I am simply blunt, which I know to many people is considered confrontational, rude, and uncouth, even if I am not attempting any of those things, because I bring up points that many find uncomfortable to discuss.

I start conversations by getting down to brass tacks, not 'how are the kids and the spouse?'

I choose to address and talk about the things that are real issues, like how we treat each other as humans, not if the bonus on that attack should be +1 or +2.

So, I am quite used to the 'static' many people think I create by not conforming tp the lingustic interlocks many people prefer at every human exchange.

It's not that, I am well versed there, I know when I have caused someone to be uncomfortable most of the time.

What I am talking about are things that I have seen in this community where I have have had no involvement.

City of Heroes is the only game I have ever been playing in which the leader of the big raid doubled down on the thier thinking that the developers should be killed.

I clarified, thinking it hyperbole, but no, the person was serious, the developers should be put to death because of something they did not like about an interface.

I stopped playing incarnet raids on my server because this person was one of the main leaders.

City of Heroes is the only game in which I have seen people kicked off of teams for nothing more than a lack of badges (winter baby).

City of Heroes is the only MMO I have played that had players demand other players use or not use specific powers or be kicked.

City of Heores is the only game I have played where some players think others should be banned for not being creative enough to satisfy them.

We even have people at this stage who are determined anything not added by the 'original team' is _wrong_ for even existing.

    I can go on.

I have seen plenty of snark in other MMOs and games over the years, but what I see in City of Heroes has been direct, targetted hate toward anyone and everyone that would even suggest something new or different, even when we are at the point we all know nothing huge could even be changed, the mere suggestion brings down holy hell.

I just prefer in my delusion to try and look at things objectively.

I have had hundreds if not thousands of hours in game with friends and solo over the years.

IME, this group of people is no different at scale than any other group of game playing humans, this group is not some 'cut above' even if the it want's to delude itself.

Even here, by saying I don't think the CoH community is 'better', it's taken as as me thinking it's 'bad', which is not true, I just think it's it's average, no better and no worse than any other online game community, IME.

The moment a group of people decide they are 'better' than other groups is the moment, IME, that group loses all relevance and credibility. TBH.

I really can't believe it. Don't get me wrong I believe what you are saying. But you had either very bad luck or you did not play enough other MMOs. City of Heroes is ahead of other MMO Communities.

Edit: NVM you said not in game but on the forums. I am only striktly speaking ingame. And if I say the CoH community is much more friendly as any other it doesn't mean I think it's "better in an elitist way.

The whole "Controllers at 50 are irrelevant" thing is largely a product of Incarnate powers rendering control a bit moot. things die too quickly from barrages of Judgments and Nukes for Mezes and controls to have much effect.

This makes people lean more towards Corrupters, who can nuke and blast while offering similar support to controllers.

Your build looks pretty solid! My only comment is that you could probably get more out of Farsight if you picked Primal Mastery rather than Leviathan Mastery. Power Boost will pump the numbers given out by Farsight way up, allowing you to focus on other things in your build while softcapping. Water Spout is a great power too, and it's personal choice, but I figured it was worth mentioning at least.

Right tree Clarion does the same as Powerboost for Farsight.

Time is a very good set with lots of synergies, but Dark Control stands out in particular, especially if you're willing to go with the Energy tertiary pool for Power Boost (as most Time characters should). Time offers +Defense and Dark offers -ToHit. Both benefit from Power Boost and allow you to reach disgusting levels of safety while still being able to proc out powers and deliver decent damage.

You could also go with Radial Clarion which also boosts secondary effects and mez protection.

Only Exploration badges on villainside. You will need the Hero Slayer Badge. This gives a contact who gives all the mayhem missions on command. He is in Port Oakes. You need to kill 25 heroes to get the badge. You can do this by doing the LRSF, hunting heroes in Recluse’s Victory. Or the fastest way:
Go to Heroside to Brickstown, do the signature story arc, on the 3rd mission set it to -1x8. You’ll get the badge after completing this mission once.
Go to P2W Vendor and get the Reveal Power also get VidiotMaps if you haven’t already.
Now switch to villainside. Go to Port Oakes and talk to your new contact. Get each mayhem mission, use Reveal, and get the exploration badges. Easy.

