Best time so far on my ill/rad controller. I've run many tests and experiments to optimize this build for st dps. There are two things I have in mind which I could do to improve this slightly: 1. musculature core instead of intuitive radial (but I want the to hit debuff increase), 2. fire mastery instead of psionic mastery (but I want the mez prot from indomitable will). These most likely make a small difference, though.

Timer start: 0:09, when phantom army is activated

Timer end: 1:43, when the pylon is destroyed

    Total time: 1:34

    Effective DPS calculation: (30677.15+(102.26*94))/(94*0.8)=535.77

'DPS' coming from lingering radiation (based on past power analyzer tests): About 82 (factoring in periodic stacking)

Raw DPS calculation (including enervating field and degenerative interface debuffs, but no others): About 454

Incarnates used: intuitive radial alpha, degenerative core interface, assault core (toggled), and rebirth core destiny (to help keep phantasm alive).

Nice, but do you really need Rebirth as a /Rad? You could go Clarion Radial for the mez protection and the secondary boosts (it's the same as Power Boost) and then go fire pool.

I was getting tired of having to chase after them to prevent them from faceplanting every spawn.  😠

I'm just kidding.  Any player who tells you how you should be playing instead of making suggestions to help you play is just bad.  And if you're an Emp, chasing and babysitting is a big part of your job (I have a 50 Emp in fact).

I completely understand you, but the Blaster was alread IOed out and did not take damage and just nuked the spawn. It feels like some emps don't have awareness of their environment and what is really happening and adapt to it.

I think it is because Empathy is billed as this awesome support set for people going ALL IN on support. Some people like that. It gives them a sense of purpose to feel like they are filling a much needed roll. And it kind of is a really good healing set. Or, at least really focused on just support. I don't know of another support set that is more support focused. You get no "attack/debuf" oriented power but five buffs, two AoE and three single target. An AoE heal and a single target heal. You also get a second BAD single target heal that I am not counting since I don't think anyone takes it because it damages you and you already have umpteen other things that heal damage.

Those other sets you mention may offer more useful powers, in this game, since they have healing, buffing and debuffing. Empathy is all about helping the team, even at your own expense, and so draw people more focused on the team.

Unfortunately in this game you really don't have TEAMS because you don't need them. You form groups where you zip through content that half the people could solo and so there is no need to communicate or coordinate anything.

Hence you get the bossy empath who is trying to fulfill the role of healer, that is not needed, on a team, that is not needed. It makes them feel frustrated with a group that "won't listen". While the the rest of the group steamrolling through content is wondering why this guy is nattering on about buffs when my health bar has not budged in three missions and I can barely get two licks in on a boss before he is dead.

Believe it or not, however, there are times when it can be useful. I run a mind/empathy controller who usually just hold stuff and hands out buffs willy/nilly as they come up. But on rare occasions he will find himself in a group so incompetent that he actually has to pay attention to the health bars of some of his fellow player. Probably because the tank has yet to figure out how to buy enhancements or something. I don't know.

I am myself coming from other MMOs, like Everquest and played a fair share of healers myself. Still don't get it, because if they are that good of a healer they should notice when the health bar is not  moving.

  4. I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I have a 50 Ill/Dark (perma PA, Musculature, Assault, 215% global recharge) and a 50 Plant/Dark (Musculature, Assault, 216% global recharge). My Ill will never be as fast as my plant who can run almost anything at /x8, this would take forever on my Ill who is able to solo AVs and GMs but running quick at x8? No way.

My plant kills on a reasonable speed, especially when I compare her to some of my melee toons. You guys do slot Carrion Creepers and AoE immob for damage, do you?

  5. I have mixed experiences with Tanks, but most on Reunion are good tanks. Brutes on the other hand....

But what is really driving me mad is the amount of shitty and bossy emps that are running around. Starting with the ones that don't take any attacks besides the first one and put heal on auto. Or the lazy one, that has the buffs but does not use them. Or the one that puts clear mind on the melees (not talking lowbie teams here). But the worst is the one that bosses everyone around and think that the team can't go on without them. I had one screaming to the Blaster (who was totally fine) not to attack first. And they tend to insist that you come to them for buffs, even if you don't need them. They are in over their head and think only they have value buffs. I never had that happen with any other support set, be it kin, dark, cold, thermal, pain or whatever. They just buff on the go and deal with it. Plus they are super ignorant about other powersets. We got a kinetics with speed boost and a Dark with Soul Absoprtion, we don't want to run all the way back to you just to get Recovery Aura, regardless of how many times you insist we do. And when they announce you how to stay near them for the heal, out Thermal would like to have a word with you.

