  1. Homecoming released a database of ALL the possible power set configurations and how many players they have that play them, but I can't seem to find it at all anymore. Anyone have a link?

It would be nice to have an API or easily accessible/viewable database like this, maybe under "Server Status" with much more information than just the amount of players.

I have three accounts, I have more than ten characters per account. I have to keep a spreadsheet to work out which character is where and doing what. Mostly to see what Currency each has (being able to see what Merits/Inf/etc would be my wish) but being able to see what level there are would be a help... more so for the actual level and XP to reach level than how far through a level they are. (So if I'm playing at 15, but I haven't got powers/slots since 12 I want to see 15(12).)

I have spreadsheets as well, even for costumes / costume plans for those characters and bio's...

The issue is that some people, if you even slightly interfere with their ability to smack around or efficiently burn down groups with AoEs, get pissy about it.

I've been playing some meleers lately, and sometimes my target gets knocked out of my reach.  I roll my eyes, yes, but then I suck it up and run after them.

I think a lot of players are spoiled by fire farms et al, or don't want "active" combat; they'd prefer target dummies that just stand there and take it.

(Disclaimer: I'm in a slightly cranky mood this morning.)

I agree.. times have changed since live, where throwing people around was fun and only a little irritating. People didn't care about efficiency that much back then. Now days, very few games seem to have knockbacks, game companies don't seem to add them, because they know people won't use them.

  4. I believe they intended to expand on a few of these things, but we all know what happened.

I'll start by saying that I have no expectations that this is even possible.  It's a complaint I've had since AE was first implemented.  I just wish it worked differently.  I dislike that it's enclosed in the building the way it is.  It was meant to be a storytelling feature, but became just a farming method because it couldn't help but be.

I agree with you, but AE was created as a tool to help facilitate expanding content without developers and permit players to create their own content. This gave the game a self evolving content creation platform. Whether players used it for farming or creating legitimate content is solely based on the players, but at least that freedom was given to us. Farming already existed before AE. I would rather have AE and have farmers, then not have AE. Content is still content whether it's created or not and should still have rewards to offer incentive.

I wish that when making a mission it was possible to define a zone for that missions to exist in, such that the door would actually be in that zone.  I also wish that the contact could exist in the zone.  Rather than having holographic person that becomes the contact I envisioned a series of phased contacts throughout the zones that can unphase when you start an AE and become the contact in the world.  Then AE could become, not only a storytelling tool, but an RP tool, better than it currently is.  If any of this were actually possible.

I like that idea. However I feel like their orginal intent was a 'simulated story telling platform.' where they could separate not actual world effecting stories or events. Like we play video games in our world, supers of this world would go play AE.

Additionally, and this one I hope is more possible.  It would be awesome if the AE base item was actually functional.  That would also help further RP because it wouldn't require taking the group out of the moment by crowding into an AE building in some zone, or Pocket D.

Doesn't seem bases support 'mission doors' of any kind though, even if they did I think you'd always end up back in a regular zone after the mission. Everything you get from the Mission Terminal says you have to go to a regular zone and /ah doesn't even work.

Now if any of these things could be enabled, that would be great!

I'd also like to see the ability for players to enter the same AE mission from any zone. I could be in PI, team leader in Atlas and we could both enter AE in that zone and end up in the same mission. If it's a 'simulation' we would both connect to the same one. It doesn't work this way because when you start a mission it 'assigns a door in a zone'.

This doesn't work. Something with the <> in the chat bar disables the ability to type in it.

Yep, I have tested this extensively. I remember this being an issue after I20 on live... not sure why it doesn't work anymore or gives us such a hard time.

(Wow.. this thread died.. keep posting macro's people! let's see what you have now. Where's that automation/creativity?)

I'm a fan of using thesaurus.com to help me come up with names. Also sometimes a different language if there is a direct translation and I won't butcher it if I try to say it. Then I'll color swap a costume I really like. I don't always do those things, but it's a tactic I do rely on a decent amount of the time.

    Best tool ever.

  7. I love a lot of the skin outfits but hate how most of them look painted on. We're limited to only a few select ones that have both versions like Heart, Angelic and a few others.

During live it seemed Cryptic / Paragon Studios started adding and updating the skin costume pieces to have versions with depth edging and a little more like clothing instead of the painted on look to them. With the community now being able to update and submit patterns, is there any intent to continue this?

    Ummm, okay...

Not sure what I was expecting here, pages and pages of great name/costume

combinations perhaps but I'm glad that worked out for someone, I guess?

I'm getting there, will take time to build up, this is just a drop thread, where I can drop, share and document things I come up with.

There's no board specific for this, not sure where else I would put it except Art/Media.
Hope you enjoy it as I grow it!

  10. Xoza's Characters & Creations

City of Heroes has always been great for character creation, inspiration and creative freedom. I have created so many in a short amount of time I have had to designate a page per archetype in character selection. Here is just a place I could centralize and share all my creations and ideas. Not only do these characters have fitting outfits, they've some fitting names and inspirations.

I eventually resorted away from creating characters, to just creating outfits or AE groups/characters to share. Enjoy!
