Oh one last question. I read lots of differing opinions of Shield Defence being significantly better on a Scrapper than a Brute. Is this the case? Or is it much ado about nothing? Being that I will be solo, will I be much better off being Scrapper, Tank or Brute?

I have multiple ideas for characters with Shield Defence, but the lack of a heal puts me off, since I will be solo. Those who have used the set, how have you managed without one? Do you miss it, does it really need one? Thanks in advance.

I had a storm summoner defender back on live just before closure, I remember I was really enjoying it, but never got to finish her. I only really have time to solo now, so I figure a mastermind would serve me better, as I can jump on and off at leisure. I was wondering if any fellow masterminds here have experience with the set on an MM. How is it? Is endurance an issue solo? What primary would it go best with? Is it hard to keep pets alive? Does anyone have any experience with any of these combo's? I will only be solo'ing pve missions from 1-50, and for that I'm sure for that they will all be just fine, I was just curious if one is 'significantly' better than the others? If not I'll just go for aesthetics 🙂 I found a few guides here and there, but all were written 3 years ago, and since I've been away from the game several years I don't know if any or all of these weapon sets have been tinkered with, positively or negatively. I will be playing solo all the time, only doing door/story missions. Just the old school slow levelling process. I am looking to play a controller, and I have read there are some strong solo options that would suit me. Something powerful, but also fun, as I like to create a story for the character and will help me stick with it 🙂 I have heard some things about Plant/Storm, which would suit a druid theme. Can anyone suggest any other strong solo builds they had success with? Ideally I'm not looking for builds that 'only get good' late levels and IO'd to death. Looking for something strong enough and consistent enough from level 1 onwards on a minimal budget. Many thanks.

I ended up going with Beasts/Nature. I tried Thermal for a bit, and while I do really like Thermal (think I'll go Thermal/Necro), it didn't really gel well with Beasts, but Nature works a treat, I'm loving it so far, upto level 24. I took Call Hawk, as it really does some suprisingly good damage, and recharges super quick. Thematically a lot of fun. 🙂 I will definitely come up with something for Storm though, I remember playing Storm back in the day on a Defender, but never got around to doing it on an MM, just have to figure out which primary. This isn't a question about favourite sets or favourite secondaries, this is a question about the pets themselves. More important, which individual pet is your favourite? Ie, is it the Soldier, Spec Ops, Commando, Zombie, Grave Knight, Lich, Genin, Jounin, Oni, Battle Droid, Protector Bot, Assault Bot, Thug, Enforcer, Bruiser, Demonling, Demon, Demon Prince, Howler Wolf, Lion or Dire Wolf? Which one pet from all the sets you've played really stuck out to you above the others?

I've trawled through the old posts and apart from a smattering of comments I can't find much on these combo's. I think they would both work, and I have a good idea for a story for both, but was wondering if anyone has tried either or both and how did they find them? I'll only be solo, and just normal door mission content. Thanks.

Got my heart set on playing a Beasts Mastermind and would like some advice on secondaries. Now, I am a solo player only, and it will be just door/story missions, I'm in no rush to 50, just want to enjoy the missions and the slow climb. I've kind of narrowed it down to Thermal or Nature (although I'm open to changing my mind if you have better experience with another set). Want something that's fun, keeps me occupied but also keeps me and the gang alive and powerful, or, the set that does a 'better' job of that. So any experienced Beasties out there? Thanks 🙂

The headline writes itself. Crey complaints department slaughter 28 complaints staff at Crey were brutally slaughtered today when a group of heroes mistook their office for a Crey lab. The heroes who came at the defenceless staff with katanas, fire blasts and flying boulders said they were trying to 'arrest' the staff. When we pointed out that impaling a 53 year old woman in a wheelchair with a katana isn't arresting, they declined to comment. Crey made this official statement. 'This is just typical of the reckless behaviour we have come to expect from these so called heroes. We have lost over 300 loyal staff members this month alone. People with families. How do I explain to their children that mummy and daddy isn't coming home, because some hero caved their skull in with a stone mallet while 'arresting' them. They don't arrest anyone! How many Crey are in jail right now? None! How many are in the cemetary, thousands!'.

Well, I have no wish to remake my old 50's. I just imagine they retired, are running some organisation somewhere, or got married and settled down :) But that's the roleplayer in me. Chalk me up as one of the, not in any rush. My highest is 43, and I probably won't hit a 50 anytime soon, I'll get there when I get there. I still like the slow levelling process, the joy of getting a new level. Even though I've done it dozens of times before. But everyone wants to play how they want. If it isn't affecting your game, and it shouldn't. What does it matter what other people do? I'm just happy the game exists again, after being dead and buried so long. I'll enjoy it while it's still around, could vanish again tomorrow, and not worry how others play, none of my concern.

The novelty of this game for me, last time, and this time, was creating a great story for my character, really fleshing out who they are. Taking an age getting the costume just right. Then enjoying the content of the storylines (even though I've done them all before), progressing slowly, taking time to smell the flowers so to speak, going to each and every zone. I don't care about being 'uber' or super rich. As long as I love the character I'm playing, I'm happy to take it slow, the more time to enjoy being with them. Now I know there are many who are like me, just roleplaying, doing all the stories, not worrying about 'Ultimate Power!!!'. While there are those who run 8x TF's 24/7, farm like mad, have 10 billion influence and a purple in every slot. That would bore the hell out of me, and perhaps how I play would bore them. So each to their own. At the end of the day, people can play how they want. As long as it doesn't affect my enjoyment. The only thing I would say is this, to brand new players, there is so many great stories and content in this game, don't feel you need to hit 50 like yesterday and miss it all. It's about the journey, not the destination.

Don't know if a bug, if not, it's annoying. Has happened twice now, was private chatting with someone, and they joined a team while I was chatting, and then my next private chat didn't go direct to them but to their team leader. Say instead of going to Bob, it went to 'team leader of Bob or Bob's team leader'. Is this an issue, or is it some option I'm not selecting?

And you lived in Liberty City/Rogue Isles, you have a decent level of skill, enough to get noticed by all the baddie factions who came recruiting, which would you join? Which is the most beneficial? You start off as a lowly minion, and work your way up through training, enhancements etc to an Elite Boss, so what would you choose? Arachnos, Council, Tsoo, Skulls, Hellions, Banished Pantheon, Circle Of Thorns, The Cabal, Cage Consortium, Carnival, Crey, The Family, Freakshow, Gold Brickers, Malta...to name a few.

Imagine they made a movie about your character. Like an origins movie centered just on them. Which actor would you like to play your character? Or would they be CGI? In which case, who would you want to voice them?