Can someone explain to me what's wrong with them?

Sorry for the ran, but I could write a book about those types of emps.

  6. If I farm inf for myself I usually run alone, but if someone tells me if they can stick along, they get invited. I never charge but I also never PL all the way to 50, not myself, not anyone else. I do not do it for my onw toons, as I like to see if I like the powers and such (I am mainly rolling toons with powersets I did not back on Live). I don't think it's a good idea if a completely new player gets PLed all to 50.

Oh, but I usually run PI Teams with any of my level 50 and everyone is welcome to join, even lowbies.

  7. I had an perma PA Ill/Rad on live and now have a perma PA Ill/Dark. I personally enjoy the /Dark much more, with that much recharge (215% in my case) all powers are up so often and Fade and especially Soul Absorption are so damn good, I can hardly ever play any other Secondary on a Controller. Fluffy also helps with setting up some containment ans is generally a good pet to have around.

Overall though I remember people always using the "cage" powers. In fact it used to be worse. A Fire or Plant troller would team up with me as an Ice Controller and then negate my Ice Slick with their immobilizes. Talk about feeling worthless.

Back on live I saw a lot of Ice Trollers doing that to themselfs too 🙂

Have to say I do mostly agree with the original idea.  The current situation also has the consequence of it being hard to justify taking an epic pool that doesn't have power boost in it when you go with time.

I'd say give Farsight a little bit of token damage resistance as well and use that as the "excuse" to not have it affected by Power Boost (and fix fade's issues).  I'd be for that and it'd be a little bit of a gimmie offset for the "nerf"

You can also go Clarion, same mechanics, open up more pool Options.

But putting that aside, in a world where TW/Bio Scrapper exist, I am not even sure Clarion or Power Boosted Farsight is our main concern, is it? Plus in endgame def buffs are meh, because most people took already care of their defences, and then there is Barrier….

  10. Can you really get PB to 60s so it can match up with Fade? I don't use PB on any of my Darkness Affinity toons, so no idea. Have an Ill/Dark and Plant/Dark. On the Illusionist I went only for recharge for perma PA so did not care about defenses. The Plant/Dark has soft capped range defense just with Fade only.

And, I don't use PB on my Fire/Time Corrupter either. Because Clarion. So we need to take that into the discussion too.

Ok, found the following build posted from Darkir with the Fighting Pool. How does that look? There were no responses to his last post, so wondering.

Just to see if it could be done slapped this together I've never tried this combo and I couldn't play it without fighting pool. Thunderstrike sets yuck. You could move them about swap stuff around. Burnout isn't necessary if you want mutation/self rez:

Thanks, that's very nice of you. I am always interrested in the opinions of people that are more experienced with builds than I am. Why wouldn't you play without the fighting pool? Why is Thunderstrike bad? You make it sound, like the build could be much better with the fighting pool?

  13. Hi there

I am looking for an endgame Ice/Rad build, but I am unsure if I can achieve the things I want, as I am not that good with Mids. I want perma AM/Hasten, softcapped ranged defenses (this should be enough, or what do you guys think?) Is this even possible without taking the fighting pool? Pools I wanted to take are: Leadership (Maneuvers, Maybe Assault), Flight (Hover, Fly), Leaping (Combat Jumping), Speed (Hasten, Maybe Superspeed), Dark Mastery (Dark Consumption, Sould Drain, Dark Embrace).

Powers I can live without are: Choking Cloud, Fallout, EM Pulse and Bitter Freeze Ray and I would skip eiter Ice Bolt or Ice Blast and maybe Mutation if the build is tight.

Some points in the right direction, like if this is even possible would help me much and would be highly appreciated. Money is not an issue.
