situational, (probably true of many/all ATs) B.3) I've read the "damage is king in this game" many, many times, so I suspect there's some truth there. Between A) - B.3) above, there was the ring of truth to what he said. Because I do use critical thinking skills, I came here seeking more opinions. As I said in my OP, even if 100% true, I'd still play my INV/SS Tanker alot, and I'll spec him with Hurl and Laser eyes, (usually regarded as pointless and a waste of a power pick... choose one or the other, not both, so the build advice goes), because that will be fun for me... I just won't go to the expense of kitting out a separate "team build,"
  9. Actually, when grouping, I'm very much a healer/Support/CC player in MMOs, as well as my weekly PnP D&D game, lol. My favorite grouping characters are a Rad/Rad Defender and Mind/Emp-Rad-FF Controller... putting a gun to my head... Rad/Rad Defender taking top slot, both from an efficacy and visual/animation standpoint.
  10. Ok, ket me rephrase, because I do believe no class, in any game should be necessary per se, and hold up a group. Actually, and specifically, the person said, "...not wanted because they don't bring anything to the table that other ATs don't do better..." I'll still play, and thoroughly enjoy him... just curious if he'd ever be needed/wanted in an endgame group.
  11. Hello, my super brothers & sisters. I'm posting this question here rather than in the Tankers section because I believe it will garner more answers since often people who don't play an archetype may never view their section... I never ever check the MM section for example as I've never, not since joining EQ1 in '98, ever enjoyed pet classes, lol. Someone told me, since I have one, that leveling a Tanker, (my favorite is my INV/SS), is pointless if I ever have interest in "endgame group" content. I'd be better off with a Brute, which I also have, or Scrapper, which I have so many of, they're coming out of my ears, lol. I'm not really, 100% sure that I care beyond academic curiosity as I'm more of a solo player... but I'd certainly like to have the option, and be a contributing, (not leeching), member of such a group. I do most definitely enjoy the camaraderie and teamwork when I have the time to focus on the game and indulge. So... Tanker, (specifically if it matters, INV/SS), useless and unwanted in the endgame? If so, on the brightside, I wouldn't have to worry about the enhancement expense of having my fun to me, concept, not optimized solo build, AND an optimized for grouping build, (I believe in play/gear etc as you like when it's just YOU... but I personally feel obligated to play/gear for what's best for the group when playing in a group). Thanks for your time and advice on this. Take care, Sheer Force, INV/SS Tanker, and NoOb Extraordinaire
  12. Hello, folks. This post is both for conversation and advice. Similar in scope to the post by @Snarky "Soloing Blueside," I'm just kind of expanding on his post a bit... if you had to pick one character/Arch/powerset to solo Blue, or Red, or Gold, (I don't even know what Gold side is but see references to it, lol), what would it be? Not twinked beyond SOs, IOs starting at lv 22, but not fancy, named ones... in other words, sorta gimp yourself, don't make yourself god like... yet... lol. Hitting every contact, every story, cutting off XP where necessary, etc. Using Snarky's Notoriety settings at +0 x1. This isn't necessarily about the Meta, or "best," though it certainly can be... but it's also about which you think would be the most enjoyable ride to 50... which is of course subjective as everyone's idea of fun/enjoyable differs... which is why I think that this thread could be fun. I ask because I'd like to try this on a character, and I'd like to hear some opinions on this. Maybe some... many... of you have done this, maybe multiple times. So far I've leveled mostly with Radio missions and a mix of story missions... but I'd like to try doing all story missions. Thanks for playing, lol.
  13. Sorry, for misleading statements. No, I didn't 6 slot defenses yet, only 3 slotted them with DMG RES, though only 1x END REDUC in Invincibility. Assuming ED is still a thing, 3 slots of any one single type of enhancement is "fully slotted" from an effectiveness standpoint. The attacks, as of my OP are 3 and 4 slotted. My current notoriety settings have me at groups of 3, either white or yellow, and either yellow or orange Lieutenants, and a fake LT/Boss. Now that I know you can have 2x specs at my level I plan to build out a group friendly spec too... though I've recently heard that there's no need/use for Tankers in the end game :( This is really helpful info, and I very much appreciate you taking the time to write it up.
  14. Thank you, that's good to know... I'll pay more attention on the stories now, and other solo merit options.
  15. I'm not swimming in inf, but I do have your 20mil inf gift, (again a hearty thank you). However, that's being reserved for use by my two favorite characters; Mind/Psi Dom and Arch/Bio Sent. My other characters are on their own, lol.
