  1. I was inspired by them back in the day.

     

    I played on Union and once sunset was announced I decided to try get my SG as high as possible.

     

    mostly solo, I moved my SG from just below Torchwood to eventually 3rd place.

    This was about 12-13B burned back on Live on my fire farmer in AE and was taken early September, just under a month before Sunset.

    I have never had so much fun just buying and selling Ancient Aritfacts.  It is quite humerous with all the AH inventory available and seeing a Toon at level 2 or lower with a quick Million or two and with such little time investment.  Some folks, myself included, are pleased and amazed when some random player trades/gifts you a quick Million while you first visit Ms. Liberty.  This is even better / easier / more profitable.

  3. Having spent some time with my storm2 the other night and actually firing off powers to check what they were doing...holy balls chain lightning is poopoo. I have mine slotted with a set of Posi blast and a extra damage proc (i was trigger happy on my respec and put 6 slots in) and it just does no damage. I was on a citadel, and hitting a bobby basic council spawn with the chain doing like 40 damage or something ridiculously low. 

    I then joined a lvl 50 doing a classic Dreck map. Here I got to the point that I mentioned to the team that I felt completely useless outside of my ability to drop freezing rain and -res proc'd 'nado to help the team kill faster. Otherwise my shit just didn't come online till the spawn was wiped apart from the Tank Smashers. 

     

    We got to the final Dreck fight and he was looking mighty juicy. 3 spawns of stuff to just set up and wipe out. Then an AV sized sack of HP to finally sink my teeth into! Unfortunately I faceplanted as 1 tank isn't enough to manage 3 spawns of aggro and ended up sitting out at least 50% of the fight until someone barrier rezzed me. 

     

    I think this toon might just be relegated to a for fun only and have a lowered budget. Unless the devs throw some love our way and give us the storm calling that we all know this set should achieve. 

     

    Also I defo more into the lightning and zapping people side more than the wind and clouds side. Or at least as the animations are at the moment. Especially because Cat5 and the wind summons it produces feels like more than enough wind based stuff.

    Focused Lightning strikes need to deal the same damage as the Snipe power.  The Split lightning damage needs to deal as much as the T8 power at minimum.  And the Spread lightning damage need to deal at least as much as the T2 power to all targets.

     

    Id rather they kept damage the same and just unlocked the power. I want to see lightning crashing all other the place as I spam powers in the stormcell.

  5. I haven't tested this at all due to lack of time to play, but, does slotting stormcell for accuracy and damage make any difference to the procs that are fired off from other blasts? I have been heavily leaning on storm summoning for damage, so only have it on the base slot with a +rech proc. 

     

    Anyone actually tested chat logs for procs before and after slotting damage into storm cell?

  6. My thoughts:

    Heal: Twilight grasp is just slotted 100% incorrectly. Please revisit previous advice

    Blasts: take them to do damage, don't take them to slot them with tohit debuff. The summons are largely unnoticeable outside of tanking an AV. You can have 3 blasts, but really 1 or 2 is sufficient. 

    Pet upgrades: Aegis and Impervious skin uniques are worthless. The others are good, but i think they work on you not the pets. (need to test tho I think im correct here)

    Shadowfall: you have dedicated 5 slots just to gain 3.75% recharge? Seems a huge waste to me. If you are going to 6 slot it, max the defense/resist/endredux of the power. 3 lots and 3 resist set such as unbreaks/GladArmours/TitaniumCoats

    Soul Extraction: base slot. You wont be gaining much from this power unless you dedicate more to it. This is a huge part of your damage

    Life drain: 0 accuracy or damage or heal. Which is why you want to take this power. 

    Fearsome stare: your bread and butter, 4 slots minimum. Either use it as a tohit debuffer (4 slots from cloud senses, use the pieces with accuracy in to make sure it hits) or use it as a fear and 5 slot it with Glimpse of the abyss for 6.25% recharge and a damage proc 

    Dark servant: Fine as is, BUT i would like 2 more slots for Touch of the nictus Acc/healing and acc/healing/something just to make sure he hits and his healing is much better.

    Dark Embrace: I can see again you have pushed for the recharge, however resist sets are not the best place to gain recharge bonuses. Mostly you gain that from defense (LOTG) attacks and your MM sets, and tohit debuffs

     

     

    Im sure your build would function fine as is, but there will be times that it will fail purely because of your slotting choices. 

     

    In summary:

    Your healing is poo currently

    Your damage is OK, but could be significantly better

    Your ability to look after your pets is way below where i would feel comfortable playing personally.

    I don't think I tested this, or don't remember testing this. My gut feeling here is that these won't apply to the pets and will apply to the MM. Am I correct here?

    Whirlwind from the speed pool? That can only take 1 damage proc. 

     

    Does it proc often then? Seems like a super whack combo but I have never tried it myself 🤔🤔🤔🤔

    This is a chaotic build, but I put an SD Knockdown proc into Jet Stream as it wasn’t helping me to keep things in my storm patch.  I’ve toyed around with totally respeccing out of that power since it’s a basic clone of Gale, but realized it’s actually more useful than Gale as it feeds into the whole mechanic of the Storm Blast set.

