  1. That's why badges would still be a thing, and you wouldn't need to use it, just like I wouldnt use that particular peice. But Just like I'd rather earn a vanguard prime set since I'd use it, someone else would rather earn a monkey ear because theyll use it. So you have other unlockable options continually added it, along with free ones
  2. Then why does it matter if a small few out of the many costume peices are unlockables? I wonder why hero's in many story's has an article of clothing or s weapon that sets them apart from others...hmm Maybe costume peices are more important after all.
  3. Don't worry my friend. Were definitely not alone; mention it to people in game about it. Especially if your doing old school missions as a team and not just AE farming.
  4. God , I would hope the unlockables wouldn't require that much work. I never though a costume set was worth the culmination of dozens of years and hundreds of thousands of people's dedication, hard work, and sacrifice. Just a 30 minutes story arc. Things don't need to be historically and culturally epic to still be an acomplishment dude.
  5. Value is often determined by the beholder isnt it? And pride and accomplishment are not synonymous with social superiority. A balanced pride in your accomplishments should definitely be promoted and it's extremely good for your self image. Plus it helps you because a more productive member of society. I don't care if they whole server earned the same costume set I earned, in fact I would hope they could and did.
  6. If you've watched star trek, you'll know that money and physical things, for the most part, become so easy to obtain that instead of those things having a ton of value, how good at something some is, and the reputation they build has much more value. Would you find it acceptable if someone who doesn't as good of a reputation as someone else to wallow if self doubt and misery, or expect them to go build that reputation if they wished they had it that bad?
  7. If I see someone with something I like I don't go "aw... I wish in had that but I don't...' I go 'hey that's cool, I'm going to get that too!' And if I find out its beyond me to get it i go ' shucks that would be cool, let's find something else cool!' And I move on. If someone is mentally harmed because someone has something they don't and instead of that driving them to get it they immediately feel damaged... then theres something else that needs to be discussed, and it's not video games
  8. If I do something in real life and I awarded for it with something i like, it's great. ( I would love to be paid in swords sometime) Why is it unhealthy to expect the same thing in games?
  9. Or, hear me out, they can have 90% free and only have %10 that requires somet effort. Compromise is an important part of society. Although it doesn't matter. A lot of people in game like thr idea if costume unlockables, but it'll up to the dev's, and hopfully, eventually volunteers.
  10. Over covered this before, I enjoy rping within the boundarys set by the game. At the moment theres no way for my characters to earn new costumes. It's like im forced to be Bruce Wayne, except he had to at least wait for new things to be made
  11. Then they should be fine with the free vanguard armor, and I'll be fine earning the vanguard prime armor. And If that isn't good enough and the character is instead a vanguard prime, well then put forth stone effort and earn that armor on another character first than. Be okay with delaying gratification, it tastes sweeter that way.
  12. I do role play. I just do so mostly with the confines of the game. So instead of coming up with a story on how my character got the vanguard prime set and explaining it to people, I can just use it knowing that I helped push the rikti back and trying to find out what happened to Hero One and anyone seeing it will automatically know that too. Then if I want to, I can make a new character that already was a vanguard prime, but lost his memory and has to start learning over again.
  13. Once thing that I would also say too is that there's always different sets for a fraction. What if say, a Vanguard costume set was free, but then a Vanguard Prime set was an unlockable for the story arc? That way your character that was a vanguard but lost thier memory and has to relearn can be so at level one with no effort given, and those that want costumes with some significance can earn the vanguard prime armor.
  14. Wholeheartedly agree, there should be a huge ammout of options in every regard so everyone can enjoy the game, not hussy ( supposed to be just, but the auto correct is to funny) roleplayers. Have a top hat that's free, a top hat with a band that takes 10 skulls defeated to get, a top hat with a band and a buckle that requires a skull story arc, and a top hat with a band a buckle and a rose, for some skulls goal beyond that, but im sure 10 skulls is already to much effort for some.
  15. And I've said i could be agreeable to that, as long as at least a title and badge were awarded for taking a more difficult road.
  16. And I completely understand that, but that's why you wait to make that character until another character unlocked that gear. At least that's how my old group did it and it was a blast helping each other get the gear they needed for a new idea, yet you wish to bar people from that joy completely, not even allowing for a couple costume peices like that.
  17. And that's why we don't ask for every item to be locked just some. Since when were Rp'ers the only important group? Or even the majority? What you call "time sinks" (if reasonable) the majority of any mmorpg with a large player base call necessary. Maybe you don't want a large player to rp with a close group a friends? I'd rather have a large player base so I can add to my friends. If the item is necessary to them, they can spend some time getting it.
  18. From my ingame convos today, seems like this is a vocal minority. Most people were excited at the ideas I mentioned. Hopefully the dev's listen to the players. I don't know why the concept of spending time playing new content to receive new costume/ powers/whatever rewards is such a disgusting idea to you, but thankfully not everyone is that limited.
  19. Dose it need to be that extreme? Why can't it be a guaranteed reward the you get a bank tellers hat after the bank is saved, or you've logged out at the bank?
  20. Well after checking with people that are currently playing I'm feeling better. Take care everyone, I'm going to go work on my car.
  21. I enjoy this in single player games too, so obviously not. It's more ' I have a hat that signifies my saving this town and it's a cool hat I can wear that people can see and theyll knows I saved this town's If badges are so comparable, why are you okay with them being locked? Maybe costumes hold more meaning?
  22. Then why is my way not even allowable by some here? It's funny how people claim that their way is the best, while claiming that I think I'm think in superior.
  23. And I'd be okay with that because I could literally play in game the role of a hero that earned a belt of honor by pushing the lost out of the sewers. Thankfully I've taken the question to some in game and my hope is definitely mirrored by many I've spoken too.
  24. And that's what coh was, until it was taken away and all we had was icon. Ever wonder why icon never had literal 1000s of people playing at all times? Pardon me if I don't want that to be coh
  25. Because they already have and have had icon for years. Why take the biggest and most stable group of server that intend to not only be the unofficial official continuation, but one that also plans on adding many different types of content based on what they're looking for in the dev corner, and just turn it into icon costume 2.0?