  16. Thank you all for the advice so far. Merits probably aren't an option. It's my understanding that they come from various group content... which I don't do. I'm strictly a solo player. I don't often have time for a group, I chat with my wife or watch TV while I play, so I'm not always focused on the game, and I want the option to just quit playing, or just stop for a few minutes, whenever I feel like it, rather than having to wait until X group event is finished. That's why I'm asking about slotting options using either SO, or regular ol' cheaper, no name IO, (probably wait for kv 30 IO when they are equal to SO percentages). Once I get those I can just save all my money from that point onward for the fancy named stuff at 50, (or 47). I think I like the 2x ACC, 2x DMG, 2x END REDUC in atracks for both Brute and Tanker. The 3rd DMG may be negligible for a Brute, and considering my Tanker takes WAAAAAYYYY longer, and WAAAAYYYY more endurance to kill something, 2x END REDUC is probably good for him too. Again, this advice is very helpful.
  17. Hello, folks, Before one can afford, or wants to invest in, fancy two and three stat buffing enhancements, or named sets... just using either SO or regular IO enhancements while leveling... is there common, generalized advice? For example, currently on my INV/SS Tanker & SS/INV Brute, (both only 17), my slotting is 3x dmg resist in each of my INV powers, and 2x ACC & 1x DMG in their attacks. Next I was planning to invest an End Reduc in each toggle, then start adding slots to my attacks. My plan for attacks, (pretty much all my characters' attacks), is 2x ACC, 3x DMG, 1x END REDUC. Another option I've seen bandied about for attacks in general: 1x ACC, 3x DMG, 1x RECH, 1x END REDUC. Kinda splitting hairs I guess, but there isn't a lot of leveling advice out there, it's mostly end game, fancy, expensive builds, lol. I plan to get there at some point, but in the meantime I could use some interim advice. Thank you for your time and advice.
  18. Oh, also, I get the zero to hero thing. Like many of you, I've played a metric bleep ton of MMOs, so I'm ok with only being a step above normal humans. My point was more, effectiveness aside, just punching/kicking things doesn't feel like super powers to me, that's all I meant, and why the more melee oriented classes just don't really feel super hero'y to me. I still play them, (Scrappers, Tankers, & Blasters), I like them enough that they got an individual paragraph... I just like Sents & Doms most.
  19. Thank you all for the very helpful replies. Love hearing that I can indeed have both a solo/theme build, and a group friendly one... apparently both are separately slotted, but at least there's the option. I rolled a Savage Melee/Energy Armor Scrapper. He's only Lv 8, so no recharge bonus from Entropic Aura yet, but due to animation times, with 4 attacks, there's no waiting on refreshing... so he's fun so far. Just great... like I needed another alt, lol. Having benefitted from Yomo's 20mil inf give away, and really wanting my Superman/Hyperion/Sentry Tanker, I invested in Lv 15 SOs into my INV/SS Tanker, and he is performing CONSIDERABLY better. Still takes 18 yrs, 4 months, 27 days, 13 hrs, and 36 minutes to kill a group of 3x Yellows though... but with 2x SO ACC in each attack and 1x DMG, he doesn't miss nearly as often, lol. I've also put 3x dmg res in each of the INV powers I have, so even though my son, currently a Freshman in college, will be through graduate school before a pack dies... my Tanker is still at 90%+ HP. So, onwards and upwards... EXCELSIOR !!