Thanks for the guide, doing the Brickstown arc gives the Bloody Hands Badge not the Hero Slayer Badge though. I first thought it did not work when I finished the 3rd Mission.

Discussing facts you find inconvenient isn't the same as calling these facts problems! Personally, I loved the crazy inflation on Live and I would love an economy unbound by inf<=>merits (and converters) or market salvage seeding, in virtual environments I enjoy markets that are free to the point of being arguably predatory.

I can understand you from a financial standpoint, but I don't want that in a game.

  7. Ok, I did shuffle around some stuff. How does this look?

  8. Ok, I dropped Weave and Maneuvers and came up with this. I am clearly not good with mids and I have no idea how my ingame defense will look like. Any help is appreciated:

  9. I need to post my build, as I did some things different. I must admit, that I have problems handling mids and seeing with how many defence I will actually end up. I thought having a bit more might be good because of no defense debuff resistance?

Thanks for your suggestions, in fact after playing a while I might ditch Spin as it radius is so minimal, I rarely hit mor than 2 targets. Not sure what to take though. Psionic Tornado or Maybe something else?

    Anyways this is the build:

  10. I really have no idea what you guys are talking about. It plays like any melee would play. I did not want any of the Fortunata ranged attackes. How can you say that a large part of the survivability for Fortunata is coming from her ranged attacks when some posts above you're telling me that the defense is overkill? Plus I did choose the build because it has also some solid s/l resists. And to shock you even more: I did take Spin instead of Tornado 😜

I wanted to try that build using a second build on my Bane (your Bane endgame build) but can't seem to get it to work. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but on selecting a second build I cannot pick anything besides Singe Shot and Pummel in the Primary. I am pretty sure that must be me. Any hints on how to pick up Slice starting at Level 1?

Nvm, I wasn't aware that you even need to respec at 24 while just selecting a second build

  14. I didn't say you need that 50 additional feet, just saying that Hide is not superior to Superior Invis like you stated. Of Course you become visible if you click on a glowie, that's the same with ALL the Stealth powers. You make it in a click glowie argument, when clearly it was about you saying that hide is better than superior invis. If you don't believe me, get ingame, open Combat Attributes and compare the Stealth values in feet between hide and superior invis.

Plus if those additional x feet of stealth aren't necessary (which I agree) so why slot another stealth IO or take an additional Stealth power on a Stalker?

According to the wiki, the Knives are described as using tactical goggles (it describes them as 'night vision' but due to the red appearance they imply infrared), thus Stealth/Invisibility/Hide have no affect on them.

    ----------------

Compared to other "stealth" powers, Hide is a beast.

I tried running a controller with "Superior Invisibility", but it should be called "Inferior Invisibility" IMO. You don't get to take it until level 8. It's only available to Controllers with Illusion power set. And the minute you interact with anything it turns off and you're out in the open for every enemy to see (just like every other stealth power, mind you). If you wanted to be accurate Superior Invisibility should be renamed "Take this Power if you don't want to get Sniped when flying through Founders Falls or be seen by GMs, because those are the only two things this power is good for". <-though that could be the longest name for a power in the game.

Wow, as you can see in my sig I play a lvl 50 Stalker and a lvl 50 Illusionist. And you have clearly no idea what you are talking about regarding Superior Invis. It's Stealth capped at 200 ft, that's the cap for all stealth powers. You can literally attack a mob in a spawn and the others in the same spawn won't notice you. A Stalker can't get to the cap with hide alone. So not sure where you get that that hide compared to other stealth powers is a beast thing? Not that I would even compare those two because for a stalker hide serves totally another purpose than sup invis for a Illusionist.
