Tonzofo Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 (edited) So I am a new(ish) player and have finally (after 4 other characters) gotten a character I really enjoy playing and its a Claws/Fiery Aura scrapper. My current goal is to have good AoE damage with some decent single target dps, I'd like to be able to do some farming with it I don't really expect to get to Spines/Fire brute farming but if I could get something like a +1/x8 build without a huge investment that would be awesome. I can currently do -1/x8 OSHA missions at level 47 with just crafted enhancements and its fun. Also I'd like to say that I play mostly late at night so soloing is what I do a lot during the week until my days off when I like to group a lot because its cool to play with other people and such. I am really unfamilar with creating builds but I through together what I hope is a pretty cheap build that I mostly focused on Uncommon sets with some random neat proc stuff thrown in that I found on the builder and through some random builds and such I looked at and through together this build which I am hoping for help with (please keep in mind that I really don't know what I am doing and trying to just figure it out). *edit* Also I have about 60m insp I have hoarded for this moment, so if possible I'd like to keep it around that much. Seigmoraig Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 (edited) You are really going the hard route building /fire on a non farmer. While /fire does have it's upsides (lotsa damage and cap fire resist) it's downsides are also very present. There is no + defence in the set meaning that you will be investing significantly in IOs to get everything running and until then you will be meatshielding everything with your 75% resist cap. It also doesn't have any knockback protection out of the box but that it less of an issue since you can pretty cheaply IO it. It's not like it can't be done it's just that you would get a lot more mileage out of your inf with another defence set. As for farmers, you don't absolutely 100% NEED to be spines to farm, it's just that Spines is good because it's slightly faster than the others so the min-max crowd will make you believe it's the only way to go. A Claws/Fire brute would do very well in Comic Con farm maps and game play wise it's basically the same thing as a scrapper but with 90% resist cap that you can hit naturally with /fire. I personally farm with a TW/Bio scrapper in Comic Con S/L farm maps, sure it would probably be faster with another build but I really enjoy playing this one and it is not completely reliant IOs to do any other content. Not trying to discourage you or anything, it's just the way it is with /fire EDIT: Here's a couple notes on your actual build, while I am not a pro yet, I have looked at a good number of them : You should have a second Knockback protection IO somewhere in there because enemies that knockback a lot will go through that mag 4. Look into Steadfast Protection for it Stamina should only have 2 slots in it. I Performance Shifter +end and Performance Shifter End mod level 50+5. Look to merit vendor for Enchancement boosters Same for Hasten, 2 slots level 50+5 crafted recharge SO Usually Build Up would be 2 slotted (gaussian refresh + 50+5 recharge SO) also but since it's an attack in Claws i'm not sure how it goes Maneuvers should only be 1 slotted with a Luck of the Gambler Def/Global Recharge (the bonus is so small that actual investment in the +def is not really worth it) Combat Jumping and Tough also need Luck of the Gambler Def/Global Recharge This 7.5% haste bonus from LotG is extremely powerful and is the cheapest way to get perma-Hasten. It's probably doable in /fire but it will need to happen more heavily in IO sets since you can only slot 4 Luck of the Gamblers from power pools. Other sets with naturally occurring +defence skills have an easier time achieving this. You should look into getting the 2 Scrapper only sets. One gives a great proc, +50% crit chance, and the other gives a flat 6% crit to all attacks. Scrapper's Strike and Critical Strike are the names of these 2 sets. These can also be upgraded to purple with Enhancement Catalysts that you can buy or get as drops at lvl 50. Hope this helps !! Edited September 16, 2019 by Seigmoraig
Warlawk Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 7 hours ago, Tonzofo said: I'd like to be able to do some farming with it The biggest problem with this is that scrapper /FA doesn't have a taunt aura so you can't really leverage your AOE very well, once you throw down burn the mobs will just scatter. If this is tha character you want to play, you should play it but be aware going in that it's not going to do well in a farming scenario because of that. The link in my sig is very brute centric but does have a lot of slotting you can look at and some good information in general about farming. Tonzofo Posted September 16, 2019 Author Posted September 16, 2019 Awesome your reply was what I was hoping for seig, I'll do the suggested changes. Warlawk, I'll read that link and appreciate the info about farming. I wanted a scrapper mostly because I don't really like tanking in groups and I found that on my katana electric brute I ended up as the engager and tank which sucked because of my lack of experience not knowing how the TFs/missions work are played out etc. So I really hope the tradeoff for defense and taunt is worth the playability tradeoff for me. I guess I can always make another character lol... hopefully be ok once I get the enhancements to cover them like you said.