  20. Hello, folks. DISCLAIMER: A rather long post meant to be a conversation piece. Just wanted to share some thoughts on this nOoB's opinion on classes and powersets at sub level 20. I know, I know... as in many, (all?), MMOs, you can't fairly judge these things at such a low level. Clases, powers, skills... a rose by any other name... do not really come into their own, or shine/bloom, so early... but I'm going to opine anyway, cause I'm a rebel, lol. To in part understand my opinions, you need a bit of background into the type of player I am. I'm not a min/maxer, I research builds, classes, powers/skills, gear etc, so as to not gimp myself, not to be the best that I can be. I'm strictly a PvE player. I'm mostly solo due to time constraints, and frankly, don't always want the time commitment of a group. Also, unless the game allows multi specs, my class/power/gear selections tend to be selfish, based largely around how they look, or fit my concepts/themes... and often that's not conducive to being a good teammate. If I can multi spec in a game, I always have a group friendly spec a button press away... sadly, as far as I know, CoX doesn't offer that. Respec, yes, but that's not the same thing. I don't play to challenge myself, I play to relieve stress, suspend reality, and giggle maniacally as I send a mob flying off a building/bridge/cliff, lol. My game/mission settings are at the lowest setting, (I think), -1, no Boss level mobs. They have a Boss name, and powers, but are ranked as Lieutenants. I'm not really into the whole math centric portion of this game; DPE this, DPA that, and build/theory crafting. I'm glad that this can be done for those who enjoy it though... plus I benefit from their knowledge and work in those areas. When I ask questions, or research, it's more to avoid pitfalls than to squeeze out maximum efficiency. Of course, if min/max and concept/theme are the same thing, which does sometimes occur... BONUS !! I like to use my powers, I hate downtime between power usage... getting slapped around while all my buttons are refreshing. Admittedly, this is I'm sure less if an issue later on as more powers become available, but at sub 20, it can be issue... thankfully we have P2W attacks to help with this issue early on. Now, onto my point... my opinions. I've dabbled with many combos, (not all will be mentioned below), and Blue side missions only. Also, I really don't have much of anything slotted, maybe a few ACC drops... but I vendor most everything at these low levels. Also, probably my biggest desire... I want to feel like I have super powers. I've played Defenders, Controllers, Masterminds, Corruptors, Brutes, and Stalkers, and from a solo, or simply game play aspect, (I've never liked pet classes, so MM just doesn't do it for me, and I've never been a stealth, attack from the shadows guy, so buh bye Stalkers), they just don't cut the mustard enough to warrant a specific mention as do the others below. Scrappers -- I have several. One of my biggest gripes? The waiting on button refreshing mentioned above. Even my Claws guy, with 4 attacks, 5 counting the AoE, (Spin?), but that's not part of the regular 1:1 rotation, I have a bit, not much, of attack downtime... to be fair, with him it's probably not enough to even mention, but it is there. Energy, with 4x attacks? Fuhgedabodit... once I've used all 4, I can go eat dinner waiting even for that first T1 power to refresh. Ok, obviously I'm exaggerating, but it FEELS that way while I'm getting pummeled. Martial Arts... OMG what an endurance PIG !!!! Nuff said there. Also, they don't really feel like, to me, that they have real super powers. It's just swinging your fists. I can put on colored boxing gloves to pretend that I have energy or radiation punches... I can rig knives to my hand to pretend that I have claws. Tankers -- GAH !! I have several actually. Conceptually I want to love my quintessential SS/INV Tanker. In a fight with the standard 3x mobs, ranging from blue to orange, it takes him FAR longer to kill the group than my other classes. He has 3x SS attacks, Black Wand, and Mutagen... and when going against yellow or orange, the TANKER finishes with LESS HP than EVERY. SINGLE. OTHER. CHARACTER that I have. This just completely deflates my enthusiasm for what is, again, one of my top 3 favorite character concepts; SS/INV... sadly, he's just an exhausting chore to play. Tankers also suffer from the same, "don't feel like super powers" issue I mentioned above with Scrappers... ain't nothin' SS feeling about SS. Blasters -- Just not really my jam. I don't want a glass canon, and if I'm playing a ranged character I want to use/rely on, ranged powers only. I know folks, Blaster experts mostly, think of Blasters as damage dealers period; dealing damage both at range and melee. However, the game, during creation, counts them as ranged DPS. I also want defense, especially against status effects, (some can get that in their secondary around lv 20, but not all secondaries) Sentinels -- Now we're talkin' !! Ranged only attacks, (I'm aware of their limitations/weaknesses vs their Blaster set counterparts), and defenses... especially againgst status effects, (/Bio at lv 4)? Sign me up. I have more Sents than any other class and LOVE 'EM. My favorite primary? Archery. No attack downtime even when I just had 3x attacks, and even more importantly... inherent accuracy. I one billion majillion quintillion percent hate, Hate, HAte, HATe, HATE, miss, miss, miss, hit, miss miss miss, hit, ad naseum of the low level life style. I've died on characters so many times due to that BS mechanic alone, it pisses me off to no end. Archery isn't nearly as bad. Another concept favorite? Sonic. I chose the casting from the hands, white color powers, black costume, and I have one of my favorite Marvel characters; Havoc. Dominators -- My absolute favorites. First of all, plenty... dare I say too many?... attacks. Even at level 4 or 6 or so... ZERO attack downtime. They also really feel like they have super powers. My two favorites are Mind/Psi, (#1 to me), and Grav/Energy, (#2 to me). Resistance to Psi attacks, animation to dmg lag, any perceived, or real, weakness of Mind/Psi, I don't care. Psionic characters are my THANG !! Love 'em in comics, back in my PnP gaming days, I played a psionic character in a game called Traveller, and in 4E DnD as well. Plus, IMHO, the ability to remove two foes from a fight entirely, or a group, with sleeps and holds is amazing. All the other Dom, (or Controller for that matter), primaries have a hold and immobilize/root... well they can, an do, still attack you when immobilized/rooted... slept foes cannot. Grav/En fits a fun theme for me as I actually love Marvel's villain Graviton. Also, simply locking mobs down and giving them the finger delights me. So, IMO, for ME, Doms & Sents offer the smoothest, easiest low level solo experience, and frankly just tick all my personal boxes. I'm not saying they're the meta, min/maxing best, and probably my specific choices are even less so... but they've proven to be the most fun for ME. Just wanted to share. Thanks for all the help this community has offered. Take care.