     

    That said, I agree with a lot of the testers than Cat 5 is a bit of a head scratcher.  A T9 “nuke” that does almost all of its damage at the end of its duration rather than up front?  Steamrolling teams don’t even stick around enough for it to be useful.  Solo, it’s even questionable as to its utility.  I may (gasp!) respec out of it completely.  With high recharge you just won’t find it very useful for spawn clearing.  It’s a very creative mechanic for sure, but looks like someone did it to be cute and didn’t even consider the meta of this game is steamrolling teams.  If your nuke isn’t clearing the spawn quickly, it’s -not- a nuke.  It’s a wasted power pick.  I think what we are seeing with this blast set is the issue with development and testing with such a small user base.  Most of the Beta testers did their testing while SOLO, not teamed.  That’s the nature of having such a tiny user base.  And I’m sure the developer did most of their design around a solo mindset as well.  As-is, the powers work really, really well for a SOLO player.  At 40 I was already soloing +3/x5 and while I tended to solo more at the +2 level, I wasn’t taking much damage at +3…just whiffed more frequently.  But all my powers worked really well solo because I could play tactician.  It’s almost like playing a MM really solo….you control the powers being used and you can dominate the battliefield as long as you don’t pull too much aggro.  But teaming?  Good luck with anything but blasting and getting a LS or Tornado out for a Storm/Storm.  I have to be into the thick of the spawn really fast for Soul Drain but after that stuff dies too quickly for your reverse-nuke to even come into play.  It’s literally my least-used power when teaming, compared to all my other Corruptors where my Nuke is used as often as its up.

     

    As-is, Cat 5 is basically a severely gimped form of Blizzard…..in a nursing home…on crutches….loaded with painkillers.

     

    Honestly, I have a build on Test server right now where I’ve swapped out Cat5 for futhermucking CROSSPUNCH procc’d out and you know what?  I’m actually FAR faster at killing stuff than I was with my T9.  And if I’m not taking C5, it really makes me reconsider keeping Storm Cell in the mix, which is a set-defining power.  And if I’m not keeping either of those….why am I taking this new blast set again on a Corruptor?  Maybe a Sentinel?  No wait….Sentinels as an AT need so much damn work this would be even worse.

     

    I dunno gang…..really thinking that unless they nerf a whole bunch of other powersets to bring them down to this level, this is a meme/theme powerset only.

     

     

     

    My response to this is lead the team yourself and only recruit people in the 20-30 range. That way you are the more powerful hero on the team and all your back loaded damage has a chance to hit XD

     

    on a real though, storm/storm has so much initial set up with all that leading to mostly back loaded damage you need to be 15-30s ahead of the team. Running ahead as bosses are mopped up to start anew on the next spawn. By the time you have dropped Storm Cell, Cat 5, FR, Nado, LS ( a whopping 10s of total cast times) the team should catch up. 

     

    Or maybe rock it in small teams? 

     

    Its a fun set, if you just go in with the mindset of "oooh pretty visuals" and ignore that fact that you are probably less useful on a team of similar levelled and slotted heroes. 

     

  11. I have "upgraded" my Mids so won't be able to check your build beyond eyeballing. Here is my old file tho for my current build. 

    It is generally unkillable in solo content. I have solo'd AVs +4 no issues

     

    I have no way to check this build is up to date, so here is a screenshot of my enhances from ingame, hopefully they match up to this file.

     

    Things to note about slotting choices:
    Twilight Grasp: NEEDS ToE +End proc. It has a chance to go off on everyone you hit, so the more things you heal (pets + fluffy + extraction = 13 targets) the more +end you get. 

    You have 4 personal attacks with this build, all with lots of damage procs in them. Can give you some respectable DPS options to add on to Bosses/EBs/AVs

    Fluffy: He is a -tohit debuffer first and a healer second. (never slot him for hold)

    All pet uniques are in the build

    T1: Always good practice to slot KD proc here. 

    T2: BU proc and damage procs. Turns them into DPS powerhouses

    Pet upgrades: Dark Empowerment gives your pets +MaxHP, any health unique you slot here will be given to your upgraded pets (not you) hence the Panacea +HP/+END proc. 

    You really dont need a resist or defense shield on a MM, especially a dark miasma one, as bodyguard mode (Defensive Follow) shares the damage amongst all your pets which you (and fluffy) just heal back up. 

    Control/CC is handled with lots of layered options here: tohits from fearsome stare and darkest night (and fluffy) // Stuns and massive -regen from Howling twilight // spawn KD from bonfire.

     

    hope this helps, and hope the mids build is the same as this one screenied!

  12. Why don't you just take two human only builds from one of the posts on the forums and export them via mids into the beta server? Then you can test them and see which playstyle you prefer. 

    whilst both PB and WS are able to be played human only (gimped as you rightly said), their playstyles are quite different. 

     

    Hard to give a definitive play X vs Y when they achieve different goals in different ways.

    If you thought I meant naturally leveling, nah. Not enough slots. Could maybe get more uptime than most due to xpunch though.

  15. To be fair to the set, it doesn't exactly feel lacking in the AOE department. Whilst my experience is tempered with the fact I am paired with Storm Summoning, which is a primary damage source all by itself, standard Storm Blast set up seems to wipe everything in a group anyway. All you have to do is target the bosses and unload on them and let Cat5 and the ramp up do the rest. 

     

    Doesn't seem like a big loss that you can get an extra proc or two in your powers for extra damage. Especially when you can just gain more +rech bonuses to pump more powers out and therefore more ambient lightning procs.

    stealth, grant invis and infiltration all have 1 LOTG in them. (only lvl 38 currently.)

     

    nado is +rech, KD, -res, rech/end, rech/end/dam, dam 

     

    chance for BU in LS, procs quite regularly. 

     

    Currently working on getting thunderstrike slots so it hits and offers more +rech

    Right now I'm pretty happy with the set. The min/maxer in me is pretty whelmed, but that might change once Mids is updated. However, the set is super fun to play (which is the most important part IMO). I don't think I'll grow tired of smiting foes with Direct Strike. 😄

     

    I recorded my second Citadel run, if anyone's interested in how Storm Blast might look in regular, easy content.