  21. Thank you... I did read it, which is where I learned about using Hasten and LotG set. Glad to know that I can pick and choose as I wish, with the door always open to go Permadom at 50 should I change my mind. Many thanks, for both this and your trus fund guide.
  22. Hiya, folks. I have a Mind/Psi Dom which I love, both thematically, and powers. I'm not a min/max player. I have my game settings so that in missions I never encounter a Boss. Might be a "Boss" as far as name/powers go, but is set to a LT level. I'm not a power gamer, I don't care about setting records, build/theory crafting, etc... I just want to turn bad guys into smears on the pavement without stress, or honestly, too much challenge. I like to pick powers that go with my theme, or I simply like the looks of. This is strictly a "for me," solo character... I wouldn't inflict my less than optimal choices on a group. To me it's not fair to ask a group to carry my admittedly selfish power choices, and not carry my own weight. With all that in mind... do I NEED Permadom to be successful as a solo Mind/Psi Dom, just interested in story/radio missions, and street sweeping? I don't want Hasten, (I know about all the benefits, it just doesn't fit this particular character, I have it on some others), I don't want what, to me, are undesirable powers, just to put the Luck of the Gambler recharge sets into, etc. But if I can't handle solo, "no Boss" settings, (real Boss), story/radio missions, or just street sweeping, then I may bail on this guy rather than be forced into power/slotting choices, not to mention costs, for something that I wouldn't enjoy as much. Thoughts? Can I get by without Permadom for my play style, and enjoy my character and his performance how I'd like... or the game is just se up in a way where that's not possible, and bail now? Thank you for your time and advice.
  23. Thank you. Yes, I just realized this last week actually, and thought I was going nuts, lol. My favored characters are all Lv 12, (one is 14), which is why I mentioned Lv 15 SOs.
  24. Thank you all for the suggestions. I did contact @Yomo Kimyata who did indeed gift me with 20mil inf... thank you again. I felt kind of dirty doing so, so I logged into my ESO account... (where *I* am filthy rich, with max level crafters in every craft, etc, and I regularly hang out in newbie zones giving out gold, and taking free crafted gear requests, I also do some PL runs for folks) ... and handed out gold, and took some crafted gear requests, free of course... made me feel better taking his influence, lol. Now I want to narrow it down to two characters in which to invest... I have so many alts that I enjoy to one degree or another... that were I to invest in each of them, I'd blow through it and probably be broke by 30, lol. I figure if I invest in only two for now, they'll have plenty to carry them, fairly nicely kitted out with enhancements, until they're not only self sufficient, but can also support the others. Kinda wish there weren't so many fun classes/power sets, then also Blue/Red side, lol... first world problems though. Once I figure the two out, I'll put them in lv 15 SOs, maybe whatever is next; 18? 20? ... then at lv 22 get the lv 25 IOs, and go from there. Very much appreciated the advice. Take care.
  25. Hello, folks. While not really a newbie per se to CoX/Homecoming, I haven't played much in Homecoming. What "Enhancement Strategy/Plan" do you recommend across characters who are really j6st starting out... meaning I ain't got da moolah, lol. So, all these billion in IO builds, (which I can't even imagine having, lol), are not on the table. No, this us NOT a pity me, beg for Inf thread... it is a pity me, beg for advice thread. My highest character is 14, my top favorites to play range from 10 - 14; a few each of Scrappers and Sentinels, (my favorite classes), a Dominator, and a Tanker. Any help and advice is appreciated. Thank you.
